  1. Welcome. This forum will not help your addiction. I, personally, do not have a problem..... :-? 8-)
  2. That reel is always on sale or clearance at BPS as it is normally $100 but usually on sale for $80 and sounds like a better deal during the BPS classic. If you are interested in a quantum reel I would go with one of the PT series. I had the same issues with the BPS reel as I got one and never felt smooth after some time on the water. I cleaned it up and returned it and got another quantum. No problems with that one or any of my other quantum reels. I have no doubt quantum makes better reels. I paid $150 at the time. I also bought a Rick Clunn reel at the same time for less than $100. After fishing with both I felt ripped off for purchasing the KVD. Like I said, I am sure they make better reels.....I just wont be buying them. I also stopped relying on employees of these types of store for help with purchasing decisions.
  3. When I got back into fishing, a few years ago, the guy at bass pro talked me into a quantum KVD kv1000cxd. I fished with it twice and gave it to a guy I fish with regularly. He offered to pay me for it and I declined. I wouldnt risk a friendship taking money for the reel. It was my most expensive reel at the time and was noticeably worse in all areas than my cheaper reels. I learned my lesson.
  4. In that case, I say spoil yourself and blow your whole budget on a Cumulus. Hahah x2! It might take you longer to have the set up, but once you finally have it all pieced together I'm sure you'll be glad you had the patience! I have paid $280 or less for all but one of my Cumulus rods. That and a $165 CI4(have purchased three at that price from this forum and others) would be pretty close to his budget. :-X
  5. Id go CI4/cumara. You deserve it.
  6. If you dont mind buying from fellow forum members, I would try to get a new/used curado for around $140. and take the money you save and put that towards a revo premier or a different brand at the 260-280 range. That would give you two reels(one on the higher end) from two different and very good companies. I agree with Stasher1 on one thing....go to a shop and check out the reels you are interested in first. there may be something that instantly turns you off to some reels.
  7. Oh it rocks. I was just saying that if performance seems lower than you expect, it probably sat for a while before purchase. I agree. I want to learn to maintain my own reels to avoid problems like that. One day ill find the courage.
  8. I have nothing bad to say about my Winch. I like it better than my 2009 premier.
  9. Not bashing the Shimano posse, but there's an awful lot of "monkey see-monkey do" going on around here. There are lots of good reels out there, but you're about to covered up with Citica/Curado recommendations. I would like to see you reccomend something instead of making inflammatory comments that are not needed. Rangerphil- do you have a price range? I agree with skunked_again on what to use them for.
  10. I do not see this as Shimano problem. What happens when they decide not to honor warranty on your favorite brand of rods? I am sure they have to send back rods that are damaged during shipping to their store. It would cost them nothing to send one more rod back. Its called customer service. Or in this case, a disservice to the customer.
  11. Glad you got it figured out. Let us know how you like the new rod.
  12. Please keep us updated. Im curious how it holds up over time and your opinion compared to other types of materials.
  13. Have you used a rod with that handle before? How does it compare to cork?
  14. That seems silly of BPS. They are eliminating reasons to shop at their store. What benefit do I get by traveling a couple of hours to one of their stores? If I have to deal with the manufacturer there is no reason for me not to purchase online.
  15. I like the looks of whatever that is then.

  17. I'd contact Shimano and explain your problem to them. They might just surprise you.
  18. I love the look of the cork on those fenwick rods.

  21. It varies from state to state. The law in Michigan is there to protect the consumer. I do believe Michigan is trying to change the law so just the use of shelf tags is sufficient. The law itself is not bad(like most laws). Its the people that abuse or even lie to take advantage of laws like this.
  22. Dude, thieves swap tags all the time. All that law does is handcuff retailers, and encourage thieves. I ran retail stores for 10 years, record stores and pet shops, and it was hard enough just to keep merch walking out the door, let alone micromanage who priced what, LOL. As far as the original post, any Dick's I've been to had little shelf stands with the PRODUCT MODEL and PRICE clearly marked, not always the individual items. So, the card probably said "Revo S $99.99" and a Revo SX was behind it. If you think the store owes you a reel at $100, think again. if you were in my store, and complained long enough, you'd be escorted out the front door. My favorite comeback for jerks that threatened to tell all their friends not to come, was "Good, they're probably jerks, too," LOL. Look guys, all this swindling does is raise a retailers shrink, which increases their bottom line. Guess where they make that up.... Something is an honest mistake, point it out, most will give it to you for that price, within reason. I never said it worked. That is how things are priced at walmart, with each employee having to put in their number. Try taking a properly attatched price sticker off. It will most likely tear. If you feel so strongly about it contact walmart and tell them how they are wasting time. I was just passing along what I know about the walmarts in my area. LOL...thanks for the education in retail.........
  23. If a price sticker is attatched properly it would be hard to remove w/o destroying it in the process. Walmart around here has their own stickers and each employee has a number that goes on each sticker they use. This helps keep track of who is making pricing errors and also lets you know if a customer used their own tags. With anything in life, people will try to cheat the system. Seems like a lot of work to save a few bucks. EDIT: As far as the law goes.....I guess it would be considered stealing/fraud and be treated as such???? Just guessing.
  24. I would ship it to your destination using fedex or ups.
  25. In what part of the legal code is that located? http://www.michigan.gov/ag/consumer_protect/alerts/item+pricing+(scanner+law)+frequently+asked+question+32008 We have laws about pricing here.
