  1. couple things I see. 1. if the line is just falling off in chunks at a time you have too much line on the spool. Which it does look like from the pic 2. If you have a boat, cut the lure off and let about 50-75 yds drag behind the boat (at idle) in the water. This will remove all the twists in the line. Dont let it get caught in the motor. This will fix all your problems 3. Dont crank the handle to close the bail. Use your hand to flip it over and pull the line tight before reeling. I believe every time you crank the bail closed its like 1/2-1 twist. Over time it will build and loop on you. Follow those 3 steps and you shouldnt have a problem.
  2. its from cost. Most fishermen wont spend over $5 for a lure. You have to keep the cost down some how and hooks are one of the easiest. I bought a 20 dollar split ring plier to change these things out. I just take a side cutter and cut the split ring off and trash the whole deal. Replace with good split ring and hook.
  3. My pitching set up is a 7ft 1" heavy rod with a 6.3 reel. Works really good. It works pretty good for flippin but when I flip heavier cover I like a stiffer rod or 7'6".
  4. Well, you cursed me on the no backlash post. ;D 1st cast of the day. Blamo Jig rod reel gonners. I had a CA condor nest in the thing. Not a little birds nest. I caught one dink 12" long off a 1/2oz blk blue jig with rattles and a 2" blue chart trailer. Its ugly but works good. I threw everything even the kitchen sink at them. I did find 51 deg water and that is where the dink came from. 2 fish were weighed in first place a 4lber took first and big bass second was a 3lber. First trip 0 fish Second 1 fish Third Predicting 2 fish LOL
  5. I put the hook in my hook holder on the side of the rod. I have a rubberband on the but of my rod that holds the weight. Works great.
  6. Just an update. I tried the 8lb yozuri on my jerkbait rod. Worked great. no backlashes or break offs. Give it 2 thumbs up
  7. I would go heavy for that. JMHO
  8. Yep, it sure is. I guess I'm a cheater. I bet you are too. ;D I've done this 3x in a row on one fish before I caught the fish. I love fishing clear water with a senko.
  9. #1 follow up bait would be a senko. Why, it can double as a follow up for the previous cast. Not many lures will imo.
  10. Howdy guys and gals. Awhile back a member posted up about putting your State of residence in your profile. This is just a reminder for the ones that havent done this. IMO it helps me maybe others fill in on patterns and times of year results. For example if somone is having great luck on a crank in texas in march somone in MI may not even be able to use it. I think it could benifit alot of us as anglers.
  11. Welcome aboard Keri. Hope you out fish everyone down there.
  12. I think its both. Its got great action and I like to get them down in the rocks bumping across a point or creek channel. The only thing I dont like about them is its like hauling a boot through the water.
  13. Stamina Tackle Barlows Jannsnetcraft Lurecraft
  14. Awsome looking baits. Great craftsmanship
  15. I sent 2 off to RM yesterday. I'm in need of some great help. They werent working like they should. They are needing some RM TLC
  16. I've never fished the rods you have mentioned but I do own these BCR853, 854, 855 These are the 7'1" series and the 854 is by far the finest rod I've ever thrown for jigs. Especially 3/8-1/2. I think the rod was designed for that. I've also thrown MBR's in glx's so I'm not compairing a zebco 33 to a glx.
  17. Some great opinions guys. I know that I left the question very vague. that was on purpose. I wanted more opinions. Looks like there will be a jerkbait rod and crankin rod in the boat saturday. Especially with this nice warm front thats here all week and weekend.
  18. Same here.
  19. There's a box. Didnt know that. Some of the crazy stuff I've tried works and alot doesnt. But its fun experminting.
  20. holy crap batman. Sweeeet. How do you like that matalic color barlows just got. Sweet aint it. Lure craft has some living rubber should have some too
  21. Ken, check out stamina. Quite reasonable http://www.staminainc.com/hooks/gamakatsu/gamaewgworm.html They have other brands too. This is where I get most of my hooks and other goodies
  22. Amen to all of that and Carolina rig glass beads for dirt cheap. Anyone pays fishing price for that stuff is
  23. Here we go guys. Here is how Whittler and I would like this to go. Limit it this time to the first 20 or we reach the date of Friday March 16 people who want to join in. On March 19th-20th Whittler or I will draw names. We draw 2 at a time and those are our pairings. After the pairs are selected we will list the pairs and let them contact each other via pm on the site to exchange name and address. We have set the limit at $10. The trade is for any homemade baits, cranks, plastics, spinnerbaits, or jigs etc. Glenn has given us permission to use the board but just as a notice. BassResource.com does not verify or screen any individuals, so any transactions they participate in, they do so at their own risk. I dont believe we will have a problem just wanted to make this known and be honest with all that get involved. Remember lets have fun with this. I think this will be cool to see what all we get. Just a notice to all. Some of the volunteers will be at Lake Fork during some of or all of this trade so it may delay their shipment out. I do just ask that if someone signs up that will be at Lake Fork please let us know so we can allow additional shipping/making time if necessary.
  24. Yep, I'll go find it now. I'm just going to cut and paste a new topic
  25. what did you not like about them? The black came off quickly, exsposing the what looked like aberdeen hook wire like a crappie hook. the point well if there was one didnt last at all would just fold over after a couple fish the eyelet wasnt very nice or always closed IMO, spend a few more bucks and get a better hook. Its one of the most important parts of the setup that is most times skimped on.
