With subway where’s the meat? Doesn’t look like the sammich on tv? for fishing I make my own grinders, the fish on a slow day like cheese and salami too. I like mayo on the bread, olive oil, Regina red wine vinegar the cheese and meat, tomato, lettuce olives, what ever.

Know the depths, the bottom structure, look for the flats, the points. Do you use a scent? I wash my hands and touch nothing but my baits. I don’t make any noise it spooks the fish.

I have one Bruin that appears to be 500#. No open season yet. That’s a big bear. they raid all my fruit trees that’s ok I planted them for the wildlife. i had a cub come at me about 12’ away when I raised my arms and screamed

Beaware of the Blackbears in ct fishing at night and early mornings. The population is on the rise. I have resident local Blackbears, two males and a sow with cubs. There’s been reports all over ct. becareful.

I spilt my garlic scent on my hatch back in the dark a bear was at my car. All I had was a 6’6” whipping stick. He left and I was ok.

Let’s average that out numbers wise. Five thousand caught, let’s say 2,500 were female, that’s ten eggs per female that’s 25,000 they won’t have to kill. I hate snakes.

A 4’ diameter snapping turtle. My son said it’s a log as it raised its human sized head that we first thought was a limb.

Mister Twister once made plastic dragun flies they were awesome. I dropped them split shot rigged into the weeds and work it up like a hatching dragun fly. Worked great. you could make your own using a #6 long hook with a foam body with elastic bands going through it. Paint the body purple or blue. Just let it float on top. kittery trading post in kittery Maine has dragonflies for fly fishing they come in two sizes. I called them once and ordered more.

I wacky rig the senko with a c rig and a 24” leader with a brass clicker. As the bait falls I keep the line snug and watch the rod tip for the slightest nibble. Once the tip moves set the hook. if nothing happens on the slow fall, i then get jiggy with the rod tip as it falls letting the brass clicker do its thing. i put a 1/8 oz brass weight, a brass ball, then a brass clicker with it, between the plastic beads.

For you youngsters don’t get hung up on one bait, one color and one presentation, just switch baits and try different presentations, colors too. what you learn at your favorite fishing hole applies to any new place you fish.

I use crawfish scent on crawfish crankbaits. i use a baitmate bass scent regularly on topwater baits. i use my garlic scent as my change up pitch is nothing’s happening. i had baitmate worm crawler scent but I don’t see it anymore.

The bass are sensitive to noise. The big double digit bass are near the shoreline feeding in the dark and low light conditions. To walk up near the shoreline we must be stealthy how we walk and fish. No noise. Very quiet.

I was spending about $50 on livebait, mostly minnows. One night I tossed a 12” culprit worm black Shad with a glass rattle in the head. I was reeling it in and caught a 13” chain pickerel. Being alert to what’s going on that fish told me they wanted something moving. I put on a mepps #3 inline spinner and tossed one to my son we caught doubles till it got dark. i saved my money on livebait and got crankbaits, spinnerbaits, topwater, shallow running baits. I read everything here and bought fishing videos from the pros too. My health put the brakes on me fishing. i been here since the beginning of this site, Glenn and the guys here give good tips listen to what they say and how they work the rod. my tip, don’t get hung up using one brand or flavor of scent. If nothing is happening with one scent my go to scent is garlic if the bass attractant isn’t working.

If my son was with me and that happened he’d go swimming for sure. He cracks us up he shimmied out on a tree limb to save a stick lure and rolled off the branch into the water he went. the three of us had a panfish tournament there was bobbers stuck in trees everyone was casting over everyone. I was on the ground laughing it was better than bill dance bloopers.

I have the old 22’s some from the 1800’s single shots but never hunted tree rats, I see like 7 of them at my bird feeder and thinking about grilling a few. I never ate them. Those new c02 pellet rifles look interesting?

When you see clearances and sales that’s the time to buy and stock up. many times as a kid I saved my lunch money on fishing stuff. In the past with sales, the money I save I’m above the dollar menu at mickeys.

Learn and practice different presentations with each bait the fish will let you know when you get it right. It’s not luck in fishing it’s skill.

For lighter smaller baits I use a 5’5” spinning rod, with 6lb test, I also use a 6’ spinner rod for larger baits, I use 8lb test. my Pb of 10# was landed on 8# test. I prayed line don’t fail me now. The Excalibur silver thread line never failed me yet.

Joes flys 1/4oz bass size. Blackgnat, firetiger Apache. mepps #3 in-line anglia silver grey tail. But everyone in the bass assortment pack catches fish. norman thin n hot chartreuse. bomber cranks red, brown, green, size 05 rebel pop r blue white spinnerbait gold Indiana blade 3/16 oz to 1/4oz with a mister twister 4” split double tail trailer in white. The blue glimmer skirt seems to work better than white. chartruese spinnerbait gold Indiana blade, 3/16 to 1/4 oz. with a mister twister split double tail trailer in Chartruese. The hot chartruese skirt seems to work better. senko, amber red, red flake, Carolina 1/8 oz rig, 24” leader. black 6” rubber worm split shot rigged. Move it slow then pause watch your line for movement. try different presentations do not reel too fast. Anyone of these baits can be used at any depth by adjusting your line speed. I like brighter colors at dusk as the sun goes down and twilight as the night turns to day.

The vaccumne should do it, when the misses turns it on my dog and six cats scatter.

Grandpa here makes a killer p&j sammiches. I spread a thin coat of peanut butter (to your liking) on both halves of the bread. Then it’s smuckers grape jelly in the middle thick. For a change up I use pineapple jam again thicker. now when the fresh tomatoes come in vine ripen it’s pumpernickle bread with mayo and sliced tomatoes. I grew up on this.
