  1. Don't know about that one but the Energy PT 7:1 is one of the smoothest, if not the smoothest I own. I also own a Revo STX. I like them both but the energy is tops and can be bought for $100 or less right now. It was regularly $189 or $199.
  2. I bought one a while back. They are fantastic reels. I have fluoro on mine. It is unbelievably smooth. I think I may like it as good, if not better than my Revo stx.
  3. Welcome! Fishing is a great hobby!
  4. Most of my fishing is freshwater. However, I do a fair amount of saltwater inshore fishing while traveling. I need a new setup for freshwater flippin (braid line). Could I use an Energy PT (inshore) rig with a medium heavy to heavy rod for flipping freshwater AND inshore stuff? I researched and it seems to be a no-brainer. Am I missing something? Thanks!
  5. Mine is black plastic with an aluminum (silver) face and back. It's probably the same one just a different color. I've been fishing for 25 years. Thta is the first scale I believe I've ever owned. Makes me wonder how many fish might have weighed more than I thought, or less.
  6. I recently just bought the little scale that isn't digital. It's been around forever. I looked at the lip grip digitals but couldn't justify the difference between $4 and $60 for the scale. However, I'm sure I will end up with the $60 version soon enough.
  7. Hello all, Is there anyone out there who would like a partner to fish this weekend? No tournament....I will be in the Grand Rivers area and looking to fish. I look forward to hearing from someone!

  9. If they are accustomed to the subtle presentation of soft plastics, I would try to noisy, annoying cranks.
  10. When I fish Kentucky and Barkley, I am usually around the dams. In fact, I will be there this weekend camping at Canal.
  11. or general fishing partner......Anyone looking for someone in the Nashville area? I fish Kentucky Lake, Lake Barkley, Defeated Creek Cordell Hull Dam, and various smaller spots in the Kentucky/Tennessee area. I look forward to hearing from someone!
  12. I agree.....I have 4 or 5 of the Falcon boxes. Eventually, I will replace all of mine with Falcon. I was able to find a hiking backpack to use for my tackle carrier. It will hold about 12 boxes and lots of other stuff in the pockets. I wanted a backpack because it is easier to get to and from the boat AND it is great when I am not in the boat. Also, Falcon boxes are about $2 cheaper at Academy Sports over BPS.
  13. I like a medium or medium heavy 7'. It is a tough one because a medium is good to allow them to take the lure through any cover on top. On the other hand, the stiffer rod may be better for pulling them out of that cover.
  14. I have a BPS M/H JMS 7'. I really like it. It was on sale for $99.I also have a StCroix Avid M. I like it as well. I prefer medium heavy for just about everything but a medium is good from time to time. Some reviews of BPS gear say it is great. Some say it is bad. I have nothing bad at all to say about either one of them.
  15. When averaged over the entire year, my number goes down significantly. I buy lots between March and October but very little to none in the winter months.
  16. How do you co-angle with FLW? I haven't been successful in finding info for it.
  17. I've fished from a Kayak for about a year now. It is a lot of fun and productive. I do not have mine all rigged up. My kids and others use it when we are camping. It is definitely a stealth mode of getting close to fish. You do not need a kayak roof rack. Any factory roof rack on an SUV or van will do. I use ratchet straps to secure it. I have roof racks for bikes but the kayak doesn't need it, imo.
  18. I don't really have a favorite. I buy from both. Both have sales on a regular basis. I really try to hit local shops when I can for various items. I also tend to lean more toward Cabelas because I don't pay tax when buying from them. They don't have a retail store anywhere in TN. I also find some great deals at Academy Sports. They tend to be around .50 cheaper on say a $6 lure than Cabelas or BPS.
  19. I'm a big Revo fan. The Quantum energy pt is pretty good too. I believe they are on sale most places. I saw one for $99 the other day. I believe it was BP.
  20. Cabela's sends them in a tube in plastic with a foam pad in a box. I recently bought an Avid. It's nice. However, I bought medium action and I would prefer medium/heavy. The medium is ok but just a little too flexible for me. By the way, I got a deal on the BPS Johnny Morris rod, 7', medium heavy and I really like it.
  21. I caught a 4lb bass this weekend retrieving one slowly. The fish actually hit it real close in. I believe the fish followed it for a while.
  22. I bought my revo on ebay. Saved roughly $60 off retail.
  23. I've been around message boards of various subjects for quite a while. I believe it is important to keep in mind there are so many comments that wouldn't be said in face-to-face conversations. I always try to keep my comments the same as I would speak to anyone in person. Message boards should not be a place for posters to transform into some other personality.
  24. This may or may not be much help. However, I too, tend to over-analyze new purchases of gear of any kind. All reels mentioned here a likely to be GREAT reels. Otherwise, the manufacturer's wouldn't sell tens of thousands of them. That said, I believe it is important for you to look at the reels, feel them, and push all the buttons at a local shop. Pick the one you like best and feels right. Again, I don't believe you can go wrong with any of them. By the way, I have a Quantum Energy PT (BURNER) and a Revo STX 6:4. They are both great. I believe the rod selection will be more important than the reel. I have a M/H 7' Johnny Morris sig from Bass Pro and a St Croix Avid 7' m fast. I honestly haven't used them enough this year to say if I would buy the same again. I can say I like them very much. I hope that helps some.
  25. Two questions..... What, if any, input does anyone have regarding Seaguar fluorocarbon (I've searched and read comments in other threads)? Second, does the diameter and test need to be larger to prevent backlash problems so many say they have with fluorocarbon? I just bought some Seaguar 12#/.011" diameter. I am thinking of exchanging it for a larger test and diameter due to many comments. Thanks!
