  1. MassYak85 try taking a screwlock off one of your bellyweighted hooks and screwing it into the nose of a fluke bait. Then a 2/0 hook through the loop of the screw lock will give you more hooksets. JMHO Rhino...Al would be so proud of you... By the way, I've been fishing first and second drop offs in a summer pattern and 82 degree water for more than a month now. Fish are wailing on shaky heads down here.
  2. Just in time to remove any protective cover from the emergent fry.... Soon...without weeds and without fishermen... it will be the perfect spot to waterski and jetski... leaving many lakes open and available to be fished in peace. Even fishing with gators is better than battling "stupid".
  3. Not as well as a weightless T-rigged Senko. Away from the weeds just a little and a Wacky Senko should also cover most of the water column.
  4. First time in a boat that you are operating or a guide is operating? If you are by yourself...just fish edges. Be prepared to fish top water, spinnerbaits, deep running Crankbaits and stuff to bounce on the bottom. The day'll be over before you know it..... If you're with a guide, just do what you're told.
  5. Check out the John R Bettis Boat landing Park on Goose Creek and Bushy Park near the Military Base. Both have spots to fish from....but don't bring your dog because both have plenty of Alligators. Good luck and stay safe.
  6. By the way...The Savannah River will probably be your only freshwater venue and that will be 50 or so miles west. You're probably best off sticking to inshore and marsh fishing for Reds and Speckled Trout. Live or frozen shrimp on a Carolina rig is my guess. As always JMHO
  7. Oh...TreeTops...Over my head...I get it...
  8. Had both hips done a few years ago and the big secret was good conditioning before and rehab hard and often after. Listen to your therapist. Also...any fishing that you can sneek in will be excellent medicine. Just be careful around those steep banks. Wishing you the best...Grampa
  9. March 20, 2017 If you are into piercings or good needle point... Ignore those skin care warnings. JMHO
  10. So I needed to replenish my hooks...almost out of some...some rusted up...you know the drill...got a birthday discount from Bass Pro...so what the heck...I only needed a few sizes and styles...$62.....I think I have a problem.....
  11. I suppose that the audacity of someone to mention that ONE of the FOUR pins at the front of this section dealing specifically with your question, might seem a little condescending to someone with your vast technical abilities but it works for us simple folks who pay attention to the directions. deaknh03 may be right with leaving it at Thank You. JMHO Grampa1114
  12. Now you're catching on....Remember Sunblocking long sleeves and gloves and SPF50 sunblock...I know...I know...but you GOTTA DO IT!!!
  13. This year the surgeries will keep me from the Pickwick Meeting. No Joke...Cover Up.
  14. Ok...might as well weigh in on this...you might just try a 3" or 4" sluggo with a #2 drop shot hook and 6#Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Might just work. Also works well on a 1/16 oz jighead. (see Avatar).
  15. Perhaps you could look into a local Car Toppers Club out of a local bait shop. Lots of them popping up with kayak and canoe interest spiking.
  16. Gave up on Tournament Trails and Club Tournaments a long time ago but would be more than willing to fish for a Cause. So...if there are Benefit tournaments in the Low Country of South Carolina, let me know. I'm a boater and can bring a partner or take one. Fished a couple of PVA's and loved them. Grampa1114
  17. Calm down people...finish what you've got and buy the good stuff when it's time....It's just not that much more expensive. In Massachusetts they never did bother to check anybody's tackle box for compliance. There just aren't enough folks in most states DNR's to waste their time on stuff like that. 2022 is a long way off and let's hope there's still fishable water.
  18. 10am...64 air temp...50 water temp. Fished 2 hours...gained 6 degrees air temp...2.6 degrees water temp. Bounced Ned rig, Grub and Senkos off the bottom of the troughs and caught 1 fish. Threw 3/8 oz tandem chartreuse spinnerbait in around and over stump field 1.5'-2.5' deep and 52.6 degrees. Caught nothing and switched to 1/4 oz single blade white spinnerbait and still caught nothing. Clear water and very long casts still got me nothing. Twitch bait got caught on every stump with every twitch. Went home.
  19. 65 yesterday, 75 today, Lake Moultrie tomorrow midday. Twitch and maybe spinnerbait in the shallow stumps and bouncing something small in the troughs. We'll see.....
  20. My $.02 If you are fishing from shore..try to find the closest spot to severe depth changes and bounce something slowly off the bottom until you get hit. Then pay attention. Sun getting higher and water warming will change things. Again pay attention. If you are fishing from a boat then reverse the procedure...maybe with a slowly cranked, deep diving crank bait or again something bouncing off the bottom. Remember to pay attention to where the hits are happening. Bass are always hungry but they've been confused by the weather so the most important thing you can do is pay attention...good luck.
  21. I've caught 3 bass in 10 outings so.....let me know how you make out. I've changed venues and am now targeting Lake Moultrie at the Hatchery. Good luck...
  22. To all my Eastern Mass fishing friends I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and I'll be thinking of you while fishing the 60+ degree, stump filled shallows of Lake Moultrie. I really miss the cold and snow and chopping through the ice, and the cameraderie of the folks sharing my coffee and brandy. Best to All. Grampa
  23. Totally agree with Roadwarrior (doesn't always happen). Being retired you get to miss the morning traffic, you're on the water for the noon traffic and then you're home before the evening traffic. There's a lot of shallow, warm water at midday on Lake Moultrie. Life is good.
  24. I like it, Glenn. Simple, easy to read and understand. Good on the old eyes. Nice.
