Line twist. Look it up here there’s two different ways to spool your reels. One way is baitcaster reels the other way is for spinning reels. u been using ball bearing locking snap swivels for many decades. You need to change then often they do wear. With spinnerbaits, cranks, topwater ect anywhere they see more action they wear. Even with the barrel swivels I change them out more often.

I started out trying the Norman thin N’s. Awesome crank just get jiggly with it topwater at dusk as it floats, shake it. We were fishing a new unfished place. Using the thin n in hot chartreuse shaking it a lmb hit it and got away. My fault. I notice the fish will slap it silly then make a u turn and inhale it. When they slap it freeze. The Norman fat boys are good too. I have every color.

I waited decades to try senko type baits. I found out one bait per fish, now I tried different clones of senko. Luckily they lasted longer. If the bite was frenzy on even the short broken 2”/3” pieces worked. im worried about these toxic glues with fish. Do they offer a safe glue for thevfish too?

The orginal crime 6” blackworm. Rigged with a large sewing needle starting from the lump to the nose with a #4 smelled hook. Remove the needle once the line is out, add a splitshot. Cast it out, let it sit, move it 4”, let it sit, repeat till the next cast. It’s slow fishing but very productive. If you in a boat move the boat till the weeds are gone from shore. Cast into the weeds. If fishing from shore try to cast parallel to shore. my second choice is the culprit 10/12” worms weighted with a jig head.

I fish from shore. My hottest spinnerbaits trailer has been the mister twister 4” split double tail grub. It’s the same trailer that’s used on the mepps timber doodle. Watch behind your baits for short strikes and adjust your line speed.

This happened a few years ago. It was during the warm light rain. I’m fishing from shore at one of my hot spots. I’m throwing a joes fly in 1/4oz bass size in firetiger apache. I caught 19 bass standing in one spot. I decided it was time to leave. On the way home I stopped at a second spot to try a couple of casts. Well I never seen smallies in this place never. I caught two small mouth bass 3lbers and one 3lb lmb right away on three casts. Do smallies hide on blue bird days then come out on overcast days? The whole year fishing there I only see lmb. Since I was fishing in the open channel with weedlines on both sides should I be fishing in the weeds more than the open channel?

I like the spook with a one twitch, two twitch, three twitch then pause. This presentation is a killer with any topwater baits. The mister twister top prop with this presentation on the pause it almost goes verticle. Using a mister twister 4” split double tail grub really attracts the strikes.

I’ve seen Walmart put baits on clearance only to restock it with the spring baits, weird....mr twister top prop rocks.

My bigger bass have been caught up against the shoreline in the twilight early mornings from shore. Must be very stealthy. QUIET

Still on this side of the green. Seven years ago I went with radiation and with seeds what ever that is. I recently found out I have kidney problems, one is operating at 90% the other one seems dead there not sure. It’s full of stones. My bladder isn’t releasing all my water. Seems the radiation burned it while killing the cancer. There going to inject Botox in my bladder to fix it. I asked will I look 20 years younger? Lol my point is get your prostates checked often. Post prostate cancer get your kidney and bladder functions checked.

In the beginning when I started bass fishing we used live minnows at the cost of $50 a week with night crawlers. I started using two rod setups one livebait and one tossing lures. I almost lost the baited rod a few times. Finally I got good with lures and started out fishing the livebait rod. Then I spent $50 on new bass lures. I do stop fishing and help show kids kids how to fish. I fish from shore. I fish the smaller bodies of water.

I see or read winter bass fishing. Brothers and sisters here we have the ice on already. It’s early and not thick yet. No winter bass fishing yet.

We have a Blackbear problem now. I was getting in the car when a 150lb Bear was ten feet from me. I got out of the car raised my arms and screamed at the bear because the wife wasn’t in the car yet. We spotted him all summer. My dog goes crazy when this bear is nearby. One time he was on my front porch looking in the picture window nose to nose with my barking dog. Not good.

I been throwing the split shot rig from the early 70’s. Creme 6” black worms. but using a weighted head, a worm rattle, a culprit 10” or 12” black Shad worm surely can change your success. Sorry for being old school.

How long do you fish with these higher speed reels. I tried one once it wore me out.

My c rig setup from shore is a 24” leader with a Carolina adjustable leader with a 1/8oz weight, locking snap swivel at the hook. i buy what ever weedless hooks are on sale. One size hook doesn’t fit all the different senko type baits. I like to go one weedless hook size larger. Finding larger weedless hooks for bps larger 7 1/4” Stik o worms is tough. if your not sure you had a strike the weed guard will be closed or open indicating a strike or not. If you missed a strike and the guard is open one shot of scent on the next cast will land it.

Betcha they still catch fish. I have some silly looking lures from the 70’s one has a assortment of different colored fins. This was when colors were solid and not attractive.

I use the eagle claw weedless hooks or something similar.

With all my bears lately I’m packing the Redhawk in 41 magnum. More penetration over the 44 mag.

Pulled in the birdfeeders. The cub dragged a bag of sunflower seeds to the building lot I have, bit it open and rolled in it today then dragged what was left to his den. A doe and her fawn showed up to eat the left overs. It’s time to get a bushel of apples and make friends with the cub.

I’m up to 17 tackle boxes stuffed, those big green 12 spinnerbait boxes stuffed as backup, I have cardboard boxes stuffed as backup to backup. to take fishing I have four 9606 tackle boxes, topwater, crankbaits, plastics, weedles, spinnerbaits. i fish from shore being disabled near the car for easy access. my point is we can never have enough tackle or storage space to store it. Plus I’m a color freak too after reading Dr Loren hills study on colors the bass can see at certain times.

I was fishing everyday from springtime till I get burned out three months down the road. Not my fingers it’s my lower back ever since I went to longer rods and try to make record long casts. I have three lower bulging discs, spinol stenosis, ect.

These places are my best spots, crankbaits, mepps in-line spinners #3, joes fly 1/4oz bass size firetiger apache, panther martin spin fly orange/ silver #6. Cast parallel to shore where you can. Work the edge of the shade. i fish a shallow swamp like this with 32” chain pickerel and lots of smaller bass. Got told to leave before I could poke the bigger hogs. I was legal fishing from the road but the warden won’t back me up I’m disabled.

It’s silly with any tv show or video watch how they present the bait. Watch how they work the rod n reel. Last I listen to what they say. Then I go out and mimic then with that bait. Like these guys or not these baits work.
