I was supposed to go turkey hunting today. All the gear was packed up and ready to go, sitting right by the door, everything in order. My dad walks in, his first words are "son, it's too nasty to go today, let's go next saturday when the weather is better."
Sure it's nasty, but the rain moved out last night. My dad used to take me fishing all the time, and go hunting every time he got off from work. He would stay up with me and watch a baseball game at 2 o'clock in the morning. But he doesn't hardly do anything anymore. I've got older parents than most kids my age. My mom is 55 and my dad is 52.
I can't wait till I'm 16, so I can drive down to the pond, or up to the woods. But that won't ever replace my dad. I guess I just miss him.
(p.s. : all the old guys here, don't tell me "son, don't rush your childhood away..." Trust me, i've already heard it.
