  1. Don't forget their newest high priced rod the Voluptuous. It is similar to the Bass Pro Shops rods but it has two powerhumps that will really grab your attention . Of course this model will cost you a fortune......they always do!
  2. Braid doesn't sink as well as mono or floro but you shouldn't see any negative affects fishing a senko because they are pretty heavy baits. I have been fishing braid exclusively for around 3 years and have not see any ill effects on lure action or diminished catches. Some people don't like the smaller diameter braid because they say it digs into your spool when you set the hook and can cause backlashes on future casts. I personally fish 30 test. It does dig in every now and then but it isn't bad or that often. I am going to have to respectfully disagree with xxjoker122. Braid has no stretch which leads to a better hookset because all the energy you put into the sweep of the rod is put into the sinking of the hook. With floro and mono the line stretches and it takes more effort to get as good of a hookset. This lack of stretch also helps you to feel every little bite, tap, rock, or bottom contour.
  3. I agree 100%. BPS has the perfect hook keeper. I don't know why shimano and other big name rod companies won't switch over.
  4. If you can only afford one I would go with last years curado. The new chronarch has a plastic drag star. If I am paying $200 for a reel it should be all metal. I'm not a big fan of the color scheme either. It looks like the white would show scratches and boat rash easier. Take the $30 and buy some lures.
  5. I use all of these setups below with baitcasters 6'6 or 6'8 mh fast for weighted plastics, frogs, spinnerbaits 6'6 m fast for weightless plastics 6'6 ml fast (bends almost as much as a moderate) for everything with a treble hook and crazy light weightless plastics. So far i have not found a situation where these combos wouldnt work. I have to switch out baits every now and then but thats not to bad. A spinning reel would do the job as good or better for the weightless plastics but i dont like fishing them. I also don't mess with longer rods because I fish mostly small river systems and ponds and therfore dont need the extra casting distance and also they don't fit in my truck as easily.
  6. How big a river? I fish a small river (avg. 100 feet wide and 10 ft. Or less deep) that has lots of fallen trees in it. The fish bite a little better during low ligh but can be caught all day long. I try to hit current breaks hard and areas with overhanging brush that creates shade. If you can find both that's even better.
  7. Same thing here. I guess I will have to wait.
  8. The day 2 coverage was much better, we actually got to see some fishing! I love the slow motion replay that they are using.
  9. Wow. Mike that does stink. Can you watch them in delay on the internet?
  10. The tv coverage of day one of the classic was TERRIBLE! They showed several scenes about four times and spent way too much time showing Zona and the other guy talking. I assume this was because they had cameras on the big name guys that were favored to win and they had a bad day. I still would rather see them catch some fish rather than watch two people talk and do interviews. I sure hope the next two days of coverage are better because today's sucked. I must admit I did enjoy watching Aaron Martens get hit in the head with that flying bass. The only way that could have been better would be if it got stuck in his mouth so I wouldn't have to hear him mumble.
  11. ML makes a good crankbait rod. I prefer medium for weightless senkos and MH for spinnerbaits.
  12. Best: Try a baitcaster/braided line/black trick worm and you'll never go back. Worst: It's too windy to fish (with only a 10 mph wind blowing).
  13. I fish mostly small rivers (about 30 yards wide). I fish out of the front of the boat, however my partner tries to cast way out in front on me instead of fishing the pocket you can't cast to untill you are past a bush/tree that is hanging in the water. Then I have to turn around and cast to the spot while he throws over and past me. If he would just fish from the middle of the boat and back we could cover water much more efficiently.
