  1. I'm going to be there for 2 weeks. I will be doing many things in and around Yosemite. Bass lake was recommended to me by one of the top fishermen in Ca. I like bass so I'll give it a shot.
  2. Does anyone know a reputable guide for Bass Lake near Yosemite? I will be there in a couple of weeks and I would like to give it a shot. Thank you for any input.
  3. Has anyone used these for punching etc? I would like to hear how the experiences have been with these. Below is a link that has both items listed in case anyone is interested. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-TUNGSTNWTS.html?from=basres
  4. Thank you Lou. I'll give it a shot.
  5. That is a great technique but it won't work in this case. In this case the hooks are already out of the frog so there is no line to act as a guide. Tips on how to get something through the hollow body is what I need.
  6. I unfortunately had a few frogs end up with rusty hooks. The bodies of the frogs are fine but the hooks had to go of course. I would like some advice on how to get the new hooks into the frog bodies without tearing up the frogs. Thank you for any help.
  7. Jimmy Mason is a good pickwick guide that a friend of mine has used multiple times. I grew up fishing pickwick so I've never used a guide there, but the reports on Jimmy were good. Great lake. Have fun! Tell your buddy thank you for his service.
  8. What portion (generally, you don't have to be specific) were you fishing?
  9. 5 1/2 is probably the ceiling.
  10. Well we moved to Covington, La in July. I have been extremely busy with the move and my new job. If anyone has any info about clubs in the area I would like to know about them. Also any information on fishing the area would be greatly appreciated. I hope to get out a time or two in the next few months and contribute to the thread.
  11. So many great photos everyone. Great to see all of those quality smallies! my PB is a 7 lb 8 oz caught on Pickwick in Dec of 1997 when I was 18 yo. My partner and I caught 6 smallmouth and 3 largemouth (only had 10 confirmed bass bites all day) that day. The total weight was over 50 lbs for the 9. Great day in the Big Eddy! Sadly no camera was in the boat and camera phones didn't exist that I knew of. Her image is burned into my brain though. Even if I get alzheimers her image will be one of the last things to leave. I was so nervous while fighting her I almost threw up (seriously).
  12. I am very interested in seeing contributions to this thread. I am very likely moving to the area and can't find a great deal of information on bass fishing the area. The consensus is that it is average at best in the southeastern part of the state. Especially north of Lake P. I hope this thread thrives and I hope the fishing is better than advertised.
  13. The silver blue gill and winter craw are awesome! My daughter (4yo and already catching bass all by herself) would love that flourescent pink craw.
  14. Wow! Really great stuff. Did you make the lure bodies also? What material if so? Thanks
  15. What is the trade in thing going on???
  16. You are free to do whatever you want, but you are overthinking it. Jigs no doubt are the play here. Versatile, big numbers, big fish.
  17. What sharpener do most of you guys use for your jigs, spinnerbaits etc? Do any of you not sharpen your jig hooks and toss it when the hook dulls? Thanks
  18. For any of you that are familiar with the area or in a club. At what sites do you have your tournaments? Is it all focused on the delta or are there more places within a decent distance? I am not very familiar with the area and I may be relocating there. A list of a tournament schedule or link to any club websites would be greatly appreciated. I googled bass clubs for the area and came up with very little. Thank you in advance.
  19. I might be moving to Mandeville/ Slidell La area. What is the bass fishing like on the Pearl and any other places for bass fishing in the area? Thanks in advance!
  20. Awesome. Thanks everybody. Is the Tchefunte (sp?) a fishable river by boat? It seems like it gets small quickly on the maps. Also is the fishing any good?
  21. It takes a lot of know how to go along with that confidence to be successful. I know some people that are very confident but don't actually know squat. LOL!
  22. He is fishing in exactly the same place as some very very good anglers and beating the pants off of them. Unreal.
