  1. The best way is to make one and catch Donkeys with them and show pics on the FB swimbait groups and on IG. Swim videos, and videos of you catching fish on the will help too.
  2. Palmetto State Armory has a good tackle shop
  3. I like Baitplastics Tomato. DOP Redrum is good too. If you want darker/brownish red color look at DOP Brick too. Those are the only reds that I've tried so far.
  4. I have an ALX Ikos Soul73 that works good with the Donkey rig
  5. What size injector are you using. and how many molds are you looking to shoot at a time? The new Angling AI preimium injector is supposed to keep plastic warmer longer but it is spendy. The videos on it look cool, but the blending block looks annoying imo. The other way to not have a plug left over would be to get a shooting star, or jacobs injection machine which are expensive as well.
  6. Pre-heating a mold shouldn't warp it. I have a toaster oven and put them in to warm them up in the winter. Try warming it up and shooting a few. A 3 oz injector should fill a 4 cavity stick bait mold. I have a 4 oz and have plenty left over. I also lube up my o-ring before I start shooting to make it run smoother. Basstackle has their injectors at a reduced price rn, if you want to get a 6oz. They're pretty good.
  7. I make my own open pours. I've made a few of my own molds but also have some swimbait molds from BTS. When I see a mold that I like, I buy a small cavity one to see if I I like it and then buy a larger cavity one if I do. I dolike to play around with blending durometers, salt, floating blends, etc. I don't sell any, but hand them out to kids that I see fishing, and a couple of buddies who fish a lot.
  8. Most of the main mold makers offer tail molds for a lot of their molds, or as stated above shoot one color, cut the tail, place back in the mold and shoot next color. To make multi color laminates you can buy a laminate plate for the mold that you have if that maker makes it for that model, a dual/triple injector, or the tinfoil method (this is how i do it). Open pour molds allow more creativity and are a lot cheaper, but take some practice.
  9. You could make a silicon mold of them and make your own.
  10. Bass tackle has a slug mold
  11. MEK will melt any area that it touches and keep going, plus it’s some nasty stuff. I used to use it as an additive frequently when I ran a chemical company.
  12. I have a Kistler Graphite spinning rod. I liked it so much that I bought the other three rods in that line. There’s the Argon in that range too.
  13. I’ve wanted one for a while, but they’re spendy for a reel not named Shimano or Daiwa.
  14. Sorry I just saw this. Yes, I live in Cane Bay. The main lake has some good sized fish in it. There’s several neighborhoods that are connected by channels and I fish those quite a bit too. If you like bank fishing, the older ponds have some huge bass in them as well. I’m also 20 minutes from Lake Moultrie and Marion, and there’s some good river fishing here too.
  15. I generally work a 1 month on, one month off. I don't receive vacation or sick pay. When I'm home the only work I have is catching up on home maintenance and projects that my wife dreams up.
  16. I lived in Lexington, SC for 7 years. I love kayak fishing the Broad River, as it has excellent Smallmouth fishing in it. Parts of the Saluda, and some of the creeks of Lake Murray will have some gators in it, but never had an issue. I fished all of the rivers in that area and only ever saw one. I live in Summerville now, and live on a 300 acre private lake community and see some every now and then, but if you give them a respectful distance they leave you alone. I've only fished Moultrie once and didn't see any. Bass gear will be fine for inshore fishing as stated above. DM me if you want to do some fishing.
  17. True South Buzzbaits
  18. The big two of course, but I also like the Fat Ika (I like to rig it backwards) and Trick Worms too.
  19. They're legit. I bought a reel from them a couple of months ago, and accidentally bought a left handed one. I realized it a few hours later, and called customer service. The reel had already shipped, but they sent the correct reel before I received the original order. Super easy to deal with.
  20. I terminate cables for offshore use quite frequently. I solder the two together, use heat shrink on each set, and then use a scotch cast kit to seal them all together snug as a bug. Adding a few feet shouldn't hurt it as long as it's the same type of cable.
  21. I use the YakAttack Trolley with an Anchor Wizard. I too used rivets and GOOP. I haven't had any issues with stretching that I know of. I use a 5lb rubber coated dumbbell that I found at WM for $3, or my homemade drag anchor for anchors.
  22. I've only used bait casting gear (ALX Zolo Dragger) for the larger flipping tubes. For the 2.5"-3" tubes I use spinning gear (ALX Soul73 & Kistler KLX 7' M) which is most of the time.
  23. I'm a Marine. I served from 1995-2007. MOS 0341. I was stationed mostly within 2nd MAR DIV. I tried to do 20, but was medically retired in 2007. Started kayak fishing in 2009 as I needed a new hobby, and haven't stopped since.
  24. I love fishing with tubes in rivers. The best is hitting the riffle and eddy’s with them and bouncing the tube off the rocks. You’re not going to do very well with them if there’s a strong current, but I catch plenty floating down river with them. Also look into putting an anchor trolley on the kayak. I have the trolley and an anchor wizard.
  25. I use a 7'3" MH Kistler Feel N Reel for both of those.
