  1. 2 ways to check. 1: Smell the pack. 2: Coffee scented baits have a sticker on the pack (at east every pack I've bought.) Might have to search Ebay as I think all new baits are scented. The Dick's near me has a few old packs of non-scented baits but most are. Big-O.....?
  2. AMEN!
  3. X2. I spool on enough line so that there is about 80-100 yards left then wrap electrical tape tightly around it. Just tie on new line and spool what you're going to use, unless you're after something that will run off 100 yds of line on you. 300 yd spool will fill 3 reels, not 2 with just enough left over to tick you off.
  4. Gotta love technology. ;D P.S. I don't care how good those are, they are just too dang ugly!
  5. X2 If I paid that much for that bait it would wind up in a plastic case on my mantle and hopefully increase in value. Anyway it is pretty cool looking.
  6. Strke King Caffiene Shad has a good sinkrate. Z-Too is very durable but stays near the top. Yum Houdini Shad and BPS Shadee Shad are good options also.
  7. 10 or 12 lb Trilene XL for me. 15 lb Big Game around cover. Can't wait for the chicken!
  8. Like Fluke said, go for bluegills if you have to. Take him in the spring when they are spawning and try to find a "minefield" of beds and you can catch them one after the other. With my son when he was younger, he wanted to go fishing but also got bored easily. If the fished stopped biting, I would take him turtle hunting. He would sit beside me with a landing net and we would cruise through the slop looking for a turtle head sticking up. He'd usually get a few and that made him happy. The anticipation kept him interested.
  9. X2 Much easier to put on. Never had a problem in hot or cold weather.
  10. With dual braking reels, you have the option of tuning the magnets off if you are used to centrifugal, turning the pins off if you prefer the magnets, or tinkering with a combination of both. 3 options are usually better than one. Still, it comes down to what you can afford, and what you are used to and comfortable with.
  11. Wish I could afford either right now. :-[
  12. Doesn't the HD stand for High Def? I would think it would give you a better picture of what you're looking for.
  13. Dual braking is a combination of centrifugal pin brakes and magnetic brakes which are used on the STX and a few BPS reels. I think the worm is turning. A little while ago you would get 75% Shimano lovers responding. Now it looks like 50/50 Shimano/Revo. I have both and both are great reels but I personally prefer the Revo. It fits the way I palm my set-ups better. Everyone will and should have his/her own preference.
  14. Do not imitate Bill Dance. I cringe whenever I see him land a fish because he almost always holds it up horizontally. Let it hang straight down vertically holding the lower jaw or lift it up by the belly with your other hand for a quick horizontal photo.
  15. I use 6.4 and 7.1 reels. Agree 100% about easier to slow down than speed up. If the lure grabs a weed or some other gunk, or a fish for that matter, you can get it in faster and make another cast. But as said, personal preference. 6.4 is good all around reel for anything.
  16. Or give the older guys some good distant memories?
  17. Brian- I take it you never watched the X-Files on T.V. There was an episode about it That took place south of the border.
  18. Been wearing a couple pairs of my son's hand me down New Balance shoes the last few years. Comfortable as h*ll and I don't think I could wear them out if I tried. He wears 14 wide now so I can't ride that gravy train anymore. :-[
  19. Bummer! I was looking forward to sitting down for a beer or six to see if our family trees crossed roots somewhere back in time. But I can understand the roof thing, I could have taken one heck of a road trip two years ago for what mine cost me. :-[ If that beer or six offer stands, we can do some exploring. Spelled with an "E", not "O". I can't remember seeing the name ever spelled with an "O" but I get get mail at work spelled that way all the time. We're Scandinavian Vikings!
  20. I'm gonna hold you to that. Won't turn down a beer either.
  21. The worst it will probably do is stink up the box and everything within a 1 mile radius of it. Put the baits back in the zip-lock bag they came in and leave them there until they are ready for use.
  22. Man, That looks good enough to be sold on Dozer's site! (Gotta get you two trading barbs again.) :
  23. Great day Simp! Is ZZ coming to KY lake? That's one dude I want to party with!
