  1. Is the entire body solid or just the head ?
  2. Zippo here in New Jersey. Thought I would at least get hit, with the temp up in the 60's and cloudy, but nothing.
  3. Can't wait for T.O.'s comments. Tick tick tick......
  4. 1) Is the battery a deep cycle marine battery or just a regular automotive battery ? A regular battery will not stand up to trolling motor use. 2) It's impossible to tell if wires and cables are good by just looking at them. They have to be checked with a meter to measure resistance. High resistance = batteries and motor working harder. Even if the terminals look good. 3) Are the trolling motor wire to battery connections alligator clips or eye terminals. Get rid of the alligator clips. Lastly, how are you charging the battery ? A slow trickle charge is best as opposed to quick charging.
  5. This may help. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1229910956
  6. Ok, you asked. Get a Pflueger. President will run you 60-70 bucks. I don't own one, but going by other's opinions and reviews, it's a winner. I just got the Supreme, just got back from the lake for my first time with it. Super light (magnesium frame), performed great. I spooled it with braid, had no troubles whatsoever. Then again, 4 hours isn't enough time to establish a valid review. I don't think I'll have any trouble though. They run about 100 bucks. My first Pflueger I've been beating the crap out of for a year now, a little $40 Trion. This thing won't quit. Line lay and management are superb. The thing acts like a $100 reel. Believe me, it has a lot of time on it. I've torn it down once for a clean and lube, other than that - nothing. This is what got me convinced Pfluegers are the real deal. I have no complaints about casting distance with either, but IMO when it comes to spinning gear, the line and the rod factor into the distance thing more than the reel itself.
  7. St. Croix Avid and a Pflueger Supreme. Will be in the 50's and 60's this weekend. Tommorow starts my jig education. Heading out now to get some Power Pro and maybe a few cranks.
  8. Yeah, there are other reels besides Shimano. And believe it or not, people ACTUALLY CATCH FISH WITH THEM !! I know it's hard to believe, but it's true. It happened to me once I guess George Perry's record is a complete fraud because it wasn't caught on a Shimano. Cut me a freakin' break.
  9. Count me in for night fishing. For me it's by far the most productive time. Plus the added benefit of pretty much having the water to yourself. It will for sure heighten your senses.
  10. That movie RULES.
  11. How about this ?! http://www.amphicar.com/images/amphi_yellowstone_ramp.jpg ?!
  12. Well, let's see. My in-laws have a spread that includes ham, turkey, meatballs, two kinds of soup, stuffed shells, hot roast beef sandwiches, cheese, crackers, about 27 varieties of cookies, cakes, candies...... I'm in sweatpants until February
  13. Try to reason with a twelve year old daughter going through, ahem, how can I put this, "changes", when she is less than thrilled with some of her gifts. Hormones 1, Mom and Dad 0 :
  14. Could someone please elaborate the difference between fc line and fc leader material ?
  15. Let the fun begin It's all personal preference. Personally, I like Pflueger. I've fished a lot of different brands over the years, I've settled on them for now. I find them extremely well built and durable. I feel you get more than you pay for. Read product reviews, get opinions here, do your research. If possible, go to a store and play with as many different products as you can. That's the best way IMO to decide. Beware of the "anything but a Shimano/Daiwa/Abu/Pflueger/ etc. is crap" mentality. The fish don't give a rat's back end what brand you fish with.
  16. Avid rod and a Pflueger Supreme.
  17. Thats what happens when the little head does the thinking.
  18. What knot do you tie on these type of "walk the dog " baits ? Rapala loop knot ? tie straight to the eye ?
  19. Don't forget the tailights.
  20. Both are fish catchers. Regular spinners generally catch bigger fish but the in lines will get big ones occasionaly. In lines are notorious line twisters. Use a BALL BEARING swivel to reduce twist. Blue Fox Vibrax inlines are a good choice.
  21. It's Christmas already ? d**n, where's my head been.....
  22. IMO, for at least 20 years now, pro sports in general has taken great delight in sqatting over the fans and letting it fly. From pricing the average fan out of going to the games in person, to the ridiculous player salaries and the tv deals. Face it, they don't give a crap about you or your "loyalty." It's all about the $$$ and it will continue that way until people start turning away in droves.
  23. I'm a diesel engine tech - field service. My employer let four shop guys go last week, but for now us road guys are all working. No more of the crazy overtime that usually comes with the job, but I'm thankful to be working period.
  24. Not a car chase, but a very intense scene from a 1977 movie called "Sorcerer". Briefly, four criminals from different parts of the world end up in the jungle, where they have to drive two trucks loaded with nitroglycerine through the jungle to put out an oilfield fire. The full scene is much longer, but this will give you the general idea.
