  1. UNI! Since I've went to it I litterally can't remember breaking off at the knot or one coming undone.
  2. This is spot on info guys! Also The Cabelas no vis fluro is made by Seagur as well. So far it's my favroit of all the fluro I've used. I like InvisxX allot but it's fairly high on price and has a little more stretch then other fluro's. I find red label is pure awful in terms of manageability and I've also went threw several other brands. So far Cabela's fluro offers great performance at a great price. It has less strech then InvisX but still handles very well. I haven't spooled up really heavy pound test yet either though. However I am about to spool up some 20# test on my flipping rod this weekend.
  3. Doesn't surelife that we got at the roadtrip also help get rid of the chlorine in ice??
  4. Long Mike I got a new boat I'll be bringing it's pictured here. It should be able to fish three fairly easy. My dad is coming but the whole point to us is to meet new people and fish with them. So there will be days I'm sure where he or I would love to fish with somebody else also. No matter what though we will always have at lease one spot open for a fellow angler!
  5. Wow I'm kind of surprised that there have been a few accidental set offs. My dad and I have been looking at the BPS branded ones that go for like 100$ and the manual that is 10$ less. Here is my thinking I"m trying to get around. First I'm cheap and a good swimmer. I use to compete when I was younger and even today, fat and all I can swim without using much energy. However I'm smart enough to know it's the accidental part that you wear one. I worry about being knocked unconscious or fainting ect and drowning. To me that means you have to go automatic for those reasons. I'm not worried about being in the watter and councess and you would need to be for a manual one. So personally that leaves me with the only option of getting a Auto. So I'm looking at all the angles and I don't want to have to spend 100$ and then 50$ twice a year because I wore it in a rain storm ect.
  6. Thank's for the replies guys and when I get some time I'll send ya some PM's. Bass-Brat I plan on trying to talk to some of the different Rad departments we have and see if I can't shadow them for a day to see what it's like.
  7. I've been looking at picking up a couple of these and are comparing them to the manual ones. The ONLY concern with the auto is I've heard horror stories of them setting off in the rain. Any truth to these stories? Also how easy would they go off in storage if it rains?
  8. Great pics man! I just love posts like these!!!
  9. Well man I'm super pumped!!!! Many of you probably remember that I bought a used boat and ran into some issues right away with the motor. Well after using seafoam and some other carb cleaner we had no luck. So we took her into the shop and iy turned out the stater (I think upper stater) and another part were bad. It ended up runing a little over 400$ to fix but we goter done! At least I talked the guy down 300$ when I bought her LOL. Anyways my dad, my Niece and I took her out for the first time. I think you can tell by the vid and picks who the Captain of this vessel is. Oh,, make sure to turn down your volume before playing.
  10. I've been thinking about going into this field. I'm currently a Instrument Tech at our local hospital. They offer tuition reimbursement if your going to go into a medical field or any position they could hire you in. I've read this is a field with a lot of openings and fairly high pay. I'd like to find out what anybodies thoughts are about this field that work in it.
  11. Well I grew up not using a net period, but now I'm in a bass club. We get to use nets in our club so my dad and I try to use them now just to get in the habit of doing it. My dad can still be pretty lax at it though. Personally I don't want a fish neted unless it's over four pounds. The exception is when I'm in a tourney and using trebles.
  12. I'm sorry but I don't trust a word out of that mans mouth. HE SELLS SELLS SELLS! He already mentioned in a ESPN article he choose a middle of the road Chinese blank. I'd love to see more Micro's on the market but I won't be buying anything with his name on it.
  13. Ya I gotta agree that braid with a fluro leader is the way to go IMHO. Next would be 8lb invisx or Cabelas fluro. I recently picked up a spool of braid that was 20# test with a 4lb diameter that I use as my main line and 8lb fluro as my leader and it's great. As many on here know I've made posts about spinning gear and how it's the bane of my existence. Now with this set up and a new American Rod Smiths team series rod most of my problems have all gone away.
  14. Ok well I talked to my Pops and he still want to go to Pickwick also. Our club goes to KY Lake each year we can skip it this year and finally go catch some smallies for the first time! So RW my dad and I confirm again our reservation. BTW I just got back from the boat repair shop its going to be over 400$ for some crap I can't remember that is screwing up high RPG stuff. Oh well at least I talked the guy down 300$ when I bought the boat a few weeks ago. I'd also like to try and get a boat passenger count going. It would help with getting people to stay or still join the trip. So I'll try to start one just add your name for the list you belong to. This is just a un official thing and feel free to add status like (trying to come) ect. Just high light the list with your mouse right click and click copy and then past it in your post and add you name to the list you belong to. Lets try to keep this thing going and have a good time! Pickwick Bringing boat Simp Bringing Beer aka Non Boater Simp's Dad
  15. Exactly RW!! I wanted to clarify and make sure what your plans was as well. Right now I'm a little dumb founded over the whole thing. I really didn't expect this at all to happen. I'm glad to hear Steve will be there though. Give me literally a day or two and I'll get back to you to once again to confirm or possibly pull out. I really don't want to leave you hanging and I apologize that I'm even having to consider it.
  16. I have the 6'6 glass version and love it for anything with trebles. However for your application you may want the 7ft glass version instead.
  17. It's not over the counter. We had to ship a rod back because the reel seat broke. We had to pay shipping cost to them but they took take of the return ship and gave is a new rod.
  18. Ah crap this is a total bummer man. I was seriously looking forward to this trip. I've been fighting a maze of politics at work trying to make sure I get the time off like I requested. RW and Long Mike what are your plans now? I just got a new boat, but I haven't got the motor ironed (I think it's a carb issue) out yet. As long as it's fixed I could bring it. I don't want to leave anybody hanging with ya all, but I'd also like to see just how many of us are going to make it still. My club had a Roadtrip planned at Paris Landing on KY Lake that weekend. I was going to skip it so I could request the time off for our trip. Now I'm just all bummed and confused. :'( :'(
  19. OMG YES YES YES!!!!!!! And again YESSSSSSS! Finally they get a deal done. This whole deal had me very upset. Now I get FLW and all the other programming I like on VS back in HD!!!
  20. I just wanted to give a shout out to this line. I've been a fan of Seagur for a while now and like InisX allot. The problem has always been the fairly high price tag most Fluro's carry. Then last year I heard Seagur makes the Cabela's line. I tried some 6# on a spinning reel and liked it. Then a few weeks ago I ordered some 8# and 20# for my bait casters. After several outings I have to say I'm extremely impressed so far. It has low memory, but at the same time has allot less stretch then InisX. All in IMHO it's the best fluro I've used so far and I've tried allot. You also can't beat their price on the 400 yard spools as well. So pick some up I think you will be impressed.
  21. Hey mike make sure to post a review when you've found some time. The whole ipilot intrigues me.
  22. hard to believe fluoro could do that : I hear ya but I only strung up fluro on that set up. Braid never touched that rod. This happened from holding my jig in my left hand a pitching my bait. I honestly love my Carrot it's light and very sensitive, but they should have used better guides.
  23. Personally I can't wait. I'm hoping my new boat will be ready to go (I'm sure it will). I'm bringing my pops as well for some small mouth action. I've even reserved a couple small mouth guides one named RW and the other Jimzee to make sure I land some while on the trip.
  24. No doubt about that. All rod lines have a certain amount of breakage. Angers should know there rods and so should manufacturers. Manufacturers should keep a close eye on breakage rates. Unfortunately lines are usually discontinued after a year rather then a recall or extra warranty offered. With all that said all of us on here should know or learn that the lighter and higher the modulus of the rod general means the higher the risk of breakage issue.
