  1. Dicks has this reel on sale for 79.99. Simply do a dicks coupons search on google and you will find a 10$ off 50$ coupon to make it 69.99. My dad and I both bought one.
  2. No doubt we got a great group of guys here and I'm looking forward to meeting you all in person.
  3. I'd make sure to ask about the net situation. Some guys want you to be crazy fast on a net and others don't want you to use one at all. I had one guy who wanted all my rods on one side so I could get to the net like a cat on tuna fish. While others would prefer to simply lip the fish instead of taking a chance with a net. Also be rigged up and ready to go when you arrive at the boat ramp and DON'T BE LATE!!
  4. This time of year the jerbait is a good bet. One of my partners had one tied on during the first trip out while I was throwing a jig. The jerkbait clearly out caight the jig. The next trip out the fish had moved out to the points but were still keying on the shad and they went nuts for the jerkbaits.
  5. Throw some Megastrike lube on there and you got somthing those big females really like!!! ;D
  6. I live in the midwest and water temps have made there way up to 48 in the cold spots and 53 in the hot parts. The fishing has been off the hook my last two trips with over 25 fish caught on my last trip. It was at the point you can't even count the fish any more. I had a chance to talk to other guys who fished that day and if you weren't fishing with a hard jerkbait you weren't catching many fish. It doesn't matter if it's a rouge, strike king, or a lucky craft jerkbait just tie one on. Find the warmest water and some shad if you can, because it's time for some JERKING!! ;D
  7. Cough, cough, maybe..... One of my friends draged me out there again today to fish a small fish off between a few of his buddies. We ended up catching over 30 fish and had the big bass.
  8. Well it's been a struggle for me the last few trips out on a boat fishing. I had a tourney last month on a power plant lake and got skunked and my confidence here recently has been low. I'm just not to used to fishing this time frame for bass. Since I've gotten into my bass club I've had to focus more on bass right now when historically I'm usually fishing for crappie with my dad. With that said this past year I've did tons of reading on this board and it's articles plus hours of TV shows and learned tons about early spring patterns and where to generally to look. Today I took out my partner for my next tourney out on the lake to prefish. We have had some crazy hot and high winds out of the south east the last few days and decided to focus on spots that would be getting the warm air and water blown into. For the first couple hours it was slow fishing but we found a great little cove that was just perfect with a 5 degree increase in water temps and the shad loaded up in there. We then literally loaded up on our limit in half a hour with at one point both of having a fish on at the same time and catching 3 fish in 3 casts. So now I'm super pumped for our Tourney next week!! Tons can change in a week but at least I feel like were onto something. Here's a pick of my partners 4 pounder.
  9. I'm getting ready to head out the door and mail my registration form with a money order. I know the deadline is coming up and thought I post the info and PM anybody who needs more specific info from me.
  10. I have these and love them.
  11. I was shocked Thursday when I caught a bass while trout/crappie fishing. Our lakes have been frozen over here in Southern IL with some serious snow fall a few weeks ago. Then a nice warm front that lasted about a week finally unfroze the lakes and melted all the snow. The result has been some high water. So my dad and me went to a local clear lake that has some awesome fishing below the spillway when waters high. Well the spillway was crazy with very high current and we didn't see a bight. So we went above the spillway and my dad hooked up with a trout with his bobber at only about 3 or 4ft. I was at the same depth and hooked up with a fish and was shocked when it was a LMB. My only guess was that it was up sunning itself. We actually took it and the trout home to clean and the LMB was to our shock full of eggs.
  12. Sept 1 or 2nd 2008 7lbs and like 231/2 inches long I think. She was caught on a Spro Frog.
  13. Ok great I thought the road trip registration was closed. Should I just print out the form and mail the money with it?
  14. I did some searching on them a couple weeks back and came across a guys who appeared to get riped off. He ordered a reel that was about to be released when they said they had it in stock. He never got the reel or a response from them and he had to dispute the charge on his CC. I'd see if Tackle Warehouse won't PM them instead of possibly getting ripped off over a couple bucks.
  15. Here is a pick from the show where the bass appears to be "bed watching" for humans. ;D

    New PS3 game

I love videogames and have been successful at getting the whole family into them. My little sister stole my Wii, my older sister now has a 360 ,because I've gotten my niece and nephew abscessed with Viva Pinata. I've also got my mom and dad hooked on Jewel Quest and Luxor. My niece who just turned 7 will often come into my room when she stays over and asks are you/ can we play videogames and I have to tell her no not right now I'm on Bass Resource. ;D
  17. Yeah TW is great and I've had posts where I've talked on and on about that. I guess it just blows my mind BPS doesn't have a better shipping system. They make many BPS exclusive products and carry a nice selection but I'm not going to pay $6 to ship a $15 pair of fishing gloves. I guess i just feel like I shouldn't ever have to pay more then $5 for shipping unless it's a large item that requires extra postage. I can see rods costing more or heavy items but I should be able to order a reel, gloves, and a few lures and it not cost more then $5 to ship. I guess I'm spoiled TW gives me free shipping on orders over $50. Amazon gives me free shipping on orders over $25 and many places that work with google and ebay offer low to no cost shipping options. The only thing I can figure is they have had the catalog business long before they had the Internet. So they based there shipping prices on the "Catalog fishing market" and just brought that over to the Internet side and that was a mistake. There is allot more competition out there on the Internet and their crazy over priced shipping model is just well crazy! >
  18. Well I just had to say their prices for shipping make no sense. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels it's insane to charge more for shipping if you spend more. They need to seriously revamp there system. I looked at buying a reel in the $60-$150 range and the shipping would just kill any good pricing. They still got my money this time because my family and I went up there for my birthday but they still loose allot of my business because of there crazy shipping charges. It's crazy because I look in there catalogs and visit their website but rarely order from them because of the shipping issue. I usually end up with TW on online orders. I also end up saving a fortune because I don't pay tax or shipping like I do with BPS. On a $50 order of gear it ends up being about a $13 savings. Not to mention it shouldn't cost so much to mail a little reel. To bad BR members don't have some secret free shipping code! ; :'( ;D
  19. NG usually does great stuff. So I'm really looking forward to this special. I don't know if anybody caught the Air Force one and Marine One special but they were also very cool.
  20. You initial thought about spinning gears having lower gear ratios is usually true, but what you do not realize is that you cannot equate this supposed low gear ratio to those from casting reels. Spools on spinning reels can be big and as a result, they can recover more line than a typical casting reel despite their "lower" gear ratio. Take a look at the 2500 Symetre FJ. It a gear ratio of 6.2:1 which is lower that the typical "burner" casting reel, yet it recovers 35" of line, which is more than a burner reel. I like to use both setups for cranks. If the casting reel can toss it, I'd probably use it because of the lower line recovery rate, but on the other side of the coin, spinning rigs cast lighter cranks more easily. Bottom line I think it boils down to personal preference. Cranking with a spinning rig feels more comfortable to me, but I do use both. That's what I like about BPS's website they list the recovery rate for most reels. I just got a new KVD baitcaster for cranking that has a 5.1.1 ratio the brings in 21inches per crank. It was nice to be able to compare it to other reels and ratio's. I also have a crazy theory about spinning reels. With spinning reels I often don't have a very steady retrieve it sputters in a strange erratic action. This action seemed to give me more reaction strikes on buzz frogs and other baits. I prefer the feel of baitcasting equipment and don't use spinning reels often but I guess it's my new year resolution to try and use the spinning set up more often. Also Hunt4Hawgs if your going to throw some large cranks a baitcaster is the way to go.
  21. Baby gonna go nightie nightie....
  22. I used the Diawa frod rod this fall as a worm/rig rod and it was GREAT!
  23. Yeah I'm going crazy with my reel purchase as well. I don't have a cranking reel yet. I would like one but I'd hate my most expensive reel as of yet to be so slow I can't use it for flipping and pitching or for top water. I'm looking at the Citica 200e ,Curado E5, Revo SX, and a Revo S. I played with the Citica E and Revo SX in store and the SX was tons smother. This nagged on me because I have a Diawa Megaforce and that thing is the opposite of smooth and I end up loving it when I can go to my dicks brand Field in stream reel that has 10BB in it. So I'd hate to spend 100$ on a reel that I hate to use. On the other hand I prefer the centrifuse brake system over magnetic ones. I have a abu garcia Silvermax and I do like it a fair amount but it's spool comes close to backlashing on me a fair amount. So basically I want a reel that can help with my pitching a flipping distance yet slow crank well and of course bast a mile and still land on a dime. ;D Oh lets not forget skip under docks like a dream! The other problem I have is the more I spend on a reel the less I have for a fish finder.
  24. I hate paypal now. My problem came with them when I sold some PS3's on ebay when it launched, We had one deposit literally taken back out of our bank account. Then even after having the buyers confirm they received each PS3 it was often a couple weeks or more before they would give us our money. It was nothing more then Ebay and Paypal trying to make money off interest with our money. I'm glad other auction sites have poped up like amazon, best buy private auction, ect.
