  1. I have been going down to milford lake kansas for work. We go about every two weeks and stay for 3-5 days at a time. My boss always takes his fishing pole with and lands quite a few smallies on live bait. This next time we go I am going to take my pole but I dont know what kind of baits to use. The cove that we fish has a good rocky bottom. We only get to fish for them in the evening. Some thing I was thinking of taking were Tubes(dont know what color) Grubs (dont know what color) and maybe a small jerk bait. As far as the tubes and grubs would you rig them weightless or with weight and how much weight. Do I fish the bottom or the middle or the top of the water collum. I have never fished for just smallies and would like to start. The info will be of great help. Thanks
  2. 1)Rapala skitter walk 2)Zoom Trick worm in green pumkin weightless 3)Zoom Horny toad 4)Strike King double take buzzbait 5)3/8oz jig with a Zoom speedcraw in junebug as a trailer. I have had a few other baits but not as good as the top three.
  3. I want to fish this lake this summer for a tourny. I dont know how much time I will be able to practice on it but I was wondering if you could give me some ideas on where to start. There are a few things I know about it tho. Where the 10 foot flat meets the drop off that goes to 22 feet there are submerged trees write on the edge of the flat. But other than that I dont know much about the lake. Here is a depth map of the lake. http://www.ngpc.state.ne.us/fishing/programs/lakemapping/pdfs/wildwood.pdf
  4. We are having heavy rains and tornado's in nebraska have had a few touch down about 45 miles from my house. They are expecting 2"inches of rain or more. I am going to a 350 acre lake on saturday that has some flooded timber and 3 islands not much cover and no drop offs to be found except for at the dam. It is 16ft deep at full pool but it will be up if we get 2" of rain. I dont know what to throw after a large rain like this. Before I found out it was going to rain I was going to hit up the creek channel with DT-10's and topwater the first few hours but I dont know if that will still work. I dont know if I should fish slow or keep to the cranking idea. The advise would be great. Thanks
  5. I like both baits but which one do you like better. The tail on the swimming senko looks like it would tear off in easily. Also tell me how you rig a swimming senko.
  6. Cool Cool. except for that millard north shirt. GO LINCOLN SOUTHWEST!!!
  7. I dont know if this is weird or not. 1)I was fishing a moss pad and a HUGE frog attacked my frog lure and hooked himself. I reeled him in and he weighed over a pound. I have never seen this before. 2)We were on a fishing trip up in south dakota, the other boat we were fishing with had caught a fish, well the pole went into the water. The same guy that just lost his pole throw out a lure and caught his pole and then caught the fish. 1 in a million.
  8. Yes Wagon train is very good. I have been fishing there a lot lately. I believe it is so good due to there 21 inch length limit. I have been catching 15-20 inchers about every time I go out and a lot of 15inch and less. I dont know how many fish are being taken out but I wouldnt keep a fish from any lake unless it was a state record. Also the lake is very dirty right now but is starting to get better.
  9. Has anyone ever used these lure or have called them there go to bait. I dont know anything about the lures but they look great in the water. the prices are a little high but if they work great then ill have to try them out. I was looking at getting these lures, if you have one of these lures let me know what you think of them 1)Jackall Giron swimbait 19.99 2)Megabait bass grande swimbait 6.99 3)Megabait charlie suspending swimbait 6.99 4)Jackall Mask 100 flexable jerkbait 19.99
  10. Hey fellow huskers sounds like you guys are have a good time. I went down to wagon train on saturday and caught 2 bass one was 3.5lbs both on a rattlin rapala up in the north end by all the submerged trees. There were a lot of crappie fisher men out there. my grandpa ended up with 3.
  11. Thanks guys for that info. I do have a rod that will support fireline (7' ugly stik) I want to use it for flippin. I completly hate 80lb and 65lbs braid. All you can use it for is flippin. Atleast with 30lbs fireline I can still fish with it as well as flip. Thanks again
  12. Ya I fully agree with youg guys about it. I went out tonight and tried it out and it was crap. You had to reel it so FAST to get any action. It maybe good for VERY AGRESSIVE fish but not if you are just trying to slow roll it by them. I wont buy another one. The little 2" and 3" ones are awazing, they work perfect.
  13. Has anyone had any luck on the STORM WILDEYE 4" KICKIN' SLAB? I just got two, one in black crappie and one in bluegill. I had good luck with the little 2" ones but I was catching little 8" bass on the thing. I think this will keep the small one off. Thanks, let me know what you think of it.
  14. Did you release them all? Mad skills man turnly unbelievable!!! Are you useing those 40$ swim baits that they just came out with? It look like those.
  15. Do you know of any good bioligst on this site? The pond is 20f deep from what I have been told. I do know that I would have to add some rocks and bolders tho.
  16. I have never been fishing for smallmouth but have heard that they are a blast to fish for. I am looking to buy some more land and kill off all of the fish in the lake. But if this does not work could I just put smallmouth in the lake and when ever I catch a laregmouth just take it home and eat it. I like in nebraska and dont know if smallmouth would survive down here. Also would I have to stock the pond with some bait fish. All that the land owner says is in it, is bluegill. The bluegill are 3-6" long I dont know if smallmouth will eat bluegill. Let me know what I should. Thanks
  17. Has anyone had any luck for walleye bits yet. If so what are you fishing with(Like Jigs, crankbaits, swim shads) and how deep.
  18. Has anyone fished wildwood recently. I was looking at the lake map of it and it has some excelent drop off and deep medium and shallow flats on it. Just wanted to try it out and didnt know if anyone had any luck on it ever.
  19. So back to may question will this work?
  20. I am going to be useing leaders DUH!!! I just had to put that in there. Sorry if it makes you mad.
  21. I am trying to figure out which one is better I have a baitcaster that has 65lbs. Braid on it right now. Is braid good for cast fishing? I know it is good for flippin. Could fireline good for flippin I do know it is good for cast fishing. What is the main difference The reason I am asking this question is that I am going up to canada to go fishing for pike and other fish. I dont really want to put fireline on if I dont have to. So I was wondering if my 65lbs. braid would work for cast fishing. Also what are the Pros and Cons for both
  22. Could I be able to stand on up and fish on one of these?
  23. I am looking at buying a small bass boat like something that is 10ft or less and can fit in the back of a truck bed if possible. I does not have to be a two person one because if I get a two person one I am going to take the front seat out so I can have a bigger casting deck. I want something that I will be able to stand up in a "Flip fish" My jon boat just isnt reliable anymore to many small leaks :'( I dont want another jon boat I am thinking something with plastic ;D that wont rust
