  1. I’m in, thanks @deaknh03 for making this happen
  2. I think I need to correct myself regarding my previous post on this thread ?. *BTW, I went with the 6.2...
  3. Hello @Backlass Blackbelt from a fellow Northern Californian, welcome to Bass Resource and the Forums!
  4. Gotta love it when packages arrive at the house with fun contents. The Mrs likes to remind me that every other week seems like Christmas ?
  5. Outta curiosity @scaleface, when was the last time the fuel filter was changed?
  6. Hello @Florian Knaus from Northern California, welcome to Bass Resource and the Forums!
  7. Hello @Chef, welcome to Bass Resource and the Forums! And to answer your question regarding the Bantam/Expride pairing, I’d go with what @Chris Carey suggested.
  8. Two steps ahead of me, and congratulations. For me it’s between the 6.2 or the 3.0 and do I want the payments. Not to mention the fact my 20 year old mule is still running strong and just has to get me to the water....
  9. The Mashers of the Midway gave my team all they could handle for three games. Now the A’s have the team that they want for the next round, so bring on the team from Houston. Go A’s!
  10. After a quick review, 6” GYCB senko and an original Phenix vibrating jig caught my best fish so far this year...
  11. Nothing like watching the sunrise through the smoke....
  12. I had a couple of questions answered and at the same time had some things reaffirmed. My first fish of the day did both regarding does catch and release work (which we all know is pretty much a fact), will fish stay in an area, and in Fall (whenever that’s supposed to start) fish start to put on the feed bag. For some reason I decided to start off slow rolling a spinnerbait, and it got smoked by a big girl who weighed in at 4.8lbs to start the morning. Later, when I was able to see the picture of that fish I noticed the “beauty mark” just above the anal fin. I remembered catching a fish with a similar mark not too long ago from the same spot. Checking my photos, I caught her on September 1st, on a crankbait and she weighed 4.4lbs. *So in a month’s time she put on .4 ounces and got to make a second appearance on Bass Resource. I later grabbed a jerkbait rod with a 6th Sense Provoke (thanks @Bluebasser86) and put it to work. On a pause, my rod loaded up and began to pull drag as good fish began digging down. Fortunately, the big green fish stayed pinned thanks to some very sticky hooks and I was able to lip her to welcome her aboard. She weighed 5.2lbs and definitely like being provoked...
  13. I mentally cued up some Deep Purple as I headed across the Tract this morning....
  14. Glad your doctor found the problem in time @OnthePotomac, hope it’s a smooth procedure and a speedy recovery
  15. Good to hear from you @Harold Scoggins, glad to see to out with a big girl wanting one more dance before she called it good until next spring!
  16. I caught my best fish of a shortened COVID-19 2020, a 6.5lber on topwater. The early morning topwater bite was a bit frustrating for me, I was only able to put two non-scorable bass in the boat. The better fish were just swiping at my popper or pulling it down and not getting the hooks. I was starting to think the window for this morning’s topwater bite was about to close as I fired my popper 30 yards out in in front of me and began working the bait back to the boat. I paused the popper to let the rings widen, when a garbage can sized swirl engulfed the popper. My rod loaded for a brief second, then went slack. Another swing and a miss as I then began to cuss at what I knew was a big fish. About the same time I see my popper reappear on the surface. Instead of reeling in the bait and making another cast, I moved the popper about 2 feet and “killed” it with a couple of twitches. All of a sudden an even larger boil erupted around my bait as my rod loaded. I thought “He didn’t miss it that time” as the fight was on! What I now realized was a big fish bulldozed into some hydrilla, then out of the grass towards deep water, and back towards the hydrilla mats the whole time pulling drag. My 10lb flourocarbon leader and loop knot were up to the challenge as I brought fish to net a little while later. I did hook a 10-12lb striper on a crankbait and some punch fish during the remainder of the day...
  17. 1) I go an average of about twice a week. 2) I primarily fish fresh water for bass, but try to get a trip in for salmon or trout. 3) I find out about new products from magazines, television programs and commercials, friends, online and the BR community. 4) I decide whether or not to purchase a new product if it’ll fill a need/want, is it conducive to my fishing style, target species and where I fish. I will also take into account the opinions of friends who have tried the product and those of BR members. 5) I would usually shop pre-Covid-19 for fishing tackle at brick and mortar stores or online. 6) I guess the answer would depend on one’s definition of “enough gadgets” would be. In my opinion innovation is good and gadgets in there various forms add to my enjoyment of fishing. 7) I will plead the 5th on this one, as Mr. Jones (the bait monkey) suggests I do at this time. I’d like to add the ancillary costs of a yearly fishing license, boat and vehicle maintenance and insurance, an average of a gallon a month of Optimax oil, and the fuel for the boat/vehicles to take me fishing are equally essential equipment of which I have no idea what that be over the course of a year. @Smokinal, I hope my answers and those of fellow BR members are of help to your son with his research project. Continued good fishing, JB
  18. A welcome sight this morning on the Delta as I headed East, a clear blue sky at sunrise, a few vapor trails from aircraft headed to parts unknown, minimal smoke from the fires in the Sierras and water as smooth as glass...
  19. @TriStateBassin106, the smokey haze definitely extends the topwater bite just like on a cloudy or overcast day. Last week after the windstorms, I was running a buzz bait through “sawdust” piles of ash from the fires that the fish were using as overhead cover.
  20. Hello @tlj96from Northern California. Welcome to Bass Resource and the Forums! Regarding your GLX 842, unless you really want to make the repairs yourself, I’d give G Loomis a call for a cost comparison. It may be a warranty repair, or you may be given option for $50 no questions asked Loomis will send you a new rod. I can only speak for myself, but G Loomis Warranty Department has always treated me well under similar circumstances...
  21. I’ve been using the same rubber bands for over a year now without complaint. Daughters have been out of the house for some time and my wife rarely uses a hair tie. So, left to my own resourcefulness .... https://www.officesupply.com/office-supplies/general-supplies/clips-tacks-rubber-bands/rubber-bands/universal-rubber-bands-size-gauge-beige-pack/p47593.html?ref=pla&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&adpos=&scid=scplp47593&sc_intid=47593&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1YfnkYPk6wIV6xatBh202QjQEAQYASABEgKJtfD_BwE
  22. I just use a rubber band. They’re inexpensive and plentiful ?
  23. So I roll up on a bank where I’ve been successful in the past, and the conditions seemed right to pick up a few fish. I commence to making multiple casts with everything on the deck....nothing. I started to wonder if they fed during last nights full moon or earlier this morning and pulled off. I began to think of where I should be headed next when those famous last words came to mind. “One last cast” as I cast my bait and began the retrieve. I couldn’t stop chuckling to myself as I welcomed a 4.9lb aboard a moment later
  24. I headed out this morning with smoke haze obscuring the sunrise. The “delta breeze” creating some wind chop as it worked against the now outgoing tide. With 72 degree water, I wondered what affect this might have today’s bite. Fortunately, I wasn’t disappointed! I was able to tie into a 6.0lb drag pulling senko fish. As I was hanging over the gunnel hand lining her up, I thought one of these days I outta put the net in the boat. Not to mention I was glad one of my Covid projects was installing Carbontex drag washers on all my reels. A little while later, I connected with a 5.8lb and a 4.4lb crankbait fish. I was punching the primrose mats off and on throughout my junk fishing morning, my best punch fish were a round 3.0lbs like this one. Considering how tough the bite can be this time of year, I was pleasantly surprised with mornings success...
  25. @Bluegillslayer congrats on your new PB! Stay on em!
