  1. I was wonderin' the same thing......
  2. Ahh, go easy on the guy. Maybe his area of expertise is golf but he was in the lodge for whatever reason. I don't think they get a commission so he probably could have cared less if the guy bought a Zebco 33 and some bobbers to go deep sea fishing. There's 3 different Dick's I go to and some of the lodge staff are knowledgeable and some aren't. That's how it goes in retail. Good score on the baits
  3. Trust you??? Do you speak from experience? :-? : Have you been burned ?
  4. B - A - R - F ;D ;D Just curious Koopa - you a Packers fan by any chance ? As a lifelong Vikes fan, I wasn't too thrilled with them signing BF this year, but if it helps them win I'll deal with it.
  5. In a pinch, ANY oil is better than no oil. I wouldn't run it dry.
  6. They are sort of like those, but only half a circle. Then you have what are known as 'fork' terminals, which are fine. They are still to be used on stud type batteries. As was already said DO NOT replace them with alligator clips. You will overheat the circuit causing a fire risk and definite damage to the motor.
  7. V - I - K - I - N - G - S
  8. Other than decorating trees with lures on occasion, I haven't really lost any gear overboard (yet). However, when I was a kid bank fishing for carp and catfish I had my pole pulled under by something big. We got it back after casting for it with a big treble hook.
  9. Yeah OK, I'm going to pay top dollar for a premium hook and if it's not sharp enough out of the pack I'm going to toss it without putting a point on it myself. Cut me a break. You must be the same guys who buy $20 razor blades. Send me all of your hooks and I'll properly dispose of them for you.... : I'm going to go throw away all of my old Buck knives now because there's no way I could ever get the edge to them they had when they were new.
  10. That's OK. The 'E' means edible..........
  11. I like to soak mine overnight in 90 weight gear lube. Give it a try! I use Mobil1 synthetic in my reels. Instant oil pressure on startup and no smoke.......
  12. There's nice ones out there that clip onto the brim of a ballcap if you don't want the bulky one with the straps.
  13. XT is a good line, but 10 # is a bit much for spinning reels. 8# is as high as you want to go. Any light bait + heavier line on a spinning reel = trouble. You can use braid on a spinning reel. I use 20# Sufix with a 12# mono leader. There's hundreds of opinions about line around here, it comes down to personal preference.
  14. You mean the ends of the wires have these ? http://productcatalog.tnb.com/fi/3/348107.jpg If so they are made for batteries with stud (threaded) terminals. If your battery has post (large smooth terminals), they sell adapters at auto parts stores. You are better off with what came on the motor. It makes for a tighter connection. Use wingnuts so you can hookup and disconnect from the battery without tools.
  15. Lately here with the cold front our fish are buried DEEP in the reeds. I mean to the point where you have to blast a jig inside and bonk one on the head to get it to bite. It is a dinkfest in the open water though.... :-/
  16. Ditto on the Sufix. I used Trilene for years until I found Sufix on clearance last year for $4 a spool. I was very impressed with it.
  17. The Wally Worlds around here are useless as far as fishing gear goes
  18. I'm new to jigs, so the only one I've used so far are the Paca Chunks. I don't know if it's the jig or the trailer, but they seem to go after it. I'll probably try ***'s trailers soon. I ran out of Chunks on my last trip, so I put on one of ***'s tubes as a trailer just to try it out and I caught fish with it. I don't know if it was dumb luck or what but it worked that day One question - Is it written in stone that the trailer should match the jig in color or can they contrast ?
  19. C'mon RW, which ones are they ? I own an Instant Fisherman deluxe model complete with Flying Lures. Doesn't get much lamer than that ;D
  20. X2 Great product. I repaired an electrical harness on a saltwater boat 5 years ago and sealed the repair with it. It works.
  21. What baits and / or techniques have you gotten away from for whatever reason ? I barely used stick worms at all this year. Or any kind of worm for that matter. I worked on learning new baits this season with some success. I didn't plan on it, it just kind of happened which in my case is not a bad thing as I depended too heavily on them in the past.
  22. For what it's worth, I have never used fluoro but my buddy tried it on his spinning reel this season and had nothing but trouble. I'm not knocking fluoro but maybe it doesn't belong on spinning reels ? :-?
  23. Nice !!! Gimme a small pond over an overfished lake anytime.
  24. Maybe you need to downsize. Lately tubes have been hot for me. I also have been getting fish on a 1/8 oz black jig with a Paca Chunk trailer. A lot of dinks here in South Jersey, but some decent ones are in the mix as well. My buddy and I have noticed they are holding tight to the shore and under the scum mats.
