  1. I've had my TR-175 Triton DC for 7 years and it rides and fishes great in most conditions. It is a little small for consistent big water use and rod storage is limited to rods less than 7' otherwise the quality is excellent and I would recommend the brand highly. I think that you'll find any quality rig will hold it's value well for at least a few years.
  2. Time to rotate my spinning reels.....I want to buy American.....Looks like Ardent is the only game in town.....Any suggestions?
  3. Well... if you tell us when you might be available..... and how mobile you are..... perhaps you could hook a ride.....
  4. It is my observation that the attempt at achieving an Eastern Mass Get together, seems to have come at the wrong time. I, for one, am not going to waste a good Sunday in hopes that people who don't care enough to commit, might show up. I will not be there and for this year am done trying to organize an event. Maybe I'll see you next year. Grampa
  5. I tend to agree with Mikey, a 4"black curlytail worm, texas rigged with a 1/8 weight will have a weedless, forgiving hook and be down in the weeds to show him some cover. 1/0 hooks should work as well for you as they did for my wife. Remember to tell him that this is "fun". Grampa
  6. Sorry to hear that Freebie but PM me and I'll tell you where to drop off those Tuna steaks......Hope all is well..... Grampa
  7. It's a shame that you're not fishing Nev 'cause the Cape is loaded with some legendary ponds. For instance, Mashpee Wakeby gave us a 40+lb, 5 bass stringer in a federation tournament and has been giving up 4lb smallmouth all summer. I personally caught a 4lb Pickerel and a 5.25lb Pickerel on 2 consecutive casts there, last month. There are 365 ponds on the Cape and many hold trophy Large and Small mouth Bass. Next time you come, bring your rods. Grampa
  8. It will be better for all planning if we get a proper head count as soon as possible. It's ok to say "maybe" if you are still up in the air but lets get all the definites down please. The fishing should be very good. Grampa
  9. Good question Rhino...The fee is $5. for parking but if you are over 63 then you may attain a "lifetime Free Parking Pass" at the gate which works in all Mass State Parks.
  10. Tate and I went to Lake Cochituate today, on a scouting trip. I have some good news and some bad. The bad news is the park is open from 8am to dark on Saturdays and Sundays until Columbus Day. There is a $5 fee to use the park. Please be aware of the change in start time for the event. The good news is the fishing was very good with a total of 20 or so fish for a 8:30 to 12:30 day. The fish were willing to hit Spinnerbaits and Grubs, in and around weed beds. My thanks to Tate for an enlightening tour.
  11. It's 2 months later and no one has mentioned that they were checked...........Hmmm.....
  12. Correct me if I'm wrong: Sept 30, Lake Cochituate, 7am Boater...................... Non-Boater Tate......................... Basshunter1961 Grampa1114........... The one that got away Backwoodsbasser... Deaknh Ror Boy................... Grundlelove............ Tate...meat and grill, Grampa1114...cookies...................?????
  13. The Merrimack river in Mass...both Lowell and Lawrence gives many crankbait opportunities as well.
  14. Backwoodsbasser if you are interested in joining us at Cochituate then perhaps you could hook up with Deaknh03 for traveling .
  15. Excellent RorBoy.....Hope you can nail it down....and maybe get somebody a ride at the same time.....
  16. Marty's right...get some knowledge behind you and then just go fishing. We can all give you opinions on what to throw and where but in your first year...get comfortable with the hobby..start learning and practicing...see what styles that you like. There is a big difference between throwing a crankbait all day and bouncing a worm. Remember to have fun doing it. Grampa
  17. Sorry to hear about your daughter, hope all goes well. You will be missed at the GT.

  24. There is no tournament event scheduled for Sept 30, that is my pick and a 7am start should work as the park is not officially open so the gates will be open early. If we want a meal after then plans should be made here for all to see. I will be there with an open back seat. This is a fine opportunity and all are welcome. State your intentions clearly please. Grampa
