  1. I would say 4-5 ft visibility would be stained anything more clear anything less muddy.
  2. I was just pointed out that there is a small weight in the tail of the worm. I missed that.
  3. I saw this terminology in 2006 BPS catalog and was like what. Never heard of it before. So reading on its just like what I would consider a no weight texas rig. Any of you guys ever heard of it?
  4. Usually here in MO I start trying it in may. I like fishing topwater because of the excitement just dont usually catch decent fish around here.
  5. Like said above I keep it simple. muddy usually dark colors or very bright. clear natural. Most of the time I fish clear to stained and really never change lures. Jig is brown purple tube grn pumpkin chart/wht spinnerbait craw color crank white w blk/gld glttr senko I have confidence in all these and rarely stray from them.
  6. Thats what I do too. I will spray them with walmart special primer then usually black paint. The main reason I do it is so they dont corrode on me. I dont throw worms much and the weights sit around for awhile.
  7. I like this one too http://www.staminainc.com/bassjigs/Weedless_Finesse_Utility.html The price sounds about right for that style. I was going to post the football jig head too but noticed there about 1.00 each. You will have about as much in the skirt as you will the head. Most of my skirts I make are from barbwire silicone material and cost me about 70 cents each.
  8. Very Very True. Curing is a must from what I found out. Leave the weed guards off and follow the highest bake temp according to directions.
  9. Here is the linkhttp://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/community/aboutus/retail-detail.jsp?detailedInformationURL=/cabelas/en/content/community/aboutus/retail/retail_stores/hazelwood/hazelwood_press.html
  10. Biggest one I ever caught was off a rock reef with a 1oz ledge buster.
  11. I guess in a way its true. basketball is just putting a ball in a hoop golf is putting a ball in a hole hockey is putting a puck in a big net etc. All sounds simple doesnt it. The one I get mostly is your tired how can you be tired all you were doing for the last 8 hrs is fishing
  12. I pass it everyday on the way home from work. Stop in quite abit. Those Dunns big bite senko style baits work pretty well.
  13. Ahhh, I see how you guys get away with 4-6lb line from the hair jigs. There little guys that dont take much hook setting power. Looks like I will be making some or buying some. There closer to my crappie jigs then my bass jigs. This is how I got started making my own jigs. A jewel (awsome jigs one of the best) is 5 bucks for 3 I can make the same identical jig for about 2 bucks for 3-4. Plus I can make any color i would like saves alot of $ on the amount of jigs I use. I didnt notice what state you were in but right now we have thin Ice on the lakes. So for me I cant really fish. Would like too. The main reason I have to keep sane in this insane world of Ice on the water. We usually dont get cold enough to be able to walk on it either to ice fish. But in one setting I can make enough jigs for my buddies and myself to last all year. I think its fun to pass the time and rewarding if I catch fish off something I made. Keeps me out of the Casino and bars too.
  14. pearlgum greenbean sunset
  15. I actually tried to keep track this year of how many bass over 12" I caught. Ended up at 389 I beleive in mid oct. I gave up the counting but was still fishing and catching. I caught several over 5lbs, lots of 3-4s and tons around 15-16" and even more from the 12-14" range. Next year I think I will keep track again but bump it up to 14" or bigger. Overall a good year. Especially with a jig.
  16. Thanks guys. Few more ?'s. You guys dont have a problem setting the hook and getting the hook past the weed guard on 4lb. The place I fish has some weeds this time of year most have died off. I think I might have problems with breakoffs on 4lb. I will be using flourocarbon for sure. I know nothing about hair jigs never used them besides little ones for crappie or whites. Do you have any pics and tips. Thanks
  17. I'm thinking about making some real small bass jigs say 3/0 hook with 5/16 throwing them on 8-10lb line. For this winter fishing or cold front conditions. Question, see any reason this wouldnt work, any body throw jigs on 8lb line and have line breaking problems. Heres a pic of what they will look like I'm mainly worried about the 8lb line. But I think I will need the 5/16 for weight to get it to the bottom and thats the smallest I can make. Reason for the smaller hook is to make the overall profile smaller.
  18. Hey, I'm from MO. Bluegill are not considered a gamefish according to MDC. It is considered a Nongamefish. How ever if you are using them for bait you are allowed 50 per day. I got this info from 2005 MDC fishing regs on page 10. I use them for cats, and sometimes bass.
  19. Hey Raul, told you they missed you. Welcome back buddy
  20. I go hunting to get my outdoor fix. or
  21. 1 Jigs would be my first one. 2 tubes
  22. Jigging spoons and Drop shot.
  23. texas rigged no weight is the only way I fish them
  24. This is one of mine. Hooked a hole in the rock.
  25. I have to agree with you that they work year round. When in doubt I throw a jig. In all reality 90% of my fishing is jigs. When its cold or real weedy I will throw a tube. I have tons of worms but just dont throw them much.
