  1. I have a gheenoe and love it!
  2. got my rod today, about 2ft section of the rod shipping tube was caved in some to where that section of the tube was flat and soft on one-side. Pulled out rod at first sight didn't see any damage. Took a closer look, right where damage was on rod tube i have a ring around rod where looks like could be tiny hairline fractures or where the rod may have binded during shipping. With the big baits i plan on throwing think ill be sending this rod back and not risking it breaking later down the road! My 2nd Dobyns rod this summer that had to be shipped back bc of mis handling from UPS. I watched my ups guy kinda toss my rod over deck railing and leaned it against post with out even coming up on my deck, but that was not the cause of the main damage done to rod tube.
  3. look good enough to eat!
  4. i was the only one in my family that was really into fishing...so my mom would drop me off at the local neighborhood lake for few hours. It all took off from there!
  5. cant go wrong with Dobyns! I'm waiting on my big swimbait rod to get here tmw!! Just ordered Calcutta to pair up with it

  9. Ouch!! Sounds like one of my buddies who was trying to tighten a knot on a crankbait with his teeth and line slipped and hook went into his lower lip pass the barb. We had to push it out and cut barb off like you said. We joked about it afterwards and died laughing bc for at least 30min he had a lure hanging from his lip bf we decided how to handle it. We told him he was the catch of the day!! LOL Glad to hear things worked out and no serious injuries!! That's my worst fear is getting hooked pass the barb!!
  10. +1 on the Albright
  11. I also got my at amazon and love them!! No guessing when looking in the livewell! Well worth it in my opinion...heavy duty wire with nice clips.
  12. Nice fish!!! You using a Flutter type spoon?
  13. Nice vid! Doesn't look to be much to your retrieve, kinda slow straight retrieve with few twitches? Sometimes subtle movements is key! Looks like your having a good hook up ratio! Did you modify the frog in anyway? I do notice you wait a sec to set the hook after bass hits which im sure is key to your hook ups also. Great job! Only reason i dont like fishing soft body frogs is bc after awhile they take in water and have to squeeze them out after every cast!
  14. I like 50lb, i use to use a lot of 30lb but it was so thin and kinda dug into the spool more than the 50lbs does. I really like the powerpro slick.
  15. Welcome!
  16. Looking to pick up a Dobyns Swimbait rod that can handle both 6" & 8" hudds. Any suggestions? I like what i read about the 806 ML SB so far.

  20. Nice!!! See you could have finished in the money! That was only my 2nd time there so still kinda figuring things out there , but the guys from Little Creek Anglers who fish there all the time say the lake did not fish well that day for some reason. The very next week it took over 15lbs to win at Diascunds. I think 3 teams had 15lbs+ and handfull had 13-14lbs...
  21. Yes its actual weigh-in...i guess there was not much interest in the canoe/kayak part of it so the club kinda drifted more toward jon boats. Most are just using a large cooler with a pump in it to keep fish. Your right kayak would be a little hard keeping 5 fish. Maybe you can look into small jon boat or canoe for around same price as a yak. Its a fun time. Depending on your fishing style there is another club that fishes " No slot" lakes that just started up with bunch of good guys called River city Anglers maybe also check them out but are more dedicated to jon boats also. This club here fishes mostly slot lakes with a few no slot lakes in the mix.
