  1. If you hit it on a weekday, it's not too bad.
  2. Unless you went to the NWDC office in either Newark or Newfound land and plopped down 50.00 for the permit..................you don't have it.
  3. Do you have the NWDC fishing permit? That's where I spend most of my time.
  4. Ex-Bergen here, Darlington pond in Ramsey !
  5. I live in the corner of Morris Co.,where morris, sussex, and passaic meet. I got the Newark Watershed reservoirs in my back yard, Hopatcong 10 minutes away, in other words, no shortage of fishing waters, but when I have to catch a LMB, the little slimy no name pond down the road never dissapoints. Got 5 out of there last night in about 20 minutes, no monsters, but bass none the less.
  6. You have to actually leave your boat at the reservoir, chained to a tree......I kid you not! Ok I guess, if you got an old aluminum laying around. I actually had those passes and had friends who left there boat there. A big storm came through one night, next time they went up to go fishing (driving from Jersey), a large tree had fallen over and crushed the boat LOL! :'(
  7. Haledon Reservoir?
  8. Threw my old Eagle into the reservoir at the end of last season and need to replace it. Anybody got feedback on the 525?
  9. Haven't been down that way in years !
  10. Farington Lake, lower Middlesex Co.
  11. Going camping with my son's Bot Scout troop this weekend...anyone have any intell on it or the area?
  12. As an ex-Bergen Co. guy, my early season shore fishing 1-2 punch were, Ramapo Reservation: the lower lake gives up a lotta bass to rubber worms. Darlington Co Park: Loaded with big bass, as it gets hotter, it gets covered in a veg mat, but floating worms and Sluggo's worked on top of the mat, bring explosive suprises
  13. Re-spooled with spiderwire, everyone fished today at the pond down the road (while dad worked) with no issues...........problem solved
  14. Got my first Revo largemouth Tuesday after work, 4 1/2 lbs
  15. Something is whacked with the way this line is coiled on these jumbo spools. I just spooled both of them and as soon as you open the bail one or twice, line just flys off, wraps around the handle, body etc. I'm buying braid for them tomorrow...end of problem.
  16. I bought my two youngest sons, Daiwa spinning combos. I bought 6,8 and 12lb test BPs excell. Using the Berkley spooling station, I've spooled both with 6 and then 8lb, the line keeps flying off the spool, causing mayhem, frustration and unhappy fishing kids. I put the 12 on my Revo, no problem, put the 8 on my oldests spinning reel, no problem. Any ideas? :-/
  17. You're gonna love it!
  18. Welcome aboard bknj,Caught a 4 1/2 lb largemouth out of the pond down the street from me after work today. Nice to have a resource like that in walking distance!
  19. What resevoir where you at? I'm guessing Monksville and that was a muskie that spooled you.
  20. For what it's worth, I fished Ryker Lake yesterday, which is also written up in the digest. It has potential, but there really isn't a ramp there. Car toppers might want to check it out.
  21. Yeah, no trailers at SplitRock. My son and I caught 12 largemouths at a tiny pond 2 blocks from our house. We hit three other spots earlier in the day, but the water was clear and cold. The murky little pond by our house might have been 3 degree's warmer and that's all it took!
  22. Managed to salvage the day at a little pond down the street, my oldest caught 8 largemouth and I got 4. Good start to the season.
  23. Well, I just got back from fishing 3 local ponds from shore (cloudy ,windy, cold....caught nut'in), but I got to put the Revo through the paces. I threw several baits, different weights, this is hands down, the best low-profile baitcaster I've ever used. Glad you guys talked me into it! I'd be buying the Dick's Quantum Escalade if wasn't for your input..thanks!
