  1. The world record musky; 56" @ 69lbs, my PB musky was 47" @ 37 lbs. and is my longest and heaviest fresh water game fish. This musky was caught on light tackle fishing for smallies; 8 lb mono and 1/8 oz black hair jig. Spent many hours casting big musky lures and end catching this fish with my bass/walleye tackle, Lake of The Woods, Sabaskong bay. WRB The world record muskie was 63 inches and 69 pounds.
  2. If he wants to keep a big bass good for him its only hurting his chance of catching it later when even bigger. Really don't care if people keep a big bass other places won't affect me. You come to the places I fish and keep a big one I might get a little pizzed but I won't lose any sleep. Wish somebody with the taste for bass would come and keep a few hundred small males from the ponds I fish though.
  3. Natural colored jigs and plastics, brown, greens, black, and smoke. Don't be afraid to throw swimbaits either. Mattlures makes some great perch patterns and 3:16 does too.
  4. Just curious why is that bait worth $25? Looking at the pictures it looks like nothing special.
  5. Any darker color is good.
  6. I use a 7 foot medium heavy fast action casting rod for most plastics, most jigs, swimbaits, topwaters, spinnerbaits, inline spinners, crankbaits and jerkbaits. medium light fast action 6 foot spinning for small spinners, small jigs/grubs, and small plastics. swimbait rod 7'6" casting for swimbaits I'd say I do 90% with the casting equipment.
  7. Top water baits are my go to at night I like a bait I can go slow with and still make noise. Wake baits and walking baits are my favorites. If they aren't hitting on top big plastics worked slow.
  8. Same type but for whatever reason they get bigger in Europe. Pretty sure thats a dang big pike wherever they swim. Congrats.
  9. I don't think Wisconsin has anything like that. We have to much fishing to keep track.
  10. Some of mattlures stuff is less than 15 6 inch hudds 14.99 ;D Watch the classified section down below been some good swimbait deals on there.
  11. ammo the price keeps getting higher
  12. I'm not much of a crankbait thrower but I do always have a hornet with me. Caught largemouth, smallmouth, eyes, crappies and pike with them.
  13. Was going to send a pm but figured somebody else might like to know to. What container is best for storing your bluegill baits, both the soft and the hard. I don't want something big just something that will hold 4 of them. I fish from shore alot and have to carry everything so the more compact the better. Most plastic boxes are made for long skinny baits and don't work with yours. Would it be better to just modify a plano? Thanks.
  14. 1-4 usually closer to 1 than 4. Bringing as much stuff as alot of you guys would take alot of the fun out of fishing for me. There comes a point when fun becomes work and no longer is fun.
  15. I think it depends if you are trying to catch numbers of fish with the occasional big one matching the hatch isn't to important. If you are trying to catch the oldest biggest fish in the water swimbaits that look like the food can help alot. Theres more to matching the hatch then color too. If bass are eating bluegills and you throw a spinnerbait or crankbait with a bluegill pattern your not matching the hatch to well because they don't act like real fish in the water. I wish I had the patience to throw swimbaits all the time because I know I'd catch higher quality of fish even here in wisconsin.
  16. I'd use something I have a ton of confidence in. Then I'd just try and catch some fish then fine tune my tactics from there.
  17. Are you in or out? No whining allowed, see rule number 6. I'm in for Wisconsin.
  18. "Shimano is not always the answer. Diawa is not always the answer." True but if one isn't the answer the other one is. As far as ardent. I'll never find out how they are unless they decide to make a left hand retrieve.
  19. St.Croix They make rods in every shape and form and I can go up to the store and get factory seconds cheaper and alot of times can't even tell whats wrong with them. Made in a small town in Wisconsin don't hurt either.
  20. Season in most Wisconsin waters starts first saturday of May. Hard to win a contest when you have less time to do it in.
  21. Heres pretty much what I carry anytime for bass 1 7 foot m/h casting with a low profile reel and 12-17 pound copoly 1 swimbait rod with 17-25 copoly if I'm planning to throw alot of swimbaits but all the baits below I can throw on the m/h some 4/0 ewg some fat ikas in dark colors some senkos 5's or 6's and some 7's dark colors mattlures perch, bass, and gill or crappie spook baby wake perch 2 6 inch hudds in 2 different rof kuttail, or jellyworm and a variety of weights some heavy floru leaders if I'm throwing swimbaits where esox live
  22. I use a 7.1:1 zillion for everything from 1/4 ounces jigging for walleyes to 6 inch hudds for bass and pike. Just slow down.
  23. Walleyes, sauger, and pike are tops for waters I fish. Trout and salmon are of course good but they are in a different class than the white meat fish you listed you like. Panfish are also good but they fall behind the other 3 simply because of the smaller size.
