  1. I’m wanting to start fishing swimbaits without breaking the bank. I’ve done a little research and narrowed the list down to a few rods and was hoping to get some input. I know there are other options priced around the same as these rods, but since I’m using gift cards to purchase the rod I’m limited on options. Anyone have experience with any of these rods? If so, what do you think? - St. Croix BassX 7’10 Heavy - Lamiglax X-11 8’ Heavy - St. Croix Mojo 7’10 Heavy
  2. I noticed that the new models (speaking specifically to the 2018 Tournament Legends) only carry a 15 year warranty where the older models carry a lifetime (limited) warranty. 15 years is a long time, but there is some piece-of-mind about a lifetime warranty. Wonder why St. Croix shortened the warranty?
  3. Pulled the trigger on the 6’8 MXF rod (2018 model…I like the new reel seat), and I’m pretty stoked. I did notice that the new models only carry a 15 year warranty where the older models carry a lifetime (limited) warranty. 15 years is a long time, but there is some piece-of-mind about a lifetime warranty. Wonder why the shortened the warranty?
  4. I’m looking at a new spinning rod and I’ve narrowed it down to two. I’ll be using it mainly for plastics (but also some top water and jerkbaits). It’s between 7’1 MF and 6’8 MXF (both rods have the same line and lure weight). I like the idea of the shorter rod (for more accurate casting) and it’s a little lighter, but the 7’1 is recommended for plastics. Would the 6’8 not be a good plastics rod too? Any one handle both and have a preference?
  5. I noticed the G. Loomis crankbait rods on sale at TW. Are they updating the crankbait series or discontinuing? I was going to buy a CBR845 in the near future, but if it is being discontinued then I might be looking for another crankbait rod to suit my needs.
  6. Apologies if this has been discussed...I haven't been on the forum in a long time. I'm a huge fan of yo-zuri ultra soft line and my stock has run out. I'm having a hard time finding some to purchase. Anyone know where I can find some? Or it might be time to find another line. I'm curious what everyone else has replaced this line with.
  7. The metal fuel tank is from the previous owner. I have a plastic tank. It was not easy to find a quality tank that would fit between the pods. Thanks for the replies!
  8. Currently I have a 1436 Alumacraft and a '88 Evinrude 9.9 HP motor pushing it. I'm looking to upgrade to a Mercury FourStroke. Most advice is always get the max HP the boat is rated for. Wellmy Alumacraft is rated for a 20 HP motor, but when I saw the 20 HP Mercury it looked huge (compared to my 9.9). Do you guys think I will be ok with the 20 HP or should I go with the 15 HP? Hopefully the attached picture will help out. What are your thoughts?
  9. The boat is located in Huntsville, AL. I am located in Nashville, TN.
  10. I'm looking to upgrade from a 14ft flat bottom to something I can take the family out in with breaking the bank. In your opinion is this boat worth $4500. It's a 1998 Alumacraft Lunker V16 with a 2002 40 HP 4 stroke Yamaha tiller (electric start). It's a drive from where I live so before I decide to check it out I would like everyone's opinion if it's even worth it. Thoughts?
  11. I need to extend the cable from my starter to the battery by about 4ft. I've got an '88 model 9.9 HP Evinrude. Does anyone have any idea what gauge wire I should use?
  12. Not sure if this will help you, but I took these notes from a Field and Stream magazine on how to patch up cork handles 1. Sand a wine cork (220 thru 240 grit sand paper) to make a fine cork dust. About ½ teaspoon to fill 1 centimeter hole. 2. Mix powder and wood glue, enough to create smooth, dry consistency like cookie dough (should not be fluid like). 3. Use sharp pointed tool to clean out pitted areas. Fill them with the patch material. The filler will shrink when it dries, so repeat process to get the hole flush with the grip. 4. Once filler is drysand, wash, and then seal the cork. Hope this helps.
  13. I'm in the market for an onboard battery charger. I'm looking for a charger with two banks (trolling motor battery and starter battery). Any advice (specifically manufacture, brand, etc.) you can give me would be greatly appreciated as I have never bought one.
  14. I have a Falcon Original (model FS-1L-16) paired with a Shimano Sedona 750 FB. By far the best light action combo I have ever owned.
  15. This may not help you, but I have The Fish Grip (from Cabelas..excellent buy). It has a hole specifically for the hook. What scale did you go with and what do you think? I'm still reading reviews and trying to determine which one to buy.
