  1. If you really want to KNOW the weight of a fish , you need a digital scale. Otherwise, you're making an estimate.
  2. Oops. my mistake. Didn't know that was a reply to a post and I didn't catch the last sentence. I still think Tebow is overated and will not like his stay in Jets hell.
  3. I catch the bulk of my fish on tubejigs. But topwater, however, is the most fun. When the river is low, warm, and clear the smallies flock to the riffles, and I'm there waiting for them with a popper in hand.
  4. Sour Grapes? Giants own the Pats, its not just luck. Anyway, the Tebow hype will fade into oblivion as a he sits the bench. He'll get traded after a season or two to some other desperate team where he'll end up being a wildcat qb or a fullback. I think Indy made a good decision. They have to look forward and Peyton only has a few more good years left at best. Its anybody's guess how Peyton/Denver works out. If he's still the QB he was before the injuries, they'll be a force. Even if he's 50-75%, he'll still be more productive than Tebow.
  5. They've made a big comeback in New York, too. I get to see them all the time on the river I fish. Really cool when you get to see them the first time, they're BIG.
  6. If you just want to watch people get hurt, why not just hang out in the ER of your local hospital on Sunday afternoon? You'll see plenty of violent injuries there. They still allow car wrecks in NASCAR, why not watch that instead? Yeee-Haaw!
  7. Going to be a battle, but Giants all the way. Pats weak secondary is going to have their hands FULL with Cruz, Nicks and Manningham on the fast turf. Giants D is ready for Brady.
  8. Congrats to that Niners for a great season. It was such a stalemate that it came down to who would make the first mistake in OT, and the rest is history. With some changes on offense, the Niners will go deep in the playoffs again next year. Eli had a tremendous game. He stood tall in the pocket while being relentlessly pressured, making the crucial throws when needed most. 58 pass attempts and no turnovers, all whlie being knocked down 20 times and sacked 6 times. On the road..in crappy weather....against the best D in the league. Thats clutch. And they don't have a stat for that.
  9. Think so huh? Won't deny that San Fran's D is scary. I also know that they got 5 turnovers from the Saints (another soft defense) and only won by 4 points. Highly questionable.
  10. Oh boy, here come the excuses! You guys were lucky to be in that game at all. Both of Packs touchdowns came directly after a fumble that was inexplicably given back to the Packers, and a bogus roughing the passer call that kept a late drive alive. Not a Packer hater, just a truth speaker. No defence = tragedy waiting to happen.
  11. NFC Giants over SF. They are as tough as anbody on the road, the defense is clicking and Eli is hot.(Plus I'm a Giants fan ) AFC New England over Baltimore Tom Brady is playing out of his mind. Suberbowl GIANTS WIN BABY! They're on a mission and have Brady's number. Defense wins championships!
  12. LOL. Dead wrong about what? The Packers only played the Giants once this reg season. Week 13. They got all they could handle and won in the final seconds, 38-35. No twenty point blowout. You're obviously confused. There were some dropped balls, but a few of them were due to bad/forced passes by an under pressure Rodgers (who was sacked 4 time and flushed from the pocket more times than I could count). All of those fumbles were punched out or stripped. The G-men were teeing off on the ball night. The Pack defense was last in the league in yardage. Their secondary has been weak all season. Nothing to prop up if their offense should it falter, which was bound to happen. And I couldn't care any less about fantasy stats. Eli is clutch. Face it, the Pack got dominated. It wouldn't have even been as close as it was if it wasn't for some AWFUL calls.
  13. The Packers' loss was inevitable people, they have the worst defense in the league. You'd be crazy or high on the 15-1 kool-aid if you thought they were going to repeat. If the Giants can keep up the same level of play against a VERY tough and well coached San Fran, I forsee a NY vs. NE rematch...... and Eli punks Tommy Boy again.
  14. Well to be fair, there is no argument. And you're right about that, you can't spell ELIte without ELI! Eli is clutch, he's a big game winner. As a giants fan I don't like to say much about them, history has shown talking up the Giants to be their kiss of death. LOL But resgardless, Eli is a beast, and has a excellent chance of proving all his haters wrong, again.
  15. Alot more to football then just the winners.
  16. Yeah but the point is Tebow's own coach doesn't even trust him enough to throw the ball when the season is circling the drain. Passing was their ONLY option to make the game even close, and Fox and Co. are calling runs between the tackles.
  17. Biggest Loser? I don't watch reality TV. This is a football debate, care to add?
  18. The Packers lose, so now Tebow can make it. Interesting logic. You really think that that Tebow had the "same game" as Rodgers this week? Do i need to get the stats? Even with all the dropped balls Rodgers performance was far superoir to Tebow's. Look, I'm not saying he can't make it as a NFL QB. I just saying he won't make it far. Espacially not as a run first, option quaterback. It's a gimmick. It's not sustainable.
  19. Oh and one other thing: Dang Tom Brady....you SCARY!
  20. I use a few inches of peanut peanut oil in a heavy cast iron pot. I dredge the fillets in seasoned flour, egg wash, then panko bread crumbs ( japanese style crumbs, found in the asian section of the supermarket) Fry at 350-375 deg. until golden brown. Serve with homeade tartar ( mayo, diced dill pickles, fresh lemon juice, S&P). Outstanding!
  21. He may be charismatic, and a great leader and all that, but you have to be able to pass the ball to be an NFL quaterback. Its painfully obvious that Tebow can't pass. The option offense will not work for any meaningful length time in the NFL. Denver needs to figure something out, this is the big boy leagues, not pop warner. I was embarassed for them, watching them still try to run the ball while they were down by 4+ touchdowns. Put tebow at fullback, draft or trade for an actual quaterback.

  23. As far as bottom substrate is concerned, the areas that i have succes in are mixed, but the best all have depth and ample wood cover.6 - 10 foot deep current breaks at the mouths of coves, or backwater areas are good. The downstream sides of islands and gravel bars, etc. I fish these areas right untill ice-up. I've even put on my waders and pushed ice off of shore line eddies to catch fish. Smallies eat all winter long. Take advantage of the rare warm-ups that may occur in the winter. A few sunny 40 degree days up here in NY can be great if there isn't any ice.
