  1. I use large rubber (not plastic) mudflaps from tractor trailers. They can be cut to fit the boat's floor sections. Mine are over 10 years old and going strong. Most truck stops with a garage or truck repair facilities should have plenty of old ones around, as they are a common maitenance item on large trucks. Might have to throw a couple of bucks the mechanic's way to get a stack....
  2. The important question is whether it's a spinning or casting reel. Couldn't tell you much of anything about casting, but bearing count and location can make the difference between a so-so spinning reel and a great spinning reel.
  3. Just make sure it's legal in your state
  4. If it catches fish, it ain't wrong.
  5. Me, I'm checking out the water in the ponds. I swear a couple of times I saw some swirls. Hmmmm..........
  6. Hot dog pieces sprinkled with garlic salt. Some guys around here add pancake syrup to the above mess. Hot dog tip : Buy the cheapest low budget dollar store hot dogs you can find. You want them with the rubbery skin, they stay on your hook better. As for the chicken livers, I have not done this but I've heard about it - cut small squares of women's stocking. Wrap the chicken livers in the stocking and tie to the shank of a treble hook. Supposed to let the scent out without losing the bait.
  7. About how far below the bobber is the jig ?
  8. Hats off to the S.E.A.L.S. Congrats to the Captain and crew and their families.
  9. Gonna miss hearing him say "That ball is outta here" Someone has some HUGE shoes to fill :'(
  10. I farted so hard in bed once it WOKE ME UP. I'm not kidding, and I sleep like a dead man. My wife was not amused. I was. Laughed myself to sleep on the couch
  11. 3700 boxes. One for teminal tackle, one for topwaters, one for spinners, etc. Plastics stay in their original bags, they go in their own pouch in the tackle bag or backpack.
  12. Follow me on this one. It works well for me. This may appear long winded, but it's quite simple: First, get some of these in the size that best fits your tubes - http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0030842112947a&type=product&cmCat=froogle&cm_ven=data_feed&cm_cat=froogle&cm_pla=0310501&cm_ite=0030842112947a Now, crimp split shot on the shank to get the weight you want. Crimp as many or as little as you need. If you use split shot with the little 'ears', you can trim them off with side cutters. To rig the tube: Straighten the wire guard in line with the shank. Insert the wire guard up through the bottom (open) end of the tube. Poke it through the top of the tube head from the inside. Make sure you're in the center. Pull the shank through the tube body until the hook eye just pokes out the front of the tube. A dab of super glue here will help keep the tube body from sliding out of place. You can lube the splitshot with attractant or mineral oil to help the tube slide on easier. Everything is concealed inside the tube except the weedguard. The weight can be concentrated at different points along the shank to adjust the angle of fall; nose first, horizontal, etc.
  13. Two. I use a fishing backpack. Carry a two piece ultra light in the space provided, so the only thing I carry is the rod I'm using.

  15. St. Croix Avid series has gotta be up there.
  16. No. If you're worried though, put some scent on. X 10 on the Palomar for braid.
  17. This is exactly why I started using light gear a couple of years back. Just my opinion, I've found I can work lighter baits better in a small water column. Zel has a good point about the small plastics on small jigheads. I even go down to 1/16 oz jigheads, as they are lighter I can work them longer without getting fouled in the weeds. You can catch plenty of bass (and nice ones too) on small baits. Here's some of what I use: Wacky rigged senko style 3" worm on #6 octopus or mosquito hook. Small Fin-s fluke type bait rigged weedless and weightless. Shallow cranks (Mann's Baby one minus) dives less than a foot. 3" Mister Twister curly tail grub on a 1/16 to 1/8 oz jighead.
  18. I'll sell him some magic fishing seeds. Just toss a few in the water...... :
  19. In line spinners rock. I'll never understand why they get no respect. They catch fish. Period. Sorry about the lost toad. We've all had that heartbreak
  20. Reminds me of an obnoxious kid that was in our neighborhood growing up. We were into street hockey big time, It was an obsession with us. We made nets out of scrap lumber, our goalie equipment was homemade, sticks taped together, yadda yadda. You get the point. This kid's family was loaded. The old man drops big money on real goalie gear, from pads to mask and everything in between. Problem was, he sucked. After a day of getting smoked, someone asked him if his dad could buy him some skills. We got a kick out of that.
  21. After spooling, take the rod to a large open space (ballfield , park, whatever) With the line through all of the guides as normal, tie it to a fence, branch, tree, etc. Open the bail and walk with the rod until most or all of the line is out. Now put the rod down and walk back to where it was tied and cut it. Go back to the rod, close the bail, pinch the line with one hand and reel in with the other. By doing this, all of the kinks and coils will work themselves out. 12 # on a spinning reel ? :-?
  22. About a half hour south of Trenton...... http://www.sportsmenscenter.com/
  23. They are a HUGE deal around here on the Delaware River between PA and NJ. Check this site often for info. They should be running now. http://www.geocities.com/shadhotline/
  24. She's been hammered for embellishing the facts over the murder of her fiancee when she was 19 years old. She supposedly claimed he was killed in a mugging that netted $35, but several reports stated he was killed by a mildly retarded co - worker. She claims that's what led her to pursue a career as a prosecutor. Either way, she's annoying. Thousands of children have been killed, abused and exploited over the years. She seems to make a career out of a select few.
  25. Make sure to get a cheesesteak when you're there. Avoid Pat's and Geno's - overated tourist traps. Try Tony Luke's on Oregon Ave. All kinds of good eats around.
