Have a Lews Speed Spool tournament pro that's giving me some issues. Every once in a while, when I make a max effort max cast the spool will instantly stop when the lure is in mid air. There's no backlash, spool is dis-engaged; spool just instantly stops. I took out the spool and couldn't find any debris or sand particles. What internal could cause this? I was thinking the spool bearing but it seems fine.
Power pole hands down. Had power pole on my previous boat and had zero issues with it, always stuck and held me in place 100% of the time. My partner has an 8ft talon on his rig and it was awesome when he first got it but now it'll hold about 95% of the time, depending what type of bottom you're on. There's a pin that goes from the fiberglass spike to the aluminum square shaft and sometimes it will get dirt/ sand in it and wont deploy fully. You have to retract and deploy again.
Was wondering what everyone does about on deck rod storage for bay/ flats boats? Looking for a product that I can screw/blue onto my bay boat deck so I can store rods ontop of the front deck that maybe uses velcro straps or something similar?
Quick question how do you reference gloomis's 3 model numbers (ex 894) with the corresponding rod? I understand the last number is the power of the rod but don't see what the first two are for? With brands like Dobyns, first 2 are length and 3rd is power. Am I missing something?
Fished Lox today as well, first boat out Only 4 measly fish caught on the boat I was on. Didn't seem crowded at all, maybe 15ish boats when we got back at 12.
Did anyone notice the tow truck and the mercedes pulling an airboat trailer heading west on the levy? We got to our spot at 6:20 and noticed that a flare was shot but only caught it right before it disappeared.
Awesome video as always Shane, surprised we haven't run into each other yet out at Lox. Did you have a drift sock on the gheenoe, was barely moving with those winds.
Had the opportunity to go out on a friend's airboat for a relaxed morning ride. Also got to test out the go pro's capabilities, pretty nifty camera; didn't have the right mount to mount it on top of the cage.
To the mods, should have an outdoor photography/ videography section....please!
Haven't been to Lox since late March, when the water was ridiculously low and the gators and mudfish were rampant. Word on the street was that the water was way up, so I decided to fish Lox on Monday. Water is definitely up and most spots are fishable, was able to get in and out of the flats but not able to find any fish. Was the only boat there and was still only able to manage 1 measly bass, hopefully it'll pick up soon! Enjoy the video:
What about video surveillance? Like at the lox rd ramp, have two time lapse cameras run on solar power, like the inlet cams, at each lot or have one at the entrance? I always expect the worst when going to the truck after a long day of fishing no matter what ramp I use lox, pioneer, ida, etc.
