  1. I'm currently training for a Half-marathon (13.1 miles). Slomoe, Go to a running store (not Foot Locker or Shoe warehouse...a true running store). Tell them your shins hurt when you run. They can show you the right running shoe for you. Kind of like having the right rod and reel combo, you need the right shoe for the way you legs pronate when you run. Also, they are about the same as you would pay for "running" shoes at Foot Lock, etc. Getting the right shoe made my shin splints and knees problems go away.
  2. Anyone use Fish-n-Spin Lures? If so, what do you think of them? How do you fish them?
  3. I don't have a boat and I'm just wondering who else here does most of there fishing from the bank? If you do, any tips for a beginner who fishes from the bank? Thanks!
  4. First, Thank to everyone who replied. You've already made me feel welcome! After reading some articals and your replays, I've decided to use what I have for now. I did get a Rapala kit that has clippers, 2 types of pliers and a scale. I saw it while I was at target. I found an artical on setting the drag and set the drag to 2 pounds (I have 8lb test on may reel).
  5. Dean, What color Senko do you recommend? What size hook?
  6. The Beginner sections is really helpful. I found a lot a of great stuff there. Popeye, I'm excited to catch anything, but want to try bass fishing. I'll also be fishing for panfish, especially when going camping - try to catch dinner! For the Crappie and Bgills I've ordered a Beetle-spin type tube kit from Fish-n-Spin. I've heard a lot of good things about those tiny lures and can't wait to give them a try. I live in SW Iowa and will be fishing Around CB. Lake Manawa and Bear Lake mainly. I've hear they are stocking the Western Historic Trails pond with Trout this year, some I may try that as well.
  7. Which lures would you recommend to use from the bank? What's a ball jig? I'm not looking to catch anything big. I just want to get started and have a good time.
  8. I use to go bobber fishing as a kid, but not a whole lot. I want to get back into fishing. I read a great artical on Getting Started in Bass fishing and got some equipent. I got some stuff already, but wanted to know what other basic stuff I'll need. I'll be fishing from the Bank. Here is what I have: Pfluger Gold medalist Pro (size 35) from Dicks - Basically the GX-7 reel with an extra bearing in the handle. Real smooth. 8 lbs. camo Mr. Crappie Line A med action collapsible pole from Cabella's - Wanted something easy to take with me when I go camping. Owner's 2/0 offset hooks Slug-Go 4 1/2 inch stick bait smoke and grey color Some Bettle-spin lures (1/32, 1/16 and 1/8 once) Char/Black What else should I get. The artical recommended a Rapala Original Floating Minnow and a Midge O'rina (I have not been able to find this lure anywhere) I think it is a top water lure...any one know and can suggest a comparable lure might be? Any other suggestion for a newbie?
