  1. Briery Creek in VA only way to go....go get you one of those 10 pounders!! 8-)
  2. what could i use to make the hole for base mount?? and what to use to mount it bc i wont have access to underside of mount / bench seat to put a nut on bolt so dont pull through. Do i use some kinda screw?? i dont want the screws/bolt or whatever i use to pull out when setting the hook on a nice one lol ;D
  3. Im getting a modified V 14ft alumacraft jon boat and was trying to plan out the seats. Im goin to eventually put a front deck on boat also. Just curious on how i go by installing the base?? Is it good idea to just mount base to aluminum bench seat?? whats best mounting method to where seat will be sturdy and wont come unmounted? Thanks!
  4. you will love Briery!! Get out there early and stay late! oh yea and watch for stumps etc just under water surface they will getcha!! good luck and maybe see ya out there!! 8-)
  5. good ol briery creek!!! I love that lake...getn my boat ready for this season at the moment, but ill be hitting Briery up for sure by march! Nice one Wayne!!
  6. just curious since these baits are known for catchin HAWGS and being that Briery holds some of VA's largest figured that would be the place to try throwing LARGE swim bait. Only thing is all that standing timber and structure and vegatation probably end up losing a few of these baits since hook is exposed on most and at that price will hurt anyones pocket...but the reward im sure will be NICE! I think im goin to start with 6'' Hudd and see what kinda action i get...i think they will produce some nice ones! 8-)
  7. got your PM , thanks for all the great info and taking your time to do so. thanks for the link misfit, it is lil cheaper on that site.... ill be workin on the ol canoe over next few months to make her a fishn machine!! waiting on the tax rebate to come in to get some goodies! 8-)
  8. thanks ill keep a look out... holy 1500 bucks for your canoe you got AJ guess ill be saving up for it.... :'( that canoe looks wider than normal is it stable enough to stand in? i stand in mine i admit lil wobbly but i can do it and have many close calls... ;D
  9. rapala x-rap subwalk...works great in upper james for smallies! walk the dog action just few inches under surface! killer explosions on this thing!
  10. i love my YAK!! I have pungo 120 angler model....I love it has 3 rod holders, dry storage, anchor system, cuts through water like nothin..Its light enough i can carry myself and floats in like 2-3'' of water. If i could turn back time i think i wouldve gone in with SOT sit on top style bc more room, more stable, and easier to get in and out of...just wear lots of sunscreen on top of your legs bc they will get smoked. Some people go as far as adding depthfinder/gps etc on their yaks..they are very fun to fish out of and stealth!
  11. i was wondering how durable these were bc i have heard holes/cracks being made from rocks or structure under water and taking in water inside of frame of boat...ive seen one on craigslist for sale with hole in it...just curious on durability of these boats...
  12. a-jay....Love your setup!! Very nice!! lovin the flat back on it wish mine had it....yea pm me with more pics/info..would also like to see how you mounted/setup depth finder...looks very clean! going to look at me one of the flat back canoes in near future...I also have Pungo 120 kyack that love to fish out of too but cant hook trollin motor to it so the canoe has become my fav for time being...I would post pics of my setup but aint much to it right now....thanks for sharing!
  13. i have canoe that i love to fish out of bc i can be quite, cuts through water nicely, i can get into shallows where most boats cant and where i fish can cut through standing timber with out gettn stuck on stumps/tree tops...also i live less than 5mi from James river so perfect setup for smallie fishin on river also. Just hooked on trolling motor and man does it save my arms from paddle around all day...im also thinking about adding depth finder / and gps and buying some better seats and some rod holders..just curious as to how everyone else hookd up their canoe for better fishing...
  14. hi all im new to site also...i fish briery all the time...last time i fish was mid april of this year...we got rained on all day with several inches of water in bottom of boat but we didnt give up rain stopped bf dark and i landed 24'' 6.9lbs lmb...well worth the waiting out of the rain!
