  1. See if a local radio station has a schedule of events/local activities they announce. A couple in our area do and it is free.
  2. Keep in touch. A new Bass Club is in the works. I also just got a hold of the open tournament list for the area. At this time I am looking for a non boater yet for two series.
  3. Thats going to be a problem this year. Quite a few lakes in this area have ice on them yet. From Stone Lake to TFF. I imagine another week of warmer weather will fix that.
  4. Thanks for the link, I saw that earlier. Sadly there are very few Bass Clubs in this area. They are of course full, the new tournament rules for WI this year helped that out. Seems to be a shortage of people who are passionate about bass fishing in this area too. At least by my experiences. 54 guys where I work and not one goes after the bass. I'm going to play it by ear this year, maybe find a non-boater and enter tournaments get to know some people in the area. Hopefully build a couple friendships or contacts for next year. Spend a little more time in my kayak, taking trips to new lakes, and going after Musky.
  5. You don't wanna know....
  6. Actually if you season right before you grill that is what you are doing bringing the moisture out of the meat to the surface. Thats why I said dry the meat well. So you dont steam it. Initially the salt brings out moisture, in turn the salt dissolves into the water and returns to the cut. Hence making it tender. We can hash this all day....But I'm sure I'm correct on this, because I have prepared and eaten many steaks this way. To each his own, but never knock it until you tried it twice.
  7. That is a recipe for a dry piece of meat. Actually quite the opposite. Buy a cheap steak and try it. Oh and read up on osmosis... We ain't makin' jerky here boy ;D
  8. Yeah, I have an older model BPS Extreme Woo Daves signature worm rod with 6 inches broken off and retipped at 6 feet, the cork has been sanded down to nothing, and I'm sure the guide inserts are ready to pop out any second now. $475 shipped in a fun-noodle. ;D Wish you had 2 of those....It's just not worth paying the shipping for one
  9. Kick *ss ! Nothing better than the first boat. That thing will take you right to 'em. Congratulations and Good Luck
  10. I would say from the ages of 6-10 spending every chance I could fishing with my grandfather. He taught me the how, when, where and why's of fishing without any fancy gear. Keeping it simple and learning alot.
  11. It helps more than you know, I was going to buy a Nikon D40x this month, but for under 300 bucks I think I will give that a go. Appreciate the heads up. Sure is nothing better than those pelican cases. Nice set up Chris! HERO! Pop this into favs for future reference.
  12. WHAT NO KETCHUP?? ;D But seriously you want a juicy steak COAT it like a salt lick in sea salt for 1 hour. Rinse and pat dry really really well. Then throw that bad boy on the grill. Amazing
  13. I second that. those are some great looking fish and some Beautiful photos. Outstanding! Out of curiosity do you use a DSLR camera?
  14. I tried the power prop for Minn Kota. I didn't notice a difference. I wouldn't spend the money. The Drive pin kits are nice and it is a simple fix, I carry one on my boat (prop too) after having a fishing weekend shortened due to an overzealous fishing partner.
  15. Google has a nice little " product search results " anytime I see something posted in a forum I would be interested in I do my research. Google it, check BPS, check Cabelas, h*ll check Walmart if you have to. Sellers and/or buyers may not be aware the item they are selling is discounted somewhere. So a PM to a seller or buyer is a great idea, I'm sure the price would be adjusted. Do your homework folks. I would like to think most fishermen/women are being as honest as possible, just uninformed or unaware the item can be gotten cheaper new. See I have this sickness that won't let me part with any fishing gear, but it allows me to buy everything I think I need....or is that want? ;D : ;D Good topic to be discussed. P.S. Got anything for sale? haha
  16. This is how i did mine, it works slick. No worries of losing a transducer to the rocks. I have a 585C on mine. Which is really overboard for a yak, but it was a left over I had when I upgraded to the SI. http://www.fishingminnesota.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/831312
  17. Wish they were flowing the other way. Going to be low waters here again if we don't get piles of rain.
  18. I really need to take a trip south. I would love to get into some of those peacock bass.
  19. Well there is only one answer for that! More Lakewoods takle boxes!!! olh and a bigger boat ;D
  20. That's true for the southern part of the state. Northern parts of the state didn't do nearly as well for snowfall this year.
  21. No, not really a bad winter, it's just been hanging on. Usually by now we have to use planks to get out to the ice and fish, it's no where near that yet. 24" of ice last weekend yet. Still lots of snow on the ground and high 30's to low 40's for temps. It's just felt way too long this year too.
  22. Anyone here a member of a local bass club in north west Wisconsin? It seems the local club here has a full membership with a long waiting list. I plan on entering the Wisconsin Team Circuit and the Cash for Bass series. Along with a couple Muskies Inc dates. Anyone else fish these?
  23. Last year it was very action orientated. I fished it from my boat once and my kayak a couple times. I usually drop in north of Amery and work my way down its alot of fun in the yak.
  24. I don't remember ever being this jacked up to go fishing. I have wore a grove from the couch to the computer to my boat pacing the last couple weeks. All my gear is reorganized, cleaned, lubed, fresh spooled, restocked and ready to go. I built more bucktails and spinners than I have built any winter before. Which has posed another problem...While I wait for the 2 feet of ice to melt off and the season to open I have replaced my need to wet a line with the need to buy anything fishing related I can get my hands on. Five more weeks of this and I won't be able to afford to go fishing. :-/
