Well this one had been drained to rebuild the dam that had seen some issues several years back during some heavy flooding. The work was completeded a few years ago and restocked. It was reopened to fishing last year, but this was my first trip back for fishing. I was very glad to see the vegetation back so strong.
He was in good and I was about to wade out and grab him when he shook free. Had about 20 blow ups but only able to land a few. Its some thick stuff! I'm just glad to see my old honey hole coming back after being drained a few years ago.
Ok guys I've made it in and I'm at the inn for the night and I kidnapped the old man! I had planned on staying with Zippow friday and saturday but the old man got talked Into going last night when I was packing. So unless somebody has a cabin room to rent out, I think we will stay at the inn. G2G see u guys tonight.
I might catch hell for this but IMHO Elaztech makes for a harder hook up. It's very "gooey" for lack of a better word and at times i find i have some hook up issues if your hiding the hook point in the bait at all.
When I arrived last year i seem to remember you two in the parking lot with beers in hand. Who knew only a few hours later Kent would catch or rather somebody else in a boat would land his what 8 pounder? I swear if I had caught anything over 5lb's I would have lodged a protest.
Well yesterday I replaced my trailer bunks, new power cable for my side image, new feul connectors for my fuel line, and was able to test her out on the water for a few hours. So I'll be there with my boat Thursday at safe light at the State Landing ramp if anybody needs a seat!
Now I just need to buy some chartreuse JJ's from somewhere!

I'll look over the website again. Do we still have to use snail mail or is the form in a digital format yet? Btw I usually don't send that form in until I get 100% approval from work and I can only get that 4 weeks out. I've went over this trip every year for 4 years now with my boss and I'm always told the same thing submit your request when it's a month out. Mike I know it helps allot to have those things in to you guys as soon possible and I'm sorry mine always takes so long.

Ok guys im about to make my later reservations for the inn. Think I'm going to reserve from Thursday night to Saturday night. I don' get off of work until around 3pm on Wednesday and it a little over 4 hours for me to get there. So I think I'm going to catch some zzz's after work save some money and just show up ready to fish at 5 or 6 am Thursday morning. So before I make the final call does anybody have anything they want to share room wise on those days???????????
I sure hope so, but he bailed on me last minute last year. So I'm scared to make any "plans" with him this year. I'll either make him pay me for part of a cabin up front a month in advance, or he can sleep on the floor otherwise! I should have my boat primed and ready Mike so you can count me as a boater. I'll try to get ya a register sheet at some point.
Here is situation guys. I'm looking at going from Friday until Monday. Ive been off the boards lately and don't know what the cabin situation is but if anybody has a spot for those day send me a pm and let me know what the cost will be.
Also if there is enough people for another cabin let me know and we can see what is available and what the cost is. I plan on bringing my boat as long as nothing blows up like last year lol. I love Pickwick and crushed it on the last roadtrip so I'm going to do my best to be there. I don't see any complications as to why I couldn't. So if you need a roomy or are interested in getting a cabin or whatever pm ans lets see what we can work something out.
Last time we caught a hundred fish per day no joke. I doubt that will happen again but it's a special place to me. Best week of my life last time I'd say.

Seriously guys this was the best week of fishing I and many others had in our lives last time! This time I'll be bringing my boat or if my old man comes his boat.
I'd say there is a VERY good chance your lake doesn't have very many big fish in it. My suggestion is if you can catch small ones all day long like u said. Well then start easting them ASAP! I'm not kidding find your local biologist ask about the last time he surveyed the lake if he has. Relate to him the problem your having and see about trying to form a lake management plan. That 6 pounder proably was able to get to that size because it's one of the early fish that was stocked there and more like it would help. A fish that size could easly eat some of the smaller bass but if you dont have enough of them the small ones take over and get stunted.
Now if you don't have a overpopulation of little ones and are just having problems finding big ones. Well then I'd find that spring!!! We don't have huge springs like you guys do in FL but if you can find one here in summer. Well man the bass love that cooler water! Try some swim baits that have a little size to them if the waters clear. Something like a Sebile Magic Swimmer might be your ticket. On the other hand if you have some grass mats go buy a spro frog and some braided line and learn to frog wish. It's my favorite style of fishing.
Everybody has given you great info and I hope this guy was joking. I like a rods heavy to stiff MH that is 7ft to 7'4 and if possible a little give at the tip to help walk the frog. I throw 40lb braid simply because of the smaller diameter. I want that smaller diameter so I can cast it further. I cast my frogs a mile because IMHO i'm hunting for big fish that spook easy. I want to get that lure as far away from me as possible and make that frog look as natural to the environment as possible. I use the uni knot Power Pro recommends and the knot doesn't fail me.
Now as far vegetation goes a 7.1 or close to it is a huge help, because you need to get that fish moving in a hurry. Try the best you can to get it on top of the vegetation as quickly as you can. I even use the trolling motor to help pull the fish up and out of the vegetation sometimes. With that said there is a point you have to realize it's not coming up and I have to get him. When this happens be careful to not put slack in your line. Sometimes that frog will just drop out.
'This is a good recommendation IMHO. The main reason is the quality of what was suggested is very high for the price and with the proper care will last you for years, Baitcasters at the 50$ price point are going to give out on you after about one season typically. While this spinning set up has a higher chance of lasting you for years. A 7ft Rod is going to give you some power and briad will teach you allot about how things feel. You should be able to fish a ton of different things with this set up, from mid sized cranks to jigs and senkos/yum dinger. You don't have to use braid with this set up but keep in mind braid will last you a VERY long time. BTW are you in a boat or on land?
So I'm heading to KY lake for a few days and I'm planing way points out ect and it occurs to me the lake is down by three ft from summer pool. I was going to just off set the map with this info but then it occurs to me KY lake has different lake levels they keep it at different times of the year. So what lake level is Navioncs basing there depth readings on? Does anybody know where to look to get this info?
Guys I don't know how to some it up. All I can say is after a long drive to bama I was tired and stressed out from traffic, but as soon as I walked in the hotel to see Long Mike and the guys i had a smile on the rest of the week. Each night and morning we all had a great time together. I was stressed I didn't bring a boat but I shouldn't have been. I had a ride each day and offers for more if I needed it. Traveler was a AWESOME room mate and WMD was great at our little trip to Pickwick as well.. I cant wait to go there at out next Roadtrip!! HINT HINT!
