  1. It's not. More of a Crawfish smelling odor. At least the tube I still have.
  2. I think they are underrated as a weightless or Rage Rigged swimbait. And Steve- I didn't see any Rage Camo Shorts on the website you posted. Probably sell them out in no time.
  3. Although not a big bait, if there are bluegills where you fish, take a look at Jackall's Giron. Not too pricey and they work great. Slow steady retrieve gives great action. Stop it and it actually turns around like it is looking to see if anything is following it. Let it sink and it stays vertical, doesn't lay over on its side. Swim it up to a bed and kill it. Should be deadly. I don't bedfish so I don't know.
  4. Dwight- Smile! Wait, you didn't get a 6 pounder, just those pesky 4's and 5's. I'd be disappointed too.
  5. Tackle Warehouse. Unless Bass Pro has a really good sale and I have points from my card to use.
  6. I have a tube I bought from Dick's a few years back. Seems like it is more of a crawfish scent. Maybe Bobby can confirm? If you can buy it, do so because it works.
  7. Bought an SGH300 for my son and he loves it. If I didn't already have too many reels, I'd probably get one for myself. Paid $39.99. Great value.
  8. Check out the reviews at Tackle Warehouse. Click on each brand and read the reviews. Some you'll have to take with a grain of salt but you'll get a pretty good idea of what's what along with pricing. I still can't find a reason to switch from Yo-Zuri Hybrid though.
  9. I like the S.K. Tour Grade and Lethal Weapon as they both have wire keepers for the trailer. Great when fishing through really heavy stuff or after catching a few fish. Stops you having to push it back on every cast. S.K is nice because they offer 5/16 oz. which seems to be the perfect weight for me. Experiment with trailers. Just tried the Rage Menace rigged vertically last week and did good with it. Really imitates a small bluegill.
  10. Just Curious. From pictures, these would not seem to work with T-rigged baits. Do they? Have a couple rods I could use these on if they do.
  11. What he said. Or the Fat version.
  12. Caught plenty bass (and pike) in 7-9 feet on a KVD 1.5 casting the deep weededge. Lots of times I'll feel it hit a weed, let it sink back up repeat, repeat, and then bam, fish on. I probably catch more on the lipless, maybe because I use it more, but It grabs the weeds much easier also. Part of the game. Moss and milfoil are hard to rip the bait out of cleanly. If i pull up a piece of cabbage, I'm going to stay in that area for a bit before moving on. Not much timber, standing or otherwise, in my neck of the woods.
  13. XR-50 (One Knockers are my favorite). Chrome/Blue (Foxy Momma close), Foxy Lady, and Rayburn Red will cover pretty much any condition you run into. I probably have every color they make and have caught fish on all of them. I think its more about this loud obnoxious thing flying by that the fish have to kill and eat than color. But we all have our confidence colors. I probably throw the Chrome/Blue more than any other.
  14. If I could only "have" one lure it would be a Roman Made swimbait. If I could only "fish" one bait it would be a 5" senko type bait.
  15. Check reviews on Tackle Warehouse. Might even have some on Wired To Fish and Tackle Tour. I have the Pro and love it. Does hold a lot of line but that's why you should use backing.
  16. Veritas 2.0 As stated above, should be 2 separate rods or might get by with one based on lure weight. Med. action.
  17. I've found by doing this (and feathering the line) it makes me automatically check for any small loops in the line before closing the bails and starting to reel, and if I see one, I quickly pull it out. Save alot of headaches on the next cast, which will inevitably be a mess. As others have said, pretty sure most bali springs are like the spring in the end of a retractable pen with a button. Should be a lifetime part nowadays.
  18. Don't quite get some of the logic here. The same people that say there is no advantage to a tungsten jig over a lead jig will swear they need tungsten worm and dropshot weights as they telegraph what is on the bottom much better. That being said, $10.00? No way here. Gotta be a risk, reward cutoff somewhere.
  19. The vertical Shellcracker is one of my "secret" baits. Don't know why I haven't tried the Menace vertically. Maybe getting old.
  20. Anyone use the Menace as a swimjig trailer? I've used it rigged with the tails horizontal but I'm gonna try it with the tails rigged vertically tomorrow. Seems like it would be a more natural presentation. Anyone rig it this way?
  21. I heard shaving works.
  22. My Brother. He's been called a tool. I have a toolbox with standard and philips screwdrivers, long and short, a nut driver set, a ratchet set, a wrench for the prop, a punch for tapping out the drive pin on my trolling motor, wire cutter/stripper, and several other items that I have needed in the past but didn't have along with extra spare parts like fuses, Trolling Motor rope, drain plug etc. On the deck, I keep a couple long nose pliers, line clippers, braid scissors, jaw spreaders for pike and musky and a hook sharpening stone. Probably forgetting some stuff but my motto is: "Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it."
  23. I use the offset EWG hooks (texposed) for all plastics except when flipping. Then I use a straight shanh heavy hook with the plastic barb keeper. For me, straight shanh hooks are too high maintenance. Re- position bait every cast and the point tends to peek through and pick up trash. The onlt time I set the hook and miss I get half the worm back beacause it was a bluegill or rockbass. No problems with bass. I think the bass get pinned on better also at the corner of the EWG hook where the straight portion from the point back starts its bend.
  24. ^^^^^^^^^^^^ 7'0" medium 2.0 is noticeably less stiff than the original. I now have 2 of the newer version. They are great rods for the money. For any money for that matter.
  25. I use these on my crankbait setup: http://www.***.com/Kahara_Quick_Lock_Snap These are by far the best I've used. Landed several large pike and a few muskies over 45" while cranking for bass and never had an issue. And those toothy guys like to shake their heads.
