  1. I owned 2 of them one of mine started to have problems with the anti reverse after 2 months and now the other one is having the same problem I took them apart and re lubed them and gave them a good cleaning now they work fine but if you can save up and get a better reel abus round reels are good reels and not that expensive. I own 2 c3 5500s and they are excellent reels for 90.00 but you have to like round reels they are work horses of the abu line up.
  2. Ive been using berkley big game for a long time with no problems its a great line and its cheap just use a little line conditioner on it.

  7. Thanks guys for your feed back. I would like to buy a loomis but my funds are just not there for there rods and besides. I can't justify paying that much for a rod but don't get me wrong they are the top of the line but fenwick has been around a long time. When I held the fenwick rod it felt pretty close to a loomis. I personally like the metal guides my self. Well I'am going to gander mountian tommorow to pick it up maybe get 2 of them for that price. thanks again
  8. Yea muddy thats what I thought that rod felt good too. Also with the hvy and can fish jigs too. Which is my goal to get better at this year. I'm going to put my new bps extreme onthat rod and use for both techniqes.

  14. Yea I agree you get what you pay for me personally I would rather spend more on my rods than my reels. but for baitcasters I think you need to spend over 100.00 to get a good reel. I learned on a cheap one and it did the job but when I got a shimano citca man what a difference. but I guess is all in what you personally consider good equiptment and how much you fish and what you want to spend.
  15. Marty my symetre will handle line up to 10lb and the catera will handle 12lb line the rod is rated for 10 to 20lb line but I like to fish with 10 lb line on my spinning gear. you think may I should try braid say power pro 30lbl instead never have used braid before.I fish a pretty clear lake in northern ILL.

  17. I got a gift card from gander mountian for xmas and purchased a fenwick hmx 7ft hvy rod .what I would like to know is this rod okay to fish jigs and t rigged plastics on or is the rod tip to stiff for this application. couldnt pass this rod up for 49.99 down from 89.99 the rod is rated for 3/8 to 1 1/4 oz 10-20 lb line also I would like to pair this rod up with my shimano symetere which is the 2500 series or should I use my shakesphere catera 35 series reel for this rod and use the shimano on my basspro woo daves ml 6ft 8inch rod. thanks.
