  1. 3:16 baby wake super spook and other big walking baits
  2. I use a medium heavy for most my fishing including spring walleyes where sensitivity is very much important. Alot of guys give me a hard time about it but they don't realize my legend elite is more sensitive than ugly sticks and lightning rods even if theres are medium lights which is what most these guys use.
  3. I use a baitcaster probably 90% of the time maybe more. 10% of the time is weightless crawlers which I haven't done for smallmouth in a couple years. I can throw 1/4 jigheads with grubs, weightless senkos and other plastics, swimbaits, and top waters. Just depends what you are comfortable w/.
  4. Is the action on the wake jr. that much better than the baby wake? I like the baby wake because I can throw it on a regular medium heavy rod instead of bringing my swimbait rod along that I might or might not use and its half the price.
  5. I've got a baby wake perch and its a blast to fish and works great I plan to get some more floating swimbaits. Heres what I plan to get am I missing anything $50 is about my limit. I have an okuma heavy so I can throw pretty good sized baits. Another baby wake ms slammer or 2 matts hard gill floater and woody
  6. On the high end. St. Croix and G.Loomis. On the budget end alot of store branded rods cabelas, gander, bass pro and some others.
  7. People fish Superior with kayaks and Erie is a baby compared to Superior. Not to mention people fish oceans with kayaks
  8. I doubt theres any place in the south that can compete with not only Erie, but Michigan and Superior for numbers of good sized fish. I'm sure theres a world record swimming in any of the 3 lakes I mentioned problem is thats a lot of water to cover. I'd bet on the next world record smallie coming south of the mason dixon though or california. It could come from inland waters in the north to you just never know.
  9. I wish I had bigger bass that I could fish for all year. I wouldn't be willing to give up muskies and pike to get it though.
  10. Wisconsin Over 16,000 lakes, countless creeks, streams, and river all full of a variety of game fish including world class muskie fishing. 2 great lakes, and the miss. river too.
  11. I think I'm really good at adapting. When the lakes are frozen or bass fishing is closed on them I go to the river and catch bass, eyes, muskies, pike, and cats. Part of living here in Wisconsin is being a dang good multi species fisherman or you aren't going to do alot of fishing. If I am somewheres I need a boat and I don't have one I make the best of it and catch fish from shore. I also think I'm pretty good at catching fish from shore, a big part of shore fishing is being able to get away from the crowd or otherwise do something different. I think I'm really good at that. For example if there is 5 people fishing near me from shore and they are all throwing senko type baits, I'll play around with something else until I get the fish figured out.
  12. I'm always ready for some turkey hunting spring or fall. Turkey hunting beats all. Copen1822 they gobble and strut year round.
  13. I'm a newbie to shakey heads but the little bit I did last fall yamamoto kut tail worms, zoom trick worms, and other straight worms worked good.
  14. Pike can be found shallow before the water warms to much. They can also be found shallow where cold creeks come into the warmer water in the summer.
  15. If you can't throw a 5 inch senko on a mh avid you've got a reel, line or skill problem it ain't the rod.
  16. Are the small swimbaits like mimic minnows and slurpies swim shad going to replace the grub for smallmouth and walleyes? Alot of guys around here are switching to the swimbaits, and leaving the grubs and even in some cases the live bait at home. Few years ago the standard was a jig and grub or minnow now a good percentage of guys are throwing the swimbaits.
  17. Thanks for the link T-rig. About $3 a piece when you figure in shipping. I might try some but I have to wonder what they'll do different than a fat ika.
  18. I use 25# pline cxx on my swimbait set up it works fine but I'm sure there are thinner. I doubt any 25# mono, floru, or copoly is going to be thin. Braid would work fine. Musky guys have been throwing big baits on it for years. I'd go with heavy braid though so it would still be thick.
  19. Certainly diving in with a knife in your teeth would have worked better. ;D If it was a fish and not a snag I'd try and hook it again and take your time getting it in.
  20. I buy 6 inch huddleston or one of Mattlures soft baits before the ninja they are american made and proven. Matts baby bass is a good one and isn't much heavier than the ninja.
  21. 7' mh st.croix legend elite zillion reel 15# cxx I can't believe the amount of guys using spinning tackle and light line. I throw senkos and other plastics tight against cover and when a 6 pounder grabs hold I want to tail walk her arse right outta that cover.
  22. Any grub like kalins, or gy single tail grubs are good for trolling. Northland tackle mimic minnow and slurpies swim shad and swim shiner with or without the spinner are good for both trolling and casting I use them in place of grubs for both smallmouth and walleyes. They also have a northland slurpies swim n grub. Rapala original floaters, husky jerks, and similiar baits work good to. Spinnerbaits and swimbaits also will work.
  23. I wouldn't worry about that. That bass in your avatar would hit one.
  24. I've wondered about this lake too. Did you fish it? Suppose to have stripers on it and I believe the only place in Wisconsin with them.
