  1. I have been lurking around here for about a year now and figured I should just go ahead and introduce myself. I am in Abilene, Tx and started seriously fishing about a year ago. I am looking forward to getting more involved on the forums.
  2. Thanks for the ice chest tip. I will be leaving on tuesday for the lake and I will make sure to take plenty of pictures
  3. Ouch man that sounds painful We will be doing the houseboat thing as well. I have heard it is really beautiful so I am excited to go. I will look into getting a beefier setup and going after some stripers. Thanks for the advice
  4. Hey everyone, I am from Texas and will be going out on lake powell here in a month or so. I was just wondering if anyone has anyadvice on types of lures to use there. I know they have walleye and striper there and would be interested in catching some of those. I am also interested in catching some smallmouths since we dont have many of those in texas. I am currently using a medium action 6'6" castaway spinning rod with a shimano sahara 2500 spinning reel if that makes a difference. Any help would be appreciated
  5. That is rough to hear Sam, but I thank you for sharing. My grandma has been fighting melanoma for the past three years. It is a definite subject that we need to be aware of considering our passion. I hope your friend can get better, skin cancer is a nasty one.
  6. That is a pretty good idea FD, I might just have to do that. I got skunked today but there is always tomorrow
  7. Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I have really enjoyed lurking around on the site now for a couple weeks and figured it was about time to introduce myself. Well bought to go hit the lake. Lets hope for another biggie. Best Wishes Allen
  8. I went out to the lake today with a couple of buddies and we we waded out off of a point. I was burning a rat-l-trap and thought I got hung up, but I soon realized it was a huge fish. I brought her in and she measured 23 inches and a rough estimate about 7 lbs. I was sure glad I invested in a new setup after I sold my textbooks back. It more than made up for the sun burn I got today. Just thought I would share. Sorry for no pics but it is a little hard to keep a camera dry when you are out in the water.
