  1. Congrats on the first win... Remember, the first million is the toughest to make then it's all down hill from there ;D At least thats what I was told.
  2. Our club takes off .50 pound. Also most laws say you cannot cull a dead fish. I've seen people throw dead fish back in the water which is not allowed in any of the states I fish in. If one dies in the live well which can happen in night tournaments when it's smokin hot the people should just take the hit and try to keep it from happening again.
  3. Palmer Lake in Colon MI. This is how it all unfolded....... Well we stayed dry all night which was a suprise. Not a bad night over all except we got taken to school hard. I thought we were doing good with 5 fish weighing over 9 pounds and a big bass of 4.23.... I was wrong. When we came in at 7 am that next morning I was amazed to find that someone had a 20 lb bag and obviously a 5 plus big bass. Thats just not usual on that lake. There is some big ones in there but Who'da thunk it???? The weigh in went from 20.84 for 1 st then 12.81 for second and down from there. Just not my year I guess. Oh well, life is a garden, you gotta dig it. Off to St Clair in 2 weeks, hope we can make a come back... Hope you all did well and stayed safe. Later, Snag
  4. Well we are starting our first of 3 night tournaments tonight at Palmer Lake. Sounds like it's gonna be a wet one with storms tonight. The lake has some really nice fish in it and if it's not pouring I will try to get some good pics. On the water from 9 pm to 7 am I hope the rain holds off but I don't think it's gonna happen... Later all, Snag
  5. No "small" river fishing here but we fish Detroit River and St Clair River a couple, 3 times a year. Tubes tubes and more tubes, spinner baits and some top water in the right conditions. Good luck Snag
  6. Usually we fish the rivers off the lakes this time of year. Detroit River and St Clair River but I would say you should find them in 15 - 20 ft on the lake. We're going to St Clair July 31 for our 2 day on the 2 nd and 3 rd of August. Good luck, Snag
  7. Normally on regular lakes I use 8 lb test on spinning gear but when we fish Detroit River, Lake Erie and St Clair River I use 20 or 40 lb Super Braid since we are usually drifting bumping bottom. I like the braid more when drifting because there is so many rocks and other things to get hung up on down there.
  8. Welcome!!!!! You will find all you need right here on this site to become a great fisherman. Read the articals and the info from all the anglers. It's a great place
  9. Welcome to the site and welcome back to bass fishing
  10. Great site. I hope everyone sends them a BIG thank you for what they are doing over there. Those guys and gals face more in a day than most of us do in a life time. I hope God brings them all home safe. It's nice there is an e mail link on there so we can keep in touch. Thanks Glenn for letting it on here. Snag
  11. Another GREAT tournament on Detroit River. I really wanted to have some pictures for all of you but it started to pour during the weigh in. Flat Rock and Wing Dam really panned out again. The wind could have been from a different direction but hey, it was a good day. Fish were caught and everyone came home safe. 17 pounds plus won it. Good smallies and some really good large mouth. Hope everyone else had good days.... Tight lines all, Snag

  13. I wouldn't think so. I was using bigger tubes and Fat Ikeas Saturday (june 20) on Detroit River. We ripped them up
  14. Way to go Glen, thats a keeper. Welcome Merc, your motors are great!! Snag
  15. I have caught fish on the same baits at night as I do during the day. The club I fish in fish 3 night tournaments and 6 day tournaments so we have done alot of night fishing. My favorite bait for day or night is a Venom Salty Sling (like a senko).Watermellon/Candy or Green Pumpkin Candy. If there is little or no wind I fish it weightless if there is wind I use a split shot or worm weight. Just my 2 cents, hope it helps. Later, Snag
  16. Jus things to make you go hummmmm? 8-)
  17. I've got 2 pair of Bolle and I love them. I think they were about $ 120 a piece but they protect your eyes and work well in the water. Only problem is they don't float, thats why I have 2 pair now. My first pair took the plunge and I didn't have another pair that day. That sucked. You do get what you pay for and you want to make sure your peepers are protected. Good luck, Snag
  18. St. Claire is a great place for smallies. We hold 2 day tourneys up there and I love it. The drive sucks but the fishin is GREAT!!!! Lots of hogs in that water. Who says pigs can't swim........
  19. Don't leave home without mine. Snag
  20. What a story that was. My livewell re circulates water and also pumps in fresh water with fresh oxygen. I'm sure there may be some "poo and pee" in it also but I can't help what is in the lake already. As far as cooking and "fish soup", when it's hot we add ice from the cooler everynow and then to keep the water cool. That along with "catch and release" I have not killed a fish in 8 + years. Never have I had a fish die while in my livewell. Our club hands out catch and release every year for all members so everyone uses it. Also, when we are on Detroit River and St. Clair River, if Mr or Mrs Bass get the "bends" due to comming up from deeper water, I am there with my trusty syringe to de compress them, always using clean, a septic measures. We do everything we can to protect our fish and I can count on one hand how many have not made it club wide. I would say we do a pretty good job at taking care of our fish and I'm sure alot of other clubs do the same too..... Snag
  21. If the fans can see it from there they shouldn't be hiding it... ;D
  22. If you are calling these so called "wildlife/dnr" people and they tell you or act like they don't care or maybe they are to busy I would try to find a higher level of DNR people. Sounds like they are not doing their job to preserve fish and wildlife. Everyone has a boss, find that person and make some noise. Squeaky hinge gets the oil. Rattle some cages and kick some cans. Good luck, Snag
  23. True but between $ 3.90 gas and $ 25.00 a night for camping that $ 91.00 will cut into my "campfire hydration" for the nights during our 2 day tournament.. Don't know what I'll do yet. Maybe some overtime.. Who knows. Thanks all, Snag
  24. Got my gobies in the boat along with my tubes and fat Ikas. We need to bring 5 pigs to the scales, not just one or two with a limit. Look out Detroit, we're goin HOG hunting.
  25. Did I read it wrong or is the non resident canadian fishing license $ 91.00??? HOLY CRAP !!! Do they not want us fishing there or not? Kinda puts a damper on St. Clair River, Detroit River and certian spots on Erie. As if gas prices wern't enough. I'm hoping maybe I read that wrong. Somebody tell me I did. Snag
