  1. Agreed @airshot and that’s the problem. All I was trying to point out was two dual purpose batteries to run what I understood as two graphs on the bow (helm graph on “sleep” mode) and trolling motor on a 20ft boat is under powered battery. And after spending over a grand at BPS most of us would probably drop in a group 31 AGM on the big motor/electronics side and still have two batteries for the trolling motor. After all with the fall bite turning on, got to get @GoneFishingLTN back on the water.

  5. I can appreciate what you’re saying @Swamp Girl, and I’m thankful I fish out of a glass boat. On those days when it was blowing big time, two R rated words preceded “we’re here, so might as well go fishing”. Dealing with the wind in a bass boat, a canoe or my old Caddis float tube isn’t fun at times, but definitely can be rewarding.
  6. Glad to hear you’re doing well @Mike L and everyone in the Southeast affected by Helene and Milton are continuing to get the support and resources they need regarding rescue and recovery efforts.
  7. I like to use Power Pro braid for both, 30lb for spinnerbaits and bladed jigs and 40lb for chucking buzzbaits.
  8. “Don’t leave fish to go find fish” and “the wind is your friend”. And it’s always been amazing to me how well the second quote played out over the years in catching big fish and my PB when I may have otherwise elected to fish in more favorable conditions.
  9. I don’t know if this makes a difference, but judging by the above picture @GoneFishingLTN it shows the Interstate batteries are “dual purpose” batteries and not “deep cycle”. And according to the information I attached from the inter web, the batteries you currently have are functioning properly and could be why you’re not getting longer run time with your electronics. I hope this is helpful. The main difference between deep cycle and dual purpose batteries is that deep cycle batteries are better for long-term power, while dual purpose batteries are more versatile: Deep cycle batteries These batteries are designed to provide a steady power supply for extended periods of time. They are ideal for powering devices like fish finders, radios, and trolling motors. Deep cycle batteries can be recharged and discharged many more times than dual purpose batteries because of their thicker plates. Dual purpose batteries These batteries can perform both starting and cycling tasks. They are a good choice for smaller boats with limited space because they can reduce weight and save space by eliminating the need for a separate starting battery. When choosing between a deep cycle and dual purpose battery, you can consider things like: Application: What will you be using the battery for? Longevity: How long will the battery last? Versatility: Do you need a specialized or versatile solution?
  10. @A-Jay, sure looks like those Menderchuk big girls like dancing to the beat of your new Vision 110! Stay on ‘em and thanks for sharing the pictures of those beautiful brown bass!
  11. I use a Rapala Knot when trying up my jerkbaits to a 10lb or 12lb fluorocarbon leader. I haven’t had any problems with the knot, only issue has been the hooks (Katsuaga Outbarb) straightening out a bit. Granted, I was surprised to learn those Katsuaga hooks Megabass uses on its Vision 110s were intended to be used with 6lb-8lb test line* with 10lb being the heaviest and preferably on spinning gear. I know the attached video has nothing to do with knots but some might find it useful regarding fishing jerkbaits. *11:45 on video
  12. I knew I was old when I was buying a boxed bottle of Grey Goose vodka and the woman at checkout said “birthday?” I replied “no, it’s a Christmas present.”

  15. I just want to take a moment and say that I’m glad our Bass Resource members posting in the aftermath of the devastation hurricane Helene left in its path are alive and well. The loss of life and property that have been shown on the news is saddening, and it is my hope that those 400 people reported as missing are found safe and in good health. As for the talk about relief efforts/support I’d like to offer a little more information on an emergency service response to a disaster. It needs to be understood just saying “I need help, send help” as simple as it sounds just doesn’t work when it comes to government helping after a disaster. The Federal Government needs to know specifically what those on ground in the affected areas need (water, food, money, fuel, tents, etc.), how much or how many, where is it needed and for how long before being resupplied. Next comes the operation of getting the requested relief supplies where it’s been requested all the while coordinating the various government, civilian and volunteer personnel with rescue efforts and getting basic services back on-line. And even with fires and other things happening, California sent over 170 firefighters trained in search and rescue to help with recovery efforts because that’s what Americans have always done, help others out in time of need. I just look forward to reading that everyone’s family and neighbors are safe, well and are getting the necessary help to rebuild their communities.
  16. Congratulations @Bluebasser86 on one helluva day and a great weekend! Thanks for sharing your experience with an enjoyable read. Winning your event, team derby, and qualifying for the Bassmaster Kayak Classic is quite an accomplishment for you and your family to enjoy. Again Clayton, congratulations on stacking some serious wood and good luck, er breaking a leg at the Kayak Classic!
  17. A very interesting and informative eulogy by Rolling Stone Magazine. RIP Kris Kristofferson, country singer, actor, Rhodes scholar, and soldier. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-country/kris-kristofferson-dead-1107074/
  18. Ahhhh, I’ve got nothing other than a little bitterness….. Nothing to say about a game I enjoyed and shared with my family over the decades. A blue collar city that in the 70’s was the proud major sports capital of the United States with the World Champion A’s, the World Champion Warriors, and the World Champion Raiders. All gone from the city of passionate sports fans where Oakland’s professional teams embodied everything is earned, nothing was given. I didn’t watch any baseball on TV or take my family to out to the ballpark this season. The last game we went to was last year’s first reverse boycott game which had no effect on MLB or team ownership. Going forward good luck to my fellow BR members and your teams.
  19. Hey! Congratulations @Bazoo on your new PB and having a small cheering section observing the battle!
  20. Nice haul @NorthernBasser, unfortunately I can’t help you with the Bait Fuel issue, but I think you’re on the right track. I’m of the Pro Cure, Megastrike discipline when it comes to scents for fishing.
  21. Weird? I mean it’s not like I cast right hand and reel with my left. It just seems correct and completely normal. And I definitely throw a dropshot on baitcasting gear with braid where one might also pitch a jig. I believe the bait just sits in the fish’s strike zone and may get a few more bites depending on the time of year. I just can’t get myself to call it “bubba shot” cause mentally I immediately go to Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump yelling out ”BUBBA”.
  22. Yep, now imagine one, all 320lbs of him that made it all the way to Los Banos that the CHP named “Chippy”. Of course, I’d rather they stay on the Pier 39 docks and eat the anchovies the tourists feed them. Like a limb cod*, and a lot of people might mistake a Nutria for a beaver. The tail slap on the water just before diving tells you it’s a beaver. *my bad, West Coast (Pacific Ocean) reference to Ling cod, which makes great fish and chips btw.
  23. I’m okay with the otters that frequent the river @fishhugger, they eat WAY more crawdads than fish as the docks covered in otter scat full of crawdad shells can attest. And I think the beaver in @Tennessee Boy’s video thought that trout was a piece of wood cause it lost interest pretty quickly. Now, if you want to talk fish eaters, these guys do some serious damage, especially during the spawn not to mention they’re known to be a big fan of weigh-ins. But since sea lions federally protected just got to look past ‘em and fish where they aren’t.
