  1. Strike King's Perfect Skirt is pretty good. Terminators too. I use the zip tie method on any skirts that use a rubber sleeve to hold the stands together as they will eventually rot. Only drawback is you cant swap them out then. I think you can get Chatterbait skirts and Northland, which don't have the rubber sleeve, at BPS. Go to TW and search "Replacement Skirts" Plenty to choose from.
  2. Looks like they have 5+ of every size of clear offered except 15lb, which they have 4. 5+ is I believe the max they list they have in stock for anything. Could be supply and demand. 600 yds clear only $2.00 more than 275 yds. I believe most people choose clear anyway but could be wrong. Looks like the other color prices are listed as SALE prices.Might be moving them in anticipation of a new introduction? Personally I didn't care for the ultrasoft. Used it for cranking and it seemed to break pretty easily. I recall others having the same issue. Looks like quite a bit left on Ebay. Anyway, has anyone contacted Yo-Zuri? Go straight to the horses mouth.
  3. Go to their site, click on "Contact Us" and ask them. http://yo-zuri.com/Products/Yo-Zuri_Fishing_Line/details/Yo-Zuri_Hybrid.html Not on clearance at TW. Just got 600 yds of 15 lb. at their labor day sale. Price doesn't seem to have changed, at least not that I've noticed. Google Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Quite a few places still carry it.
  4. Beat me to it. P.S., if it's 5 inches......oh let's not go there.
  5. I use Yo-Zuri 12 lb. on my skipping outfit with no issues at all. Reel is a large spool diameter, which has alot to do with it. 10 lb. Hybrid is rated at 16.5 lb breaking strength. The stuff is tough. No memory problems at all. Use the right equipment for the right job. can't say for sure but 10lb. Sunline probably breaks at or near 10lb. Like others have said, diameter plays into it too. And KVD conditioner never hurts. Fingering the spool and stopping the line at end of cast helps also. I have gone up to 15lb hybrid on spinning gear with no issues. Gets a bait under a dock or boat pretty far and I have confidence i can get the fish out once hooked. Learn how to feather the spool and put your finger on it when cast ends. Shouldn't have any problems, except with heavier flouros. These are like springs and much less manageable on spinning gear than Hybrid IMO.
  6. Depends on 1) your skill level and 2) the weight of the lure. Shad Raps and other light baits can be pretty tough to throw on baitcasters.
  7. Raul made a good point about BPS. They had a 25% off their branded tackle sale a while back. I was wandering around and saw the Stick-O section and for grins I grabbed a pack of Green Pumpkin and lo and behold they were soft as heck. I grabbed another color and they were a bit harder as I remember them. I found another color I liked that was soft and bought a bunch of each. I'm not shy about opening a bag and taking out a bait to see it's texture, unless it is in a bag where you have to rip off the top to get at them. I have an Extreme flippin' stick that was a replacement for one that broke the first time out. it is 7 or 8 years old now and sees heavy use. Guess that can be said of most rods though. Bound to get a bad one now and then. Major names are fewer and farther between though.
  8. Glenn posted a pretty slick video with a tip I will be using. Take a piece of stout mono and after rigging the bait on an EWG hook, locate the eye and push the mono through the plastic and the hook eye. Some people swear by screw lock hooks but I find after 1 hookset, the front of the bait is destroyed. Maybe I'm setting the hook too hard, if there is such a thing. The Parasite clip mentioned works too but the mono trick is muck less costly. Also take a look at Kumho Reaper Keeper hooks and Damiki D-Hold hooks. I've used these with good success. Nothing extra needed with these. I had a Rage Shellcraker rigged on a 5/0 1/8 oz. Damiki D-Hold hook and the front of the bait never was even slightly torn even after about 15 fish. Still tied to my rod as I'm typing this. Top and back are pretty chewed up but still swims and is catching fish.

    Numbers Baits

Senko type baits, small crankbaits or chatterbaits. When I fish ponds from shore, I rarely if ever use spinnerbaits as it seems just about everyone else is using them. Senko style baits never fail.
  10. Which distinct Yo-Zuri line is your review about? There are two types. Regular and Ultra Soft. Hybrid was billed as a copolymer flourocarbon alloy a while back but now it is billed as flourocarbon nylon hybrid. Not sure anything has changed. Anyway, If I'm not using braid or braid with a flouro leader, I'm using Yo-Zuri Hybrid regular. I could be wrong but I think the co-polymer hybrid you did not like and the nylon/ flouro you did are the same thing with a different label. Good stuff either way.
  11. My 1-2 punch is a RageShad early then a vertical rigged Shellcracker swimbait. Been using the Cut-R more and more and all the rest as well. My favorite is the RageShad.
  12. I remember years ago a company called Producto that made worms like these.
  13. Trokar 2/0 weedless wacky. A bit pricey but by far the best I have used. Weedguard actually works and doesn't hinder hooksets.
  14. This was brought up recently in another thread. Red hooks do not hold up like black nickel hooks. And the red does wear off. Do they attract and catch more fish? You need to be the judge. Just check the points often and be prepared to sharpen/change them more often.
  15. Use a twin blade buzzbait.
  16. I'm with Tom on this. I don't think red hooks are made from the same high carbon steel that most premium hooks today are. Or they cannot be hardened the same prior to anodizing. Scrape or file a little section of a red hook and you will see a bronze color, like the hooks that come on less expensive baits. This is not to say that red hooks are no good and if you have confidence in them, by all means use them. In my experience, they have not made a noticeable difference but I do notice a difference in how they hold up vs Gamakatsu or Owner premium hooks that are black nickel. My opinion only.
  17. They mentioned there is better out there for the price but gave no examples. Strange. I gave my 6 year old PQ to my son and he absolutely loves it. had too many reels as I recently bought a Lews BB1 Pro for crankin'. Lews does cast a bit further. For $79.99, which it is usually on sale for, I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better value.
  18. Anyone know what type of heat gun Guido is using? Pretty slick.
  19. Used to use Spike It until I tried JJ's. I found JJ's lasts much longer and is much more potent. Maybe Spike It has gotten better, not sure, but when I used it a while back, it lasted maybe a day. Plus the bottle dried up. Switched to JJ's and haven't looked back.Found an old swimbait that I dyed the tail Chartreuse on with JJ's at the bottom of my rod rocker. Still holding it's color and even a bit of the smell remains. Must be 5 years old.
  20. If a clip or snap is altering the baits action, you're using one thats too big. I use a size one Kahara snap. No problems opening and closing them and I can switch out baits in a snap. Just watched a video of Brent Ehrler and he said he uses snaps with his cranks. Seem to remember Aaron Martens does also. Never noticed a difference in action or catch rates and unless you use the oval rings, you don't have to worry about the knot sliding around to the open spot in the ring causing breakoffs. If you feel snaps affect the baits action and reduce your confidence, by all means tie direct. It's all about confidence.
  21. Is this the first time you've had to wash off "stink finger"
  22. Per TW's site, the 734 is listed as Hvy. Technically he wasn't wrong. If you would have left off the first sentence and the part about feeling better your post would be spot on. P.S. .......There aren't ANY standards, not there isn't ANY standards.
  23. A little spit on the pointy end and slide the ring up. Once it's off the tool you need to position the ring where you want it anyway. No tool needed IMO.
  24. S.K. Pure Poison. 3/8 oz. Bluegill. Killer
