  1. Since the word is that the Norman lure company was sold or closed up I put in two orders for the Norman thin N Crankbaits. I have a pretty good stash already but the kids will have plenty. with the Norman thin N in killer Chartruese try it at dusk. Use a dead stick presentation. Leave it in one spot and twitch it. Make it irratic in one spot. after bps discontinued the hottest topwater lure of all time the bps/xps topnocker and I was devistated I stock up on every lure I find that works. Only the hottest ones.
  2. In November during the snow flurries I was tossing a YUM MONEY MINNOW SWIMBAIT. In pearl 6". That's my favorite November bait. Snow optional.
  3. I notice a difference between the Manns Crankbaits. One out of four caught bass. I had to tune the other three. So far all the bomber model A's catch fish. Now I check all of my cranks for running true.
  4. Don't dwell when we lose a big bass, suck it up and learn from it. The next day schedule a tow truck to land it. Stay calm, fish on like it never happened. Lmao
  5. In one pond with the surface vegetation and algae I put my biggest treble hook lure on and spend the trip clearing a three foot wide path through the vegetation. I call it shotgun alley. Now I can fish that one path. It's one of those smaller places to fish.
  6. Sorry I understand what spooling means now. I always add new line on my reels when the capacity gets low. I never hit the backing.
  7. The trick in shore fishing is being able to make longer casts. It can be pro vs con sometimes. I've had record breaking bass on long casts and lost them. But I put out a scent trail on my first cast with my Topnocker. (Bait mate bass scent) I cast it between the open channel and the submerged weed line. The current is moving away from me which is a plus. Was using a 20 sized reel with 6lb test, a 25 sized reel with 8lb test, a 30 sized reel with 10lb test, a 40 sized reel with 12lb test.(spinning reels). I purchased the US REEL super spinning reels with the larger spool diameters but I been ill so I haven't been out with them that much. But what little I did use them they cast a few more yards with them. When the Lilly pads are near the shoreline a few extra yards could mean success. When sight fishing with action going on in the weeds. The only line I use is Excaliber Silver Thread copolymer line. I find it very flexible and very low memory. It also has less stretch. i have upgraded to inshore/light saltwater tackle too for larger baits. I feel like a fool but it works.
  8. If I say anything wrong tell me.
  9. Nature does control the fish population. I have heard from the ice fishermen about them seeing the ice over full of bass. We finally have a slot limit in ct. We need to remove some of the smaller bass and leave the bigger bass to breed. I'm not fond of removing bass.
  10. I have the older Color C Lector which chooses color only and the Combo C Lector which reads out the PH, water temp and selects the color to use at that time. My question is does anyone use the newer high tech color c lector?
  11. Jig n pig. I'm old school, watermelon color with a pork trailer. Skip fan cast the whole area.
  12. Got meat? Maggots? Growing live bait in your tackle box? A #12 snelled hook with a rattle bobber. You won't go hungry. I wash my lures and tackle boxes at the end of every season. I remove foul oders. Sometimes mid season I wash them. Since I haven't fished in almost two years now ill look for meat in my plastics. Good in burgers, they add a crunch like crispy cheetos. Lmao I haven't used live bait in about 25 years now.
  13. I have most of them in different colors. The spook with the prop works good. Again it's my 1-2-3 rip n pause presentation. A nice even rip three times then pause. If no action fish it slower with a longer pause. I picked up a discounted producers orange colored spook. It's hot here.
  14. I don't catch that many smallest but on over cast rainy days. Joesfly 1/4oz bass size, firetiger apache. Joesfly 1/4oz bass size, glo tiger. Spinnerbait, Indiana gold blades, Hot chartruese skirt, chartruese split double tail grub. Mepps #3 Anglia gold blade, Brown dressed. Mepps #3 Anglia silver blade, grey dressed.
  15. I got buzzed overhead by a loone. The swoosh from its wings. Had a 48" long beaver come close and slap his tale in front of me often. Had a b52 bomber buzz me while hunting on top of a mountain in vt. I could count the rivets. That's a big Bird. That's our nation's freedom.
  16. Here the crawls have black backs with red sides the claws are two tone red n black. In our bigger rivers the a tan color. Something weird I've seen is like two hundred or more empty shells in the shallows in the river. I have no clue what ate them. Ok I'm not sure about the life cycle of crawfish. Rebel offers there crawfish crankbaits in different colors. The hottest color for me is the chartruese color, bright red color.
  17. My future DIL asked Santa already for a big tackle box full of lures. Santa usually gives a box of Avon stuff but she wants fishing stuff. I think that's awesome. Santa did give new spinning rod setups one year. Everybody fished in the family. Santa keeps them fishing. He must read here too he knows a lot about fishing.
  18. If I'm fishing in the Rocky area my treble hooks are checked for being rounded over points. I've learned when I started seeing circle pc's on my trebles. From that point on I have a "check the hook sharpness awareness" constantly. Like Glenn says even new hooks can be dull. Sometimes missed hooksets can be attributed to dull hooks. Don't take for granted that your hooks are sharp. In the winter time I go through all my baits to sharpen the hooks when I empty my tackle box to wash my baits and tackle box from foul oders that can occur from using scents. I'm a clean freak, plus a neat freak. Fishing at night in the dark with no moon has turned me into a neat freak. The very first time fishing in the dark in the wilds did this to me. I use a one AA battery flash lite. And keep it low to the tackle box so there's no glare. You got a few answers for one post.
  19. I'm hooked on custom paint colors on Crankbaits done by River Rat he's on facebook. I finally found someone who can repaint my lures with a new custom paint job. I been searching for someone who does this. My new baby duck lures finally arrived from dicks sporting goods too.
  20. Some will fish darker colored baits. I fish the brightest colored baits. Spinnerbaits, HOT Chartruese. I believe the hotter colors liven up the party. If it's still light out and your fishing in the shade go brighter color wise.
  21. Years ago I would go for rides on the dual sport motorcycle looking for new places to fish. I hit the bass mother load at a few places. Some were unfished. I saved money on gas by driving the bike. On my street bike I kept a telescopic rod/reel with lures under the seat. Always ready for the urge to strike. I miss those bikes today.
  22. Guess what's for dinner? You need a few of his cousins.
  23. I would fish early mornings or high noon or in the evenings till dark. Baits, 1. Rapala original floater f7 blue or black. 2. Mepps Anglia #3 silver blade grey tail 3. Bomber Model A 05 in redapplecraw. Don't forget the bass scent.
  24. I would switch to EXCALIBUR SILVER THREAD COPOLYMER LINE. Years ago when they did a abrasion test they were way ahead of the other brands. I would use 8lb clear Excalibur.
