  1. Hello and welcome! I'm another Ga boy from Evans, Ga. I'm originaly from Swainsboro. Just moved from there. Guess you could say from one good fishing hole to another! Maybe you could give me some tips on some good spots aaround the area!?!
  2. alger I completly agree with you on that!!! I hate bowfin with a passion. I wouldn't mind one bit if they all dissapeared.
  3. Thanks for all the opinions! I go whenever I can 5 or 95 it really doesn't matter. Mainly use it as a guide to see what might happen that day. Thanks again!
  4. Crickets are King!! Also Hildebrandts(Not sure on spelling!) spin dandy 3/16oz. black skirt gold head and spinner laced with a cricket is deadly on readbreast here in ga
  5. YES and they are good if cooked correctly! Scale, dehead and gut the fish. Then take your knife and make a couple (depending on the size of said fish) of gashes down the side of the fish from the tail to where the head used to be. The gashes allow the hot grease to get deeper in the carcase and cook the small bones to a crisp. That way you eat bone and all and no worries about getting choked on them as they go down. I use louisiana brand breading and cook them in a deep fryer @350 till they float and they are done. There is another type of Chain Pickerel down here in Ga. that is called Redfin. It's size is not as big as a regular Chain Pickerel but twice as good. The meat is fine in texture and has a faint sweet taste to it. One perk of the redfin is u can actually scale them with the water pressure that comes out of your water hose(with nozzel of course)!
  6. That's just it. On the 29 day we had to stop fishing for about an hour because of a thunderstorm that rolled through the area. The bite was just as good if not better after the storm had passed. The 91 day was perfect conditions far as weather was concerned, but like I said i think that we hit it during the middle of the spawn.Just wondering what other people might have incountered with the charts??
  7. I know that there is alot af varibles when it comes to fishing(weather, spawn, water temp, etc.) and the tables are only used for a guide but there have been alot of questions raised in the past couple of weeks. We went fishing on a 29 day mainly to get out of the house. The conditions were right on and we had a decent day. All in all I think there were about 18 fish caught that afternoon with about half ranging in the 2-4lb range the rest were borderline keepers and dinks. According to our observations of the fish that were kept the spawn was just before coming in. About a week later we headed back to the lake on a solid 91 day with the same conditions convinced that we were going to wear them out! Ha ha ha! Six hours of fishing later we had three fish in the boat. Soild weights but no big numbers. I think that we hit the lake right during the spawn so that could be part of the reason for the low numbers. I was just wondering what ya'lls view on the tables were. I was just introduced to them so I need some help!!! Do I trust them or throw them in the trash???
