  1. Happy birthday Val and Muddy's daughter.
  2. I expected this too C. Didnt take long at all. I cant refrain from posting this so here it is. Why are they focusing on firearms not Immigration. From what I read he immigrated in 92 from South Korea. Well wouldnt this make all Immigrants bad people just like since he used a gun. All gun owners are bad people. So should we ban all immigration? Ok enough soap boxing now.
  3. welcome to boat ownership. #1 water time. You can read all the articles, posts, how too, etc. Unless you learn how to apply these tips and tricks it really doesnt matter. I dont mean that in a errogant or hateful way I mean it in a constructive way. Water time, application, and attention to detail is the best learning tool. #2 Boat control, need to learn how to position the boat to effectively fish an area without compromising the area. #3 start with what you know. If your a good texas rig fisherman start there. Then broaden horizens as you build confidence. As for the lake, I hate fishing standing timber. I'd find laying timber, weeds, creek channels, or rock. My last resort would be standing deep water timber. If the timber isnt that deep 3-10ft throw a t rig or jig around the stump areas. Or try a jerkbait, crank, or trap if the fish are a bit more aggressive.
  4. I've said it once and I'll say it again. High performance = High maitenance Low end rods are great for durability and toughness. Why, they contain more glass or other type of rigid material. Thus gives it more weight. From Gary Loomis "I can build a rod that you cant break but you wont want to fish it" Higher end rods are more pleasure to fish with. Lighter, actions are usually better, and just overall better feel. I am not saying there are not good to great rods that are lesser in price because there are. Warranty is one area that most companies can cheapen up the rod. Put a 1 year warranty on something and that there can cut the price dramatically. When buying a rod, boat, motor, roof, car, truck, house, what ever it is imo its worth a little more to pay for service after the sale. here is one that I find odd. Not to point anyone out or say there is something wrong with it. Just to me it doesnt make sense Truck 30-40k boat 20-30k motor 10-20k (maitenance per year) $500 All above is high performance Fishing rods and reels maybe 1k I just havent found out how to rationalize spending 50-75k for a fishing setup then going out and buying lesser equipment since that is what makes the fishing experience the best there is imo. IMO nothing is worse then going out and having fishing equipment failures from cheap tackle. I look at high end as an investment. Your rod might cost 200-300 dollars but will you need another one. Probably not. Cheaper rods say 100 how often do we change our minds on them. Oh this rods old and crappy 2-3 years later. So you drop another 100 on another one and put the old one in the closet. Up to 200+ tax. 2 years later I snap it in a car door. Crap gotta go buy another 100 dollar rod. You guys see where this is going. Just my opinion though.
  5. good one squid. ;D
  6. really cool baits
  7. I'd deal directly with shimano. I wouldnt waste anymore time with dealers. I also agree with hot n tot too
  8. split ring pliers are handy but not necessary. Last time I checked stamina heads looked alot nicer then barlows. Might want to look there too.
  9. There's a few different ways to do it. Wire tie String tie rubber collar I really like the wire tie over the other 2. The collar is alot easier and less time consuming. It just takes a cheap skirt plier bout 10 bucks and the collar plus skirt material. The skirt is the most expensive part of the jig but the least labor intensive. All in all it will balance out about equal between head and skirt if you figure in your time. If you buy just little amouts of skirting like I do you can figure a 66 strand skirt in barbwire will cost about 85 cents each.
  10. stone age. Now got dsl at home. Wooo hooo.
  11. What happen to the person that did this?
  12. I will warn you now! Once you start you cant stop. More molds, more paint, more types of baits. Its an obsession. Jigmans right on the parts need collars or wire too. eye busters is sometimes handy.
  13. Yep, I throw them here in MO. We dont have any gobies but we do have sculpines. They are kinda alike. I've caught a few fish off them this year.
  14. Congrats guys. Just remember its all about resistance of the water and coasting into the dock slowly. Dont fly in and try to slam down the break peddle. ;D Good luck and be safe. Few pointers that will help everyone. Read the instructions. (yeah I said it) very important. Familiarize yourself with all the features Learn how to back the boat trailer before going to the boat ramp. those three will save you alot of stress on the boat ramp and in the water MOST IMPORTANT. DONT FORGET TO PUT THE PLUG IN
  15. If that is true and you really did that. You are my hero. ;D Freaking hilarious.
  16. It was a good one. THis whole weeks been good. 24, NCIS, The Unit. Wow.
  17. Ahhh, They play football in the snow, why not baseball. It would be cool. ;D Be fun trying to find a whitish brown ball in the snow.
  18. Congrats Speedbead. Sounds like you got a great one. Nice catchin.
  19. Muddy cap lock is on. ;D Catch a lunker and post us some pics.
  20. Your jig head is not hot enough. Its just hot enough to have some pain stick. Consult the directions and it will walk you through developing a nice shiny tough finish.
  21. Gee, nothing like industry knowledge when trying to promote a product and sell it. So I tried to find J Loomis online. Nothing came up worth looking at. I guess those rods are better then nothing.
  22. Well look who is back. I thought tonight's episode was the best of the season so far. Agreed. And I love how Jack killed Fayed. Yep, it was best one show of the year. Wonder whats going to happen in chinese.
  23. I'm still sticking with the 100lber. It would be running at the least percentage to power percentage. In turn producing the most effeciency. Its the law of deminishing returns. The closer to 100% you get the more power it takes. Just my opinion though.
  24. I got 3 from him also. They are cool. I also thought about using them as decor in my fishing room but that might hurt his feelings so I'm putting them to good use on the water in a few months when the top water bite starts up.
