  1. Great pick. Originally panned as a Deliverance ripoff when it was released. Critics are useless. Sorcerer starring Roy Scheider. He's a low level mob guy on the run in Central America. He and three other guys in similar situations have to drive two trucks full of nitro glycerine through the jungle. The bridge crossing scene will blow your mind. I'd be suprised if anyone here remembers it. The original Taking of Pelham 123 was on the other night.
  2. She was jotting down your tag #. She thought she saw you on America's Most Wanted. Or she likes younger guys.
  3. Right on !!! That would be an awesome movie.
  4. One of several articles from the library here: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/rod-actions-power.html
  5. 1) It's an aluminum boat. The wood is structural support for the motor. The wood runs the width of the stern. In addition, there is a second smaller piece of wood which sits under a piece of sheetmetal. This is where the motor clampscrews go. All of the wood has rotted and needs replacement. The only way to get it out is by drilling out some rivets and removing some sheetmetal components. 2) The drain tube appears to be welded, this I am 99% sure of. Some paint will have to be removed to verify. I can see what appears to be a bead at the tube / transom joint. The tube has a split at the end where the plug goes. I've gotten around this in the past by installing the plug as snugly as possible, then filling the remaining tube cavity with silicone RTV. It's water tight, but a pain in the @$$ to keep doing it this way. The tube is also slightly deformed on the outside portion, from years of hitting stumps and other obstructions (previous owner, not me :) Where do you get the rivets ? The rivet tool I own is for the nail type rivets, which obviously won't work here. Thanks for the help !
  6. I do. My 14' Alumacraft jon needs the woodwork at the transom replaced. Looks like I'll be drilling out some rivets to access it. Also while I'm at it, the drain tube is a little boogered up also. Anyone got into these repairs ? Do's and Dont's appreciated.
  7. I've had contact with bats at night - although I couldn't tell you if they dinged the bait or the line
  8. .....for creepiest avatar goes to.............................................................cart7t !!!! Seriously man, where do you find those things ? You've had some doozies in the past also. Always entertaining.
  9. It's what guys do when they're together - they break each others stones. That's just the way it is. It's never personal or meant to be vicious.
  10. Great post cart7t. Being I fish out of a jon boat and do not use electronics, I guess that pretty much puts me in the stone age anyway The one thing I would take from today would be my Avid rod. I'll do just fine with 7" purple Culprit worms and some Tru Turn hooks.
  11. ;D Gettin' smoked on your own song....
  12. One of my favorites from Exit Stage Left. Geddy Lee getting in some killer bass lines in this one.

    My Dog

I cried like a baby when we had to put Butkus, our Doberman, down when he could not walk anymore. In due time, a puppy will make the perfect companion for your daughter.
  14. Got this reply to my e - mail to St. Croix. Pretty cool to have the President of the company reply personally: Thank you for your message. Since we do not record the age of rods returned to our Service Center, I cannot determine the average age of rods we service. I can offer a few comments, however. St. Croix has been selling rods for 61 years and it is not uncommon to see rods which are 20, 30, or even 40 years old returned for service. Service includes guide replacements, new cork, etc. The length of the warranty on our rods ranges from 1 year to the lifetime of the original purchaser. Many models we sell offer a 5 year warranty and our highest-performance rods feature our limited-lifetime warranty. Regardless of whether the warranty period has expired, we offer a service plan for all rods we've sold since the beginning in 1948. Most St. Croix rods which are damaged have not become so due to something we did wrong in the design or construction. Rather, most are damaged due to accident or misuse or normal wear. However, due to the extremely competitive nature of the fishing tackle industry, most rods are repaired or replaced at a cost which is much lower than the cost of buying a new rod. I hope this information is helpful. Sincerely, Paul Paul Schluter - President
  15. Well, what else would you throw this with ? http://www.macdaddysfishinglures.com/million_dollar_lure.shtml a Zebco 33 and an Ugly Stik ?
  16. I agree with you guys, but I saw a show on this guy. He seemed to have something going on. Pretty amazing. http://www.edgarcayce.org/edgar-cayce1.html
  17. That poster almost made me go blind 8-) She was one of a kind for sure.
  18. Laugh all you want. Most of us have woke up next to that at one time. Beer goggles are amazing
  19. I got one with my Avids. Loomis has it. Cabela's has a 25 year warranty on their XML's. What's the longest you plan on using a rod until you retire it, sell it, whatever ? After a few years I know I get the itch for a new one. Don't get me wrong, I like knowing my sticks are covered. But has anyone here fished the same rod for 25 years? Not just owned, but fished somewhat regularly? I wonder the average age of the rods St. Croix and Loomis see come through their warranty / repair departments. I'm gonna e - mail St. Croix and ask. I'll post back if / when they answer.
  20. I don't care if it was a Mack truck. That thing aint' tough no more...
  21. Ahhh, a classic comedy with all of the essential elements. Unapologetic, no sappy crap at the end that ruins it (Wedding Crashers). Critics hated it. That's always a good sign. Crude, tasteless toilet humor at it's best If you liked Porky's, check out the Hollywood Knights. Admittedly not as good but still a funny flick.
  22. HA!!! My biggest BS story ever don't even come close to this...
  23. Fishing reports are like the financial guys on tv with their 'hot tips' ; by the time it's broadcast, it's old news. Fishing conditions can change within 30 minutes.
