  1. Glad you were able to get out and do something we all enjoy. Hopefully there are more opportunities to set on some good fish as this situation allows. Hope you and your family stays healthy and safe.
  2. A couple of serious serving plate sized slabs! If the biggest bass were the same size, it’d be difficult NOT to fish for ‘em. Another good day on the water for ya!
  3. Saw the trailer @jbsoonerfan last night, kinda different but not high on the shelter in place binge watch schedule. Started “Hunters” on Amazon Prime instead, looking forward to “Bosch” season 5 next month. “Ozark”, season 3 starts today on Netflix and will be next up on our must see list... Be well everyone
  4. The only number I’m concerned with when fishing for any species is zero (0) at the end of the day my friends. Even on those slow, cold, why am I out here days when if I put a keeper in the boat I knew I wouldn’t go hungry if it came down to it.
  5. Alder for fish (salmon & steelhead), hickory for everything else...
  6. Last reel!? Last reel!? @FishTank not sure that’s possible ?. A Bantam XgL HG was the “last one”, before that a Daiwa Zillion 100SHLA, so that’s a loaded question. But my answer might be a Daiwa 20 Zillion 10.0L at this point. Currently as I shelter in place, I’m cleaning and upgrading with Carbontex drag washers my Curado 201I’s, with were supposed to replace my old B greenies. However, when “take care of your equipment and it’ll take care of you” is ingrained at a young age, it’s difficult to replace things that still work as if they’re new. So, I’m a thinking another purchase of Carbontex for the greenies will be happening. Be well everyone
  7. This video may help @TrickWorm23
  8. Props to the BR bbq Pit Masters! That’s some excellent looking Que
  9. Staying’ yoked @A-Jay! You’re an inspiration for us all
  10. Decisions, decisions, decisions @5by3....?
  11. I didn’t want to comment on who @gimruis was alluding to, other than the authorities by inference. However, in California the shelter in place order originally instituted in the Bay Area counties was/is an enforceable misdemeanor @J Francho, not sure about things in New York. I think most local/ national authorities are looking for voluntary compliance in the spirit of the law before enforcing compliance to the letter of the law... Be well and look out for your neighbors
  12. Thanks for the update and keeping us apprised @Mike L, keep pushing forward and staying positive during your recovery. I’m sure you’re looking at some fishing therapy soon!
  13. You got it pretty good guys. $3.25 for regular yesterday when I filled up the boat for I have no idea when I’m gonna be able to burn it in the pursuit of green fish. And yes like Washington, my fellow residents seems to enjoy adding taxes to ones fuel purchases. Be well ?
  14. You are correct @gimruis that you can go to the store for groceries, work, and to conduct “essential functions” and you are encouraged to take a walk for exercise. As for fishing, here in California it’s a matter of interpretation. For instance, walking a bank casting a lure should be considered exercise IMO, and if you keep your catch a means of providing food. Not to mention it’s usually a solitary activity in accordance with the “social distancing” policy of 6 feet. However, on another fishing site somebody trailering his boat was stopped by the authorities because doing so wasn’t an “essential function” and told to return home. We are all living in uncharted times, and a lot of this is a gray area that we have to work through. And I know from periodically reading the “2nd Annual Ice Out” thread, a lot of BR members have been involuntarily practicing shelter in place for a little while ?. So I can understand wanting to go fish. Be well everyone
  15. Close @The Bassman, Loomis GLX 843c with a Alphas Type F to bring everything back to the boat. As for the senko, I pretty much still follow the advice of “you can throw any color you want, as long as it’s green pumpkin” lol.
  16. Is it finesse? IMO it is, and a spinning rod is a good choice especially in open water situations. With spinning tackle you can let out line a little more easily to allow the bait to fall vertically. This is an old pic of my setup for pitching senkos, as I’m a little more target oriented in my approach. A baitcasting rod allows me to have more control of the cast and be accurate. I did go to braid over the fluoro...
  17. If you ordered tackle, I would expect to to arrive in the same amount of time as prior to the pandemic. I ordered 8 sets of Carbontex drag washers to give me something to do as I observe the mandated shelter in place. They shipped from Florida and arrived in three (3) days, ready to be installed. And in Cali, we’re encouraged to go for walks as a form of exercise. Walking a bank, casting a lure is pretty much what we are encouraged to do. Not to mention it’s pretty much solitary, allowing for the proper social distancing as you check your back cast ?. Be well everyone, we’re gonna put a hurtin’ on ‘em when the opportunity presents itself
  18. Since I live in one of the 7 Bay Area counties on mandatory Coronavirus shelter in place (which is now state wide), I figured it was a good time to upgrade some reels. These Carbontex drag washers just arrived in today’s snail mail for my 201HG’s. By the way, eBay was the trusted source if you might be interested in doing the same. *** I was surprised when I opened up my “I” series reel. The stock washers were Carbontex and the main was a little burned, but the aftermarket main washer has much more surface area...
  19. Hope you’re feeling some relief @N Florida Mike as I’m typing this. Any chance you carry a big, fat wallet filled with business cards amongst other things in your right rear pant pocket? If so, it’s possibly your sciatic nerve. A neighbor was dealing with the same kinda thing and that’s what his doctor asked. He showed me his wallet which was almost 2 1/2 inches thick from an inner jacket pocket. He stopped carrying his wallet in his pant pocket and declared the pain subsided after a day or two. A call to your doctor would definitely be in order so this doesn’t get in the way of fishin
  20. @MN Fisher in mentioning no room for animals, actually some of of grandparents and parents were able to get around that. Rabbit hutches weren’t for pets, hasenpfeffer was severed quite often starting around the depression....
  21. News just in.... LA Rams cut Todd Gurley. If we can’t watch sports at least things are staying interesting *Broncos said goodbye to Flacco BTW, failed physical
  22. It really kinda blows when Google sends you a reminder of what a great day you had exactly two years ago. Especially while observing a mandated shelter in place. But what the heck, it was a pretty good day lol
  23. Heard a gas station in Kentucky was selling it for .95 cents a gallon. I figured it was a little bit of drive and decided against making the trip...
  24. @TheMinimalistFisherman, 6” or 7” senkos seem to be the ticket here. Bigger fish wanting the bigger bait leading up to the spawn. 5” work for the males and if you’re dropshotting them. YMMV depending on your local conditions
  25. Very nice setup @Patrick Reif, I was just curious how you were going to enclose things to keep deer and other undesirable critters out. @Raul glad you’re good with SPAM. All cleared off the shelves here and it’s over $12 a can on Amazon which was kinda of unbelievable. @J Francho, I agree it’s surprising how the milk/dairy section gets cleaned out. But a lot of folks have little ones and don’t want to make a lot of unnecessary trips to the store. Besides, I remember my mother would freeze milk back in the day, then mix it with powdered milk as she tried to stretch a military paycheck and feed a large family by herself when pops was overseas. *eggs- great source of protein, can be served at all three meals in a variety of ways, come in their own packaging, stores well especially if boiled. We’ll get through this by being a family, community, and country. It’s how we do it that will define us. Be well everyone
