  1. Difference between Gulp and PowerBait is that when presented with PowerBait, a fish will bite it and hold on longer than just a normal plastic. With Gulp, they'll actually eat it. I'm not sure if the ability to attract fish is any better. Plus they're biodegradable and will pass through a fish's system if swallowed. Never tried Gulp myself, so I don't know how effective it is. Just read about it. But apparently it outfishes live bait according to Berkley's claims.
  2. How do you personally define success when it comes to fishing? For me, even though I'm more of a casual fisherman, I suppose it would be catching more fish than my dad, or whoever I'm fishing with. I'm just a competitive person. It's also important to have fun, but I can still fail in the sense of not catching more fish, and manage to have fun.
  3. Where are you from, Nick?
  4. Just to clarify, I'm wondering year to year how your year breaks down in relation to your fishing life. Not specifically how this past year went for you (however that could be a good thread on its own).
  5. So this will differ for everyone being that we're all from different places and whatnot. But how does your year of fishing breakdown? How do you prepare for openers? Do you gear up long before the opener? Last minute? Improvise during the season? During the season, how often are you out on the water? If you're in the north like me, do you go icefishing? How do you prep for that? Any rituals or traditions you have each year? What do you do off season to satisfy that fishing itch? Or how do you transition between season?
  6. The Snoopy kid's edition??
  7. If you don't catch a fish, you're dead. You don't get to choose the location or time (of day/season) of the cast. If you could use any bait, any line, any rod and reel, what would you use and why?
  8. Who has tried PowerBait and what do you think? How does it compare to other plastics, scented or unscented? Berkley claims that it outperforms all other artificials. Is that true in your experience?
  9. Feel free to take your guesses
  10. Sure. It's for my marketing class. Our professor wants us to get some consumer insights. Then we have to base a marketing plan around our findings. I don't want to say what product it's for so as to not skew the results at all. Thanks to everyone who has responded so far!
  11. Thanks for your response, LD! Please guys if you could give me some more, I would be very grateful.
  12. Hi all! I'm doing a little research for a final project in school and I'm hoping you can all help me answer a few questions. I would really apppreciate the help. Thanks in advance! Here are the questions: 1. Do you ever attend any outdoors shows? Which ones? 2. Do you ever consult bait/tackle shop sales staff for advice? 3. Which websites do you visit for fishing information and/or advice? 4. Where else do you turn for info on the latest gear and technology? 5. Which brands do you respect the most? 6. Do you ever read the Outdoor column in newspapers? 7. Which fishing TV shows do you watch? 8. Which fishing publications do you read or subscribe to? 9. What would be your ultimate fishing experience? (Becoming a pro? A trophy fish? Fishing an exotic location?) 10. Do you typically use live or artificial bait? Please be specific as to what you use and why. 11. What do you see as the pros and cons of live vs. artificial bait? Is there a stigma about live bait? Is the bait you use reflective of your skill level? Confidence? Or just personal preference? 12. What brand/type of fishing line would you use if your life depended on it? 13. What reason would you have to move up to a higher-end line like FireLine as opposed to monofilament? 14. What brand of line do you use, and why? 15. What would you consider to be the most versatile brand of fishing line?
