  1. Happy New Year Bass Resource!
  2. I haven’t been on the water since November @camman, and I agree nothing makes one more nervous than having a 110 stuck in the face of a fall run striper. Something about will the line snap if I don’t play this fish right, are those Katsuaga hooks going to bend out, and why didn’t I bring the net all come to mind. However, if I’m targeting stripers now with all the tule fog this time of year, I’d be throwing chrome three-quarter ounce Rattle Traps, Lunker Punkers or dragging the big jointed Rebels.
  3. I guess there have been a lot of assumptions made during the discussion of the topic. Since the initial incident occurred this past February* I was only trying to pointing out with your question that investigations take time, either to confirm a crime or to prove vindication. *per Ben Milliken on his latest YouTube video
  4. Maybe change the title of this thread and the posted link @Catt if it wasn’t a tournament. In any case, I’m sure the young man has the situation resolved and I wish him well going forward.
  5. “I wonder why it took half a year for charges to be pressed.” Then why’d you ask if you didn’t want an answer?
  6. @Ohioguy25, I primarily fish the San Joaquin River side of the delta and the depth varies hour to hour and day to day according to the tide. The average depth that I like to throw a jerkbait is about 4 to 15 feet and there is enough depth for international traffic to Stockton and Sacramento.
  7. Which answers @J Francho’s above question as to why the investigation took 6 months. Having a fishing license is part of the tools required for a professional angler. Imagine a carpenter not having his hammer and tool belt showing up at a job site day after day. Is that guy gonna get a pass? Asking for a friend. It looks like the honor system wasn’t working and derby officials might need to start physically checking fishing licenses, boat registration and insurance and not just livewells.
  8. I’ll alternate between a 110 and the +1 depending on depth and the grass line.
  9. I’m right there with you on it and my point. I was just giving a different solution on how to achieve standardization of equipment. Sometimes money is the solution, sometimes it’s the problem and sometimes it’s irrelevant.
  10. My answer @August would be to standardize your equipment for tournament fishing. You can decide the price point, reel model, familiarity and ability to change reels out on the fly if necessary without making major adjustments. A couple of guys I know who tournament fish and bought all Bass Pro Shops reels for all their rods. Their logic was the BPS reels were of decent quality and value so they could afford to do it, if one failed the could get another relatively quick because BPS are everywhere and most importantly they could afford to replace all of them every year or two. Good luck with your decision and on the circuit.
  11. I got the notification via email @chubaka, it shows up if you use the search feature “lucky craft bundle”.
  12. The Shimano 200-201E7 reel I believe was the last Curado made in Japan, was much smaller than the previous D variant and held its value over the years. Great little reel.
  13. For the next 48 hours, The Hookup Tackle has select Lucky Craft bundles were you save 50% to 75% off when you buy in bulk*. *it’s a 4 pack
  14. Thanks again @A-Jay for the Megastrike shipment, much appreciated.
  15. Hello @aimcat, and welcome to Bass Resource. I’m guessing you’re asking for advice to replace the Stradic Ci4 with an improved model of similar size and capability without breaking the bank. I’d also recommend the Shimano Vanford 3000XGF and currently many retailers are offering holiday discounts.
  16. The nectar of the gods. Espresso, Cappuccino, Latte, Cadillac or black that a spoon would stand up in it, I definitely like to enjoy a good cup of coffee. As I type this I’m enjoying a cup of Peet’s Holiday blend, that’s similar to their Peaberry blend which is really good when it’s available. But I gotta admit it’s always nice to visit the state where it’s grown and have cup at the source…
  17. Nice muffin’ top @Lottabass! And thanks @Swamp Girl for this thread and being allowing us see some great flicks of America’s favorite game fish that’s popular internationally. However, I gotta say in response to your original question we as a group are looking and hoping to catch the biggest bass at hookset, the fattest or longest it doesn’t matter. Now in my opinion if you were to ask a tournament minded angler, the kayak crowd wants a longer bass, spotted comes to mind vs the boaters in which large and smallmouth make heavier bags at weight in.
  18. Absolutely a big, thick girl especially at the spring dance!
  19. Thanks for the clarification @mheichelbech
  20. Is the Alderbaran left or right hand retrieve?
  21. I did like the Yoda speak @gimruis 👍, just not sure how the Niners gonna “prepare” for the lake effect snow. Last time it snowed in the Bay Area was ‘75 and it was pretty special and a lot of fun. Just gotta lace em up and make the best of the game plan and hope your personnel can execute it. Anyway, this years version of the Niners aren’t even close to being on par with the team that went to last year’s Super Bowl. Football is a game that should be played outdoors, and the Bills embrace those weather conditions and use them to their advantage much like Bud Grants Vikings teams did back in the day. The season is winding down and the playoff picture is gonna get even more clear and interesting. *And loosing CMC to a potential season ending PCL injury didn’t help.
  22. Thanks for the offer @A-Jay, I send a you a PM a little later, right now I’m watching the Niners and their season implode.
  23. Hey @A-Jay, an early Merry Christmas to you and Lynn! I appreciate the offer Andy, but I only bought two tubes of the regular Megastrike at the time. One’s in the boat and already been squeezed a bit, the other is still in its original blister pack awaiting its future deployment or potential trade.
  24. @A-JayI noticed the same thing last spring when I needed another tube of the crawfish scent, which is currently $29.99 on Amazon. And after clicking on the link @Glenn provided, Tackle Warehouse still only has regular and I’m not ready to throw “squid” in freshwater yet. I’m partial to crawfish scent and at the time I picked up a couple of tubes of regular scent hoping inventory would improve. It doesn’t look like it has at the moment with this thread….
