  1. 1. Wiggle wart anything craw looking 2. Extreme bass tackle tubes 3. Jig n craw 4. Spinnerbait with lots of flash, I use a quad willow from reddirtbaits 5. Culprit incredicraw on a shakeyhead
  2. The 751 is a mag-lite that's why I'm looking at it. It has a very similar action to the 822 it's just shorter. It has a really soft tip but lots of backbone. 90% of the time I use 1-8 or 1/4 oz jigs, which the 751 looks perfect for. Right now I use a grandt 6' med and it works good but it doesn't have a soft enough tip for the lighter weight jigs.
  3. I agree about the Nrx but I'm looking for a light weight jig rod for 1/16-3/8 oz jigs for walleye. I think I'm gonna go with the wjr751s glx
  4. thats kinda how I have felt when I used a LE they always seem nice but not to the level of the GLX, it just drives me nuts that Loomis sold out to a foreign company.
  5. I figured you'd be the first to comment:) is the croix as sensitive as the glx? I can get either one for $275 new so cost isn't an issue. I have a 843 and 844 glx and love them and I also have had a couple LEs and they are nice also.
  6. I am looking for a new light jig rod and am looking at these 2 rods. I've never had a GLX spinning rod so I'm just wondering how the 2 compare. As far as warranty I've been hearing that loomis is a pain to deal with, is this true? Any info or opinions on these rods would be appreciated. thanks
  7. I'd go with the powell max's or the cumara's that TW has pn sale right now as long as you can find what you want.
  8. I have one and I use it for tubes in open water. It's a blast to get a 4-5lb smallie on.
  9. anybody tried these? I almost bought one at a show but I am always hesitant to buy something I haven't heard much about. They seem to be nice rods but anybody can make their rods seem nice. Anybody have any opinions on them?
  10. I am looking to add a frog rod to my arsenal and would appreciate any input possible. If at all possible I would prefer a rod that I could use for other applications as well. Here are the couple I've been looking at Dobyns Champion 684, 703, 704, 734 denali 6'10" frog rod I am open to any other suggestions and price is not important.
  11. I am looking for something that I can throw everything from square bills to wigglewarts to lipless cranks. Anybody fish the dobyns 765?
  12. Like the title says I am looking for a 7'6" cranking rod and am having a hard time deciding any recommendations would be helpful
  13. I have used xrap rip baits on St. Claire in the past with some success. Pink was the color I had the best luck with. I have found that wiggle warts catch more fish than any jerkbaits I have tried. I am sure there are others who like jerkbaits but I just haven't found one that produces consistently there.
  14. I just saw a sweet new smallie bait at the ultimate sport show in Grand Rapids MI. made by garneau baits... hand poured in Lowell MI. Below is a youtube link of it in a tank and also a link to their site. I talked to them for quite a while and they are great guys. www.garneaubaits.com
  15. In that price range I would look at a shimano either clarus or compre right now there is a mail in rebate on both and they have a lifetime warranty.
  16. I would for sure try an alphas/sol. I tried a sol a couple years ago and they are the best feeling reel for me... it is all personal opinion so just try some and see what fits good. I have 3 alphas and 2 sols and they are very compfortable for and entire day of fishing... I would maybe try the e50 if you are looking for a reel with a smallish profile. I have med size hands but prefer and very small reel so to me you can't beat the alphas or sol. When it come to quality I haven't used a reel that feels better than my alphas.
  17. I just picked up a loomis GLX 802 and an 803. I need to get a couplr reels for them and can't decide. I want to make sure I get the right reels to begin with and not have to try a bunch of different reels. I am initially thinking a Sol, Alphas, Zillion, Curado 51, Chronarch 51mg, core. Any suggestions would be awesome, especially from someone who has used these rods. thnaks
  18. I have bought an alphas r, pixy and tdz all from japan with no problems, although none were from a japanese ebayer.
  19. hows the reel? What would you compare it to?
  20. can you get the micro for the same as the standard rod?
  21. BPS has these combos for @ $200, which seems like a decent price. I have never had a pflueger or BPS rod so any opinions would be much appreciated. The XT looks sweet. I am looking at the 7MH with the 30 size reel. Any other recommendations for a similar setup would be appreciated but I'm trying to stay around $200 which I know is tough to do and still get good stuff, but I am not sure how much i will use a MH spinning setup. thanks
  22. We always go the friday before musky and sat (the musky opener, I believe the first sat in june) most of us target the smallies but once in a while pickup the musky stick. This last year was quit tuff, the water was very dirty but we still caught over 200 keeper size smallies with 3 boats in a day and a half. We also got 5 muskies as well. We always put in at selfridge and fish from the salt river flats south to the marina and alway find plenty of action.
  23. looking at picking up a longer smallie rod and I keep going back to this. Any info on it would be appreciated.
