  1. Comfort is a very subjective item....I personally find them very comfortable...wet or dry...
  2. Mike, you're 17 years old(Happy Birthday, by the way), and you haven't caught a ton of giants yet......What a surprise......If you keep doing the things that you're doing, and do them in the right order, then I have a hunch that you'll catch plenty of fish. Use those surface running crankbaits early and late in low light conditions. Use the spinnerbait when the early bite stops and before the late bite begins and bounce the worms off the bottom in the weeds in the middle of the day. This doesn't work every time.....but it does work. Grampa
  3. I'm just glad you're asking.....Buff has worked for me for gloves and collars both....found in most Fly fishing sections of the larger tackle stores and at $15-$20, a real lifesaving bargain.
  4. I carry 2 5'2" buggy whip ul rods at all times in the car. Normally a small crank or twitchbait on one and 1/16 oz ballhead w/a 3"sluggo on the other. I use 4# flourocarbon and have on rare occasions even caught a fish with these rigs.
  5. Amen to "not falling out of the boat" Sam.........don'tcha hate that........unless it's really hot............
  6. Thank You for your wisdom, Homer Circle..........you taught us well.
  7. Sounds like you don't need to 'get' anything. Pick something out that you already have, find an article on it in our library, read an article or two from our pros on where to throw it, and then go practice until it starts to work. You have to catch your own fish and you will if you don't run out of patience first. Just remember that this is supposed to be fun. Grampa
  8. I'd like to learn from the 'Old Timers' how the new electronics has effected their approach to tournament preparation. Denny Brauer, Stacy King, Guy Eaker, Gary Klein.....guys who are still playing the game hard. Grampa
  9. Guys, Guys, this is an initial suggestion....if somebody has a better idea, I want to hear it. I know that it's summertime and everybody has commitments but we've got to start somewhere. How about...Who's interested in anything? Can I get a show of hands please.......
  10. Check out the container aisle at Home Depot.....usually aisle 3.....
  11. I agree.....and that fish can buy his own Coke.
  12. I keep them in their original bags and then sort them by type, into 1 gallon Hefty(sorry about the brand name) freezer bags because they have an area suitable for writing catagories on the bags with a magic marker, and by nature are extremely strong. Then they are easily taken from the boat to the big KVD pouch if I'm fishing in a different boat. This seems to be working nicely, so far.
  13. Here goes nothin': Who's free Saturday, June 30, for a run to the Merrimack River in Lawrence? Anyone.....Anyone
  14. Last I heard...sometime back...a fellow who lived close to there said that he fished it regularly but things change so who knows.
  15. Fort Meadow on Rt 85n and Lake Williams on Rt 20w, don't forget that Quinsigamond boat ramp with a fishing pier, is right down 290. Grampa
  16. Perhaps a 'lead ban' is in order.
  17. Nice fish...caught one about that size 3 weeks ago that weighed 2.7. Let's catch them again in the fall and see how big they get.
  18. Wait 'til the weekend and watch the culture shift.
  19. Hmm.....
  20. Great advice, from Sam.....I saw that you threw a half dozen different lures over the course of maybe 2-3 hours. You also mentioned that this is your second year of serious bassfishing. Perhaps, and this is only a suggestion, the KISS principle should prevail for short evening trips. My suggestion would be smaller twitch baits(suspending) and 4" black 'T'rigged rubber worms, and that's it. Gentle twitches around cover will leave twitch baits on the surface and sharper twitches will bring them to midrange. The worm will go inside weeds and under docks. If you eliminate too much lure selection then you can concentrate on pattern development. JMHO Grampa
  21. HELLO......Anybody out there? Are we fishin' together or not? Anyone....Anyone...
  22. Ok Jim, that's a beginning...if your front deck has a separating wall to the cockpit then, after you secure the battery tray down, also add a strap around the battery to that wall for lateral movement. this can be done with eyelets and a bungee cord at minimum. This will relieve the stress on the tray mounting bolts.
  23. So...I said I'd report after my next trip.....it just took longer than I thought.....Fishing Rhino and I went to Cochituate today and we both did very well...we caught bass on senkos(Rhino) and sluggos(me) and spinnerbaits and crankbaits and grubs. We also caught crappie, pickeral, bluegill, and white perch. More than 20 bass mostly from 1.5 to 3.5 lb. We fished north lake and middle lake. We had a good time. Cochituate is alive and well and worth the trip. Added Note: There are kayaks and rowboats for rent at the ramp if you need them.
  24. But there's always a few fish who were deep in the spring and didn't get the memo.....especially here in New England in NH and VT you can still find some lucky couples dating through July. Don't let anything surprise you.....especially this year.
  25. Well there's this dam on Otter creek, in down town Vergennes Vt. The smallmouth and occasionally some very nice walleye, stop there for dinner on the way to Champlain. Well worth a visit.
