  1. I use ball bearing locking snap swivels. Don't forget to retie often. Change the snap swivels often too. As our catch increases so does the wear and tear on our equipment too.
  2. I found more places to fish on my motorcycle while cruising back country roads.
  3. The 10lb+++ bass are in ever state I believe. Who's restocking the supply of fry? It's these big gals. Fish 24/7, fish harder.

    A Revolver?????

I like the s&w m58/4" barrel in 41mag too. You didn't say you want a zombie gun.
  5. I use Excalibur Silver Thread Copolymer line way less memory. I use from 6lb, to 8lb to 10lb on my med spin setups.
  6. Rebel crawfish cranks Mister twister mini craws, mini shad cranks. Online spinners. Small panther Martin. Joesfly. Mepps Phebe spoon. Wooden white color, silver blade spinner. Joesfly black gnat bass size.
  7. Culprit 10"/12" worm curly tail , shad or black shad, or red shad. I put it on a weighted jig head. Then reel it in slow. Adding a work rattle plus a shot of bass scent too. inline spinners can be very productive too like a Mepps Anglia, Joesfly bass size, strike king, panther Martin. Reel it just fast enough to spin the blades. Culprit worms are tough to find, www.brannansbass.com
  8. It was about 5/5:30 am at twilite. The sky was just starting to light up, still dusk. The time of morning makes me think of Louie Armstrong's what a wonderful world. I was at a man made dam on a larger lake. There is a road at the first man made drop off. Before the large dam. The shoreline drops off. The weeds were submerged. I made a long cast parallel two feet from shore. I reeled in the bait slowly the ripped it out of the deadline into the channel then the big gal hit it. As I brought her to the shoreline in the channel I was in shock I never seen a bass this large. What a big bass. My scale read 10 lbs. Rod Shakespeare 6' med. Reel Wal-Mart quantum Line 8lb Excalibur Silver Thread Copolymer. Lure, rebel BIGCLAW CRAWFISH dives 10' in green/chartruece. I was happy catching drinks to 6lbers. I was happy with smaller bass. I feel this big bass has cursed me. Now I know the new state record is within reach. But I don't want to report where I caught it and see the place hammered. Ill just report it here but won't I'd the place
  9. I never went looking for big bass they found me. I was content catching bass from drinks to 3 / 4lbers. Then the 6lber and the 10lber +over and bigger showed up. I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd catch a 10lber. I lost bigger bass and seen them swim by me like ghosts appear on the drop off. It's not easy landing big bass from shore. Too many obstacles they can get us hung up on. I lose my topnocker and the fish.
  10. Any floating CRANKBAIT can be used topwater. In a 1-2-3 pause presentation. Over submerged weeds too. Spooks, spooks with props, top props, floating worms, inline spinners, spinnerbaits, Joesflys. Shop tag sales, flea markets, look for lures.
  11. It's gunning and running. Plus they have there many fish finders on too. There searching but marking there GPS. There probably picking up a bass here and there. Search bait? Spinnerbaits.
  12. I was fishing from shore 7 days a week from dark till dawn. Around 3 to 3 1/2 months I got burned out. (Thats everyday) I used every bait and presentation I learned here and on tv. I was here at the beginning of this site. I owe a lot to Glenn here. Some stuff was trial and error too. One main thing is to use polarized glasses. Never go fishing without them. Watch behind your lure for short strikes. This will tell us to slow it down on the next cast. Or change colors or add a scent. I fished so heavy and spent so much time fishing in my heart I'm as serious as a pro. You just need to block everything out in your mind. Stay focused, remain motivated. Don't let the strikes and miss upset you stay fishing. Your looking for a pattern. Once the fish tell you what they want hang in there to see if it's productive or not. If not change colors. The right color could load the boat. Presentations,, I like slow presentations first to see what mood the bass are in. Vary your presentation till you get action. Don't limit yourself on what you can throw. I use ten lures that I know work. If no action the two 9606 tackle boxes open up and I enter my own zone. Don't get hung up on lure colors. Stay flexible. Firetiger can be your friend. I believe we can have different water conditions in the water column. Like a layer cake. Don't rush to fish take your time. Don't rush your presentations. Remember crankbaits, topwater baits, inline spinners, spinnerbaits, plastics, c rigs, senkos, worms, creature baits, jigs/pig all this stuff works. We just need to figure out what time of day to use it. Shore fishing. Early am like 4am in the dark the bass can be two feet from shore. They don't move to deeper water haunts yet. The place comes to life as the sky starts to light up its twilite. Remember to fish stealthy no noise like your not there very very quiet. Your tackle box needs everything in its place so you can find it in the dark. Fishing Rocky points. I fish them from different directions. I skip fan cast them. I never put two casts near each other. I make a longer cast then bring it slowly to the point. Fish across the point from different angles. Fish up and down the point. Remember stealth. In nine feet of water along side weed edges I throw my baits that run ten feet. I let the bait bounce off the bottom.(cranks) with spinnerbaits I yo-yo them. A split shot worm or a c-rig with plastics works well. I repeat this sometimes because on a tough day we hit brain fade too. Its time to change tactics (baits). It's skill that catches fish not luck, luck is for the casino. I'm not a pro nor claim to be I'm just serious about fishing. Bigbill
  13. Me and my son were fishing from shore locally when a family walked by and the son started throwing rocks in the water near us. We left rather than argue. I live in a rural area.
  14. Exactly your spool adjustment maybe too tight. I have some older baitcaster reels that have a pitching switch. We're going back decades. I have no clue how the switch works.
  15. Not all the colors work all the time. The bass eyes aren't like ours. There influenced by the water conditions, the light conditions and the vegetation causes the hues in the water clarity. So Dr Loren hill proved this in his ten years of testing and development of the color c lector and the combo c lector at OK UNV. I've seen what color works today change on daily basis.
  16. I have the BIGCLAW CRAWFISH and bps topnocker in every tackle box. In case I lose one the day is saved.
  17. I have learned about bass fishing from Glenn here on this site and watching Bill Dance and Hank Parker tv shows. I applied everything on the water fishing. Listen to the bass they will tell you what they want too. My first encounter with lures one night I was feeling in a night crawler and had a strike. I thought to myself the bass just told me they want something moving. I just purchased a Mepps bass assortment of #3 inlines. The feeding frenzy was on. After a hour of catching doubles me and my son were hooked on bass fishing. The pros contribute so much to bass fishing by giving tips. I say listen to hear what they say. But watch what they do with there hands. How they handle the rod setup and presentation. Bill Dance is the one I watch closely.
  18. Me and my son were shore fishing close to each other. No one else is around the place. This guy shows up and gets inbetween us and says excuse me I want to make one cast. I'm thinking when does my rod becomes a whopping stick. I held back but how rude. My buddy is just home from nam. He was the guy they sent into caves with a 45. A little uneasy still. This guy would give you his shirt off his back. Do anything to help you. Ok he borrowed his dad's new boat. He's anchored and fishing. This boat pulls up and bumps his dad's boat. My buddy moves. The guy follows him and bumps the boat again. My buddy moves again. The guy follows him again and my buddy lost it. He pulls his 45 and tells the jerk he's going to put one round below the water line. The guy left. This same buddy is with us all lined up in a cove shore fishing. A guy in a boat makes a pass so close to shore he cuts all our lines. My buddy picks up a rock and hits the guy in the boat. What a shot. Not all boaters are bad.
  19. Pop-R my very first successful topwater lure. Taught the boys how to use them.
  20. Bomber FAT A or Model A about 1 7/8" to 2" shallow running in redapplecraw. Slow reel it over submerged weeds, stop over the open weed pockets and twitch it. That orange bottom with the redcraw sides the bass can't resist. The crawfish are red black here.
  21. I purchased the surplus Swiss camp ponchos. I use a nam jungle hat in the rain. Fishing from shore I wear jump boots. www.Amazon.com Swiss camo poncho. Barre army navy for the military boonies hat. Unless you want to look politically correct. I price shop.
  22. I probably have new lures that are close to collectable now. I have a minnow that has a prop on his tail. When the prop turns it turns magnets inside and his side fins flutter. Brand new in the boxes. It's high tech like the laser dots. Lol
  23. Yup a orange bottom popper with a mix of chartruese on the sides with a touch of green with a knocker. I use the 1-2-3 twitch then pause. This topwater presentation must be done equally every time. The 1-2-3 pause must be a Oscar winning presentation not a golden globe but an Oscar winning presentation. Even when you use a slow steady reel presentation watch closely how you crank the handle on the reel. You need a even circle for a even lure speed. If your making a egg shaped movement of your hand on the crank listen to your lure churning fast then slow. Your lure needs a slow even speed. These are tops for success. The fish see our mistakes. Perfection is the key.
  24. Mepps Anglia, silver blade grey tail #3 Mepps Anglia, gold blade brown tail #3 Mepps timber doodle size 0 silver blade white 4" split double tail. Joesfly 1/4 ounce bass size firetiger apache. Joesfly 1/4ounce bass size black gnat. Joesfly 1/4 oz bass size mellow yellow.
  25. I probably have a ton of new lures I never used half of that is plastics of all kinds. Due to working my time was limited. I'd get home at around 9:30 from fishing take a shower, sleep, shower and off to work. Weekends early mornings, and late evenings. Then I retired and fishing 24/7. I was always using what I knew worked but often tried new stuff. The Orange spook sat in my tackle box for years. One day I tried it and the bass loved it.
