  1. No topwater on Guntersville yet and already caught 100 in TN on topwater...wacky season so far here. The usual cadence of things has been off kilter here in Southern Arkansas / North Louisiana seems like to me. I've even heard something about the Tsunami causing things to off. Hoping to start catching a few late on spook types soon but not much to speak as of yet....Yellow Magic should usually starts popping in May around these parts.
  2. If i had to choose one it would be Lucky Craft Flat CB SR. They are a little finicky to cast but they are hunters of fish and handling requires extreme caution. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220756161420&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT I never did like the color schemes on these. I do have 4 more that I would stand in front of a bullet for tho
  3. yes they are discontinued and have been for a while. Rumor has it they are to be reintroduced but in Lucky Craft's Saltwater line up. Hopefully you'll allow me to buy yours because I like the ones I have.
  4. I bet Fishing elbow alone doesn't qualify as an ache or pain and a bruised ego or hurt feelings probably don't count. lol I'm 37 with all the above........sometimes ;D Could someone give a chronological order to the ailments ahead that will reduce time spent searching for remedies and help with my future OFFC membership What's after Fishing Elbow!!! :-?
  5. it is a great price. But I don't won't to drop a hundred and not use it. I probably will get it for one place in particular that I used the only 6' I have. I haven't had much time on the water with the Cumara's but I had enough to know they are pretty nice. New premier for 188.00 on Amazon 2 days ago.
  6. I acquired the 7'11" MH Ex Fast Cumara in a trade and Cabelas has the 6'3"H Fast on sale for $109.00. Does anyone have any experience with these they could share? I have a another 6'0 rod that I have not used much at all. Am i missing out on something with rods shorter than 6'6"? I haven't had a chance to try the 7'11 since I got it. Would like it to be a deep diving crank rod? Description says lipless in sparse / heavy grass etc etc. Thanks in advance for the input.
  7. I am right handed and hold my fishing rod with my left hand. I am experiencing constant pain and discomfort in my left elbow. Hard to describe exactly where but if you put your right hand over your left and push up with the left against the right where my pain is. The outer bone of my left elbow is sore to touch even. Is this "Tennis Elbow"? Started 6-7 days ago after spending all night fishing. Today I put ice (frozen meal in a bag of somekind) on it but it seemed to make it stiffer. Going to get a sleeve or something it really feels like I need a sling.
  8. On my home lake we have an awesome swim bait bite that gets going as the water temps approach 55 degrees. Main creek cuts in and parallels a flat for 50 yards or so. It also has road bed running down the other side of it. Kinda shaped like a l__ (flip). The flat has moderately deep holes from archeological dig and they are feeding on bream. Its crazy good from crack of dawn til about 45 minutes after sun comes up over the trees. We catch them on a variety of storm swim baits. When we can get on a boil spooks, traps (smaller ones), deep and shallow cranks work too. After it dies off we fish jigs along creek. These fish are crapping all over from being so full too. Its like they are scared they aren't going to eat again. Have never seen anything like it that you could hang your hat on like this besides a wacky worm in April here. 2 years ago today was when I caught my PB. They were "doin it" pretty good before water temp warmed back up. I bet yesterday and today were awesome after this big front come thru. I had to come back to work.
  9. Well I got to visit the big Sam last week and weekend. Fished out of Jackson Hill and got on a couple of patterns that we couldn't capitalize on. The bigger fish we missed were on hollow body swimbaits on the main lake points they were better with a little wind naturally. Missed some good fish also in the very back of the pads. We would pull in and go as far back as possible and miss one fish per patch. Caught fish on Carolina (15") around an old cemetery that we probably should have pounded a little harder. We had to make a 6 hour round trip to swap boats Friday evening. Hit a deer on the way and made it back in time for showers and to load a reel or two. Take off and a ski mask gets in our prop and things never really seemed to get lined out. For us anyway BUT I can't see not visiting more often thats for sure. What an awesome place. If i were building one thats the way I would do it!
  10. I use Cavitrons and I like them. I have been using the shakey heads since early spring and I like them. I just took a peak at the jigs again just to jog my memory ... Duuuude!
  11. I just loaded up on lipless cranks (red, red, and reds) and frogs to bring down there next Thursday. What's this wacky business? lol I am gonna have to load up everything and bring it I guess. After fishing Texoma and Red River with no limit combined I'm hoping to catch some fish down there lol.
  12. Inhibitor VCI Pro Chips work for me
  13. So what's the point of the barb being on a hook if there is no benefit? To keep the plastics on? I wish my top water was barbless about 2 summers ago, but our skin is more comparable to a catfish than a bass. How do you know that "i rarely lose a fish due to a hook slipping out" Of course I try not to allow any slack but sometimes on that hookset your gonna rippem open a litte more or pull them towards you some but hey apparently some folks are perfect lol. I read the article and I will give it a try in certain waters. Where I fish the most every cast has the chance of a new state and or lake record (13.84 lake& 16+state) so it won't be there.
  14. I noticed that most of the hooks I have a wimpy barb. Most of them are Gamakatsu but I have a little of everything as I'm sure most of us do. The Mihatchii's have a bigger barb than the rest. Half the fish I missed or pulled off I am now contributing to NO BARB lol. Don't givem no slack takes on another meaning after a closer observation of my hooks tonight! I guess just start winching them right out of the water and ski them to the boat? What am I missing I would think the more the better?
  15. With a lure rating of 4oz to 10oz is this rod good for anything besides swimbaits? If I were to buy could I expedite it for another model if i don't find a use for it?
  16. So when should the topic of thermocline depth be discussed?
  17. Best on the web IMO too....they'll make it right!
  18. One of my partners sent me a couple of pics dead mussels. I am working so I can't see first hand. I just hope it isn't a sign that the coontail has been sprayed or anything else is wrong for that matter. The coontail has (in the past three years) started growing in places it used to be before the introduction of the grass carp (emurs?). Any ideas?
  19. time trips around rising and falling moons. I stay all night and have noticed they're little more active during these times. I have also taken note of the wind picking up during these times. Weightless 10" worms, split shot assasins, all frogs, big colorada spinnerbait, buzz. I like to get in a place and let it all settle down and then get ninjafied. Pitch instead of slangin for instance or deadsticking an assasin I like to use scents more at night too. Wobbleheads with a black n blue saphire trick worm
  20. We take the needle nose and snap their jaws same thing with the jackfish (southern chain pickeral). You have to catch one like the 47"er to have a descent portion without a bone. Them folks that run track in those white rubber boots (jk) make gar balls out of them.
  21. They love flouro line and if you use a buzz bait hot ol mighty. I have turned the Sonar off before to see if that helps dunno....They are just waiting for that big spinnerbait to come out of the water or when you use brass n glass w/ a keeper set about 8" above the hook eye and rage tail craw..looks like kung fu theater around your rod tip. Its been a chillier this spring here so I expect an onslaught soon when it warms on up.
  22. I agree with above post ....
  23. I like it on a sled head pitched in dollar pads and reeled along surface dropping when and where you feel like. Works like a frog but different profile.
  24. I have been trying to mix the hollow body in when I am fishing weeds etc. I can not get them hooked. They knock the dog out of it and then they are gone. How do rig them for this? I guess it depends on how they hit it is how to determine how to set the hook . I know in the fall when we use the big heavy swimbaits we just keep reeling until they load up.
