  1. you will have to suspend them some how. The extra material will drip off them too if there is any. To heat I use a candle. Cheap and lasts a long long time.
  2. You will have to bake it at 350 for 15 min. The powder coat will turn rock hard after it cools. BTW make sure there isnt any in the hole or you will never get it out.
  3. Oh man, better send out the national guard when you hit 1/16 ;D
  4. I've got a lee production pot 20lb one. Works great and not that expensive and is extremely easy to use.
  5. I've been tinkering in the workshop too. Last weekend I built about 100 jigs for this year, monday I build about 12 spinnerbaits. Other things I have been doing is pouring plastics and making molds for them. I've got all kinds of little projects keeping me busy.
  6. I dont blame you for not going GLX for a sp dedicated rod. I wouldnt either. THats just what I use because I dont fish a sb as much as jig/worm style. IMO the IMX is the best rod for the money ever made. Great sensitivity, light, fishes great. Just overall an excellent rod. Not real familiar with a GL3 just havent fished one much.
  7. When you say that the MBR784C and MBR844C fish like two completely different rods can you be more specific? The 844 requires more attention to accurately cast. Hope that makes sense. The line pick up is different when you move the rod to move your lure. The back of the blank is bigger adding weight and changes the overall feel. Once in awhile I switch from a 7' to 6'6" rod and it takes a minute to get the feel back. I use Shimano Chronarch SF reels with my rods, so maybe it's the underhand roll cast that makes casting 3/16-1/4 oz bullet weights a little difficult. That is the same reel I use for my 844. It will handle those lighter weights just have to loosen the tension knob a little more. Fletchero brought up a good point with the line. I use alot of sidearm or underhand roll cast too. These lighter 3/16 weights are more difficult for me but it is doable with some practice with the 7' heavy. Of course since it is lighter its not going to cast like a 1/2 jig or trap.
  8. I just built some 1 oz ledge buster look alikes. 1oz and a #7 blade. going to see how it works this year. Use to use 1oz ledge busters
  9. I found this and thought I would share it with everyone. Its a great tutorial on sonars http://www.lowrance.com/Tutorials/Sonar/sonar_tutorial_01.asp
  10. welcome aboard. Good to have you here.
  11. got my package from Chris last night. He sent me a bunch of full beavers and 4" sinkos. They look awsome. Thanks alot Chris.
  12. Agreed, I really like the spro frog
  13. Thanks RW, but I wasnt the one that sold you the baits. ;D Let us know, better yet show us pics of how well they perform.
  14. I use a falcon box for the hooks, weights, swivels, etc. Best 10 bucks I ever spent. Swimbaits cant answer that one. I only have cheap ones piled in a plano 3700
  15. I use a glx 843 and like it. I have never used the SB series though. The 843 works great for me. Another side note to your other ? If you go with the 843 you can throw that lighter jig/worm and keep your 844 for the heavier 3/8-1/2 baits if needed. Just a thought.
  16. Hmm, You pretty much explained my whole fishing style right there. IMPO, go 7' and dont look back. Especially for the deep fishing and the weeds/structure. Is the extra weight of the MBR844C noticeable while holding the rod during the retrieve or is it negligible? It is obviously heavier, but not much. IMO its worth it. Does the balance of rod and reel feel any different? Yes, the rod fishes competely different Finally, would the MBR844C improve hook setting, particularly when fishing deeper and making longer casts? Yes, a ton more hook setting power. It will cure this "I've noticed that I'm missing some hook sets during these conditions." Any time you have more line out you will need a longer rod to pick up more slack. Plus streach of the line. I dont want to complicate things more but you might want to look at a BCR854 too. If you have a good local dealer see if they will let you toss one a few times. Just a side note: Any rod will have a weight range that it functions with the best. As you have found out of this range you start loosing accuracy and performance. With that said the 844 or 854 fits my needs the best because I mostly throw 3/8-1/2. The 854 will handle a 5/16 or 3/4 well but it really shines with the 3/8-1/2. Thats just my opinion from what I have used.
  17. Ok, here is how its going to happen. We move 25k troops to Baghdad. Why, look where iran is geographically located. We have already moved more carriers there. With that said. We wont do anything but bluff. Read rest of post. We wont go into iran without Nato backing on this one, same as N Korea. It will have to be a joint effort. Isreal will be the ones that bomb Iranian nuke plants from US intel. Then we will say just like last time. We dont agree with that. But good job and thanks. Like I said Isreal will be the ones the take care of Iranian nuke program. Reason Isreal doesnt put up the the BS. I'm with Sam we despretly need to get out of foreign oil. Whatever it takes we need out. We must also deal with the Iraq issue and fight it to the end. We can not pull out without completing it. I am affraid when we have a white house change that is exactly what will happen. We will crap on the Iraqi people like many others. Then there will be a huge civil war in Iraq that will bleed to the rest of the middle east.
  18. Lure: even though I consider myself a good jig fisherman I am going with generalist. I'm familiar with most lures and techniques but not "pro" in any of them. Water: I would say Midway. I would consider my favorite depth 8-16 a comfort zone. Shallow imo is pretty much simplistic because its typically feeding/cruising fish. Typically the easiest to catch. Deep water 30+ is where my down fall is. Reason I believe is not many places around here get past 30 ft. so I'm not acustomed to fishing it. Angler: Is there a such thing as finesse/power?? I throw a finesse jig 3/8 oz on a heavy action rod with 15lb flour alot. If not I would say power because I mostly pitch. I usually dont go below 10lb line. Except open water I will go down to 8lb maybe 6. I fish more stained/murky and weedy water too so I feel I can get away with the heavier line.
  19. anyone every try to wacky rig one? never heard this one mentioned.
  20. Fish staple colors and staple bass patterns/structure. Usually works on every lake I have fished and not known.
  21. I would go along with that list. IMO the first 3 should have higher percentage though. You can have all the confidence in the world but if those 3 lack especially #1 your fishing dead water. One thing I would do is make depth/location #1 Similiar I guess but 10 ft in the back of a cove is different area as 10 ft in a main lake pt.
  22. I actually try to keep alot in paypal. You need to sign up for the money market. It is up around 5%. I dont know a bank that pays that. More $ = more lures To answer your question yes I do, and transfer funds all the time back and forth.
  23. My guess would be O.D. of something
  24. fish it, I've caught alot of fish right behind others.
