  1. Does anyone recognize the swimbait and jighead that Aaron Martens was using on St.Clair?
  2. http://www.majorleaguefishing.com/News_Details_No_Photo.aspx?id=1353
  3. I have the fingerless White River BPS fleece gloves, definintely worth the couple bucks I paid for it.
  4. been searching for a while, taking a break haha. yeah, i had a casting reel pop off on the hookset, it was hillarious then, even more hilarious now actually.
  5. funny, but not the one i'm looking for.
  6. Does anyone have the link to mikeybalzz's youtube video where he sets the hook and the reel comes off the reel seat?
  7. Trying to get into fly fishing for steelhead, can someone point me in the right direction with some articles or a forum? so far i've been chuck & ducking and I wanna get into indicator fishing but I have no idea where to start, what kind of line and how to tie up the rig etc. for those of you who don't know what chuck and duck is heres a quick rundown. http://globalflyfish...shbetter/chuck/
  8. My small collection, the oddball revo STX was given to me as a gift so we'll see how it performs on the water this spring! If it's not up to par I'm swapping it out for another 200e7 haha. 3 heavy power fast action casting rods and 1 medium fast spinning. There's 65lb sufix performance braid on the 3 casting reels and I plan to put some smaller diameter braid on the spinning reel too. My ways are very unconventional but they work for me!
  9. so tempted to try out the big-o footblals but the lakes are starting to freeze over here. :'(
  10. Braid with no leader unless it's crystal clear with sparse cover then I'll add a foot or two of 17-20lb fluorocarbon leader tied with an alberto knot.
  11. I just got to mess around with my 805 flip, it's EXTREMELY lightweight for a 8ft heavy action rod! It also balances quite well with and without a reel. The only complaint I have is the butt section is a tad short. The action and power feel spot on from what I can tell, I'm gonna go test it out on the water tomorrow and I'll report back. If cost wasn't an issue for me I would've definitely gotten the 795, but the 805 will do for now. I've read that the 795 has a very similar action and power but it's way more sensitive, lighter and it balances even better than the 805.
  12. I just ordered the dobyns 805 flip/punch rod, i haven't gotten a chance to use it yet though. Through my recent research people say you can't beat the "Dobyns Extreme Flip 795". I couldn't afford the extreme so i settled with the 805 champion.
  13. dobyns 805 punch/flip 1oz nojack jig 1&1/4 oz nojack jig free tacklewarheouse t-shirt tackle warehouse longsleeve (4.99 discount price for purchasing rod) free *** sticker 20% off total order $5 2 day shipping. all of that including shipping was less than the original retail price of the rod, i'm a happy camper.
  14. follow the instructions on daiwa's website, their customer service is great.
  15. Just wondering if anyone has used the Dobyns 805 flip/punch and if you could give me any insight about the rod. I prefer a more parabolic action like St.Croix offers but I refuse to buy any of the new legend tournaments because the reel seat and handles are hideous! I've heard that Dobyns delivers a very similar action in a more attractive/ergonomic package. I plan to pair it with either a revo stx or curado e7 with 80lb suffix braid, it'll be my main rod for punching and flipping moderate to heavy cover with 5/8-1 1/4 jigs or punch rigs. I usually wouldn't rely on someone else' opinion but there isn't a retailer in my area that has the Dobyns 805 flip/punch in stock.
  16. i owned it for a few weeks, didn't really like it so i sold it to a friend. it made a decent lipless/squarebill or spook rod though.
  17. good stuff right here! if it wasn't snowing outside i would have ordered some already!
  18. red is cherry flavored while blue is blueberry.
  19. Same, along with everyone else i know.
  20. freaking awesome!! i'll be making my first trip to northern michigan for steelhead this weekend, hopefully i get something worth posting.
  21. now if we can only do something about those pistons again!
  22. the way you treat your rods scares me.
  23. I'm running both dry and unshielded/sealed right now. I don't mind the sound it makes because I'm only making short pitches with them. I also like the fact that line peels off a bit easier when free spooled so I don't have to peel line like a mad man to get my lure to do a vertical drop. I guess it's kind of like the noise that braid makes on recoil guides, some people like it, some hate it and others just don't care.
  24. To make it worst I lost three more today HAHAHA! First cast to some standing timber and I stuck a PIG!! second cast lost the jig to the tree (5/8oz), tie on another one (1oz) and it gets hung up and i lose it on the first cast. 3rd one wasn't actually lost I straightened the hook out on a different tree. (It took a lot of effort to straighten out the hook btw.) Did I mention I fish some gnarly stuff hahaha. Like they say, if you don't lose a few jigs every day you aren't doing it right. I love the hook, the wired tied skirts are GREAT and VERY evenly distributed, paint has yet to chip either. I've yet to fish it in any grass or pads yet, we'll save that for the weekend. So far I'm pretty happy though, I'll probably be using it exclusively and picking up more if it does well in the grass this weekend. I must emphasize the quality of the jig, uneven skirt distribution and the skirt coming loose after a few crazy hook sets or snags are my biggest pet peeves but this jig hasn't let me down yet!!
